Triceps question

Hi Cathe (or educated crowd),

When doing tricep extensions over/behind the head, is it better to hold onto both ends of the dumbbell (horizontal position) or grip one end of the dumbbell (vertical position)? I was doing GS:C&T yesterday and was wondering about this. I like holding both ends, but I don't know why - I can go heavier with this one. Which position is more effective, in your opinion? Thanks so much!
 
I think both versions are effective. Sometimes I feel like doing the horizontal version, and on other days, I prefer holding the dumbbell at one end vertically. The tricep move I like the best, though, is the cross-body extension from the GS series. That's killer!
 
Thanks for your replies! I, too, prefer the lying cross extensions over overhead extensions, but mixing it up is always good!
