Tri-Staters who DIDN'T sign up for the RT!!!

Cathlete
I propose a full scale invasion of 5 Points diner for a Tri-Stater breakfast hookup to coincide with the RT brunch, and then we invade to say hello after we eat!!

I'm in!!

Dianna P and Phyllis...I can count on the two of you, right??

How about you, Lainie, and Lisa!!

Ellie....oh, never mind, CAVEWOMAN!!!!

WOW, I am bummed. I wasn't on the forum for a few days and missed out on the road trip today is the first I heard about it and it is sold out.

Breakfast....... maybe

Susan

Now, that's what I'm talking about, Phyllis, and Dianna...yes...spouses, kids..all welcome!!! Knew i could count on you gals!!

If you really do end up having a good group of people, just as a courtesy, you might think about letting the Diner know what they are in for. They will already have a group of 105 in the reserved section, so they'll need to know to expect another smaller group for the other side. Just a little perspective from having been a waitress. ;)

I am sure I will be flamed for this but it doesn't seem appropriate to "invade" the RT. If you want to be a part of it, sign up. It is a crowded event and it doesn't seem fair to have bump elbows with a whole crew that isn't part of the the RT. Allow others have the opportunity to talk with Cathe and get the most from their experience so they too can have fond memories. Afterall, don't the Tri-Staters regularly pop in to visit Cathe anyway?

Why would you get "flamed", Beavs, for giving your opinion?? You certainly won't get flames from me, sheesh it'd get kind of boring if everyone agreed all the time.

I think the choice of the word "invade" may be a tad harsh on my part, we will in no way interfere with the RT brunch, we're talking about after brunch has ended...there are a couple of people I've never met, but know that are going on the RT, and I'm lucky enough to live close enough to get the chance to say hello to them, may be my only chance to do so.

I'm one of the people that wanted to go on the RT this year, but &*&(^(& AOL told me the "Page Is Unavailable" so I thought it was closed--and it wasn't. <---- That was me.

Anyway, I live in the tri-state area (lower NY, but not NYC) and would never dream of just showing up at the RT. It's unfair. I didn't get in. Those people paid $279 for that experience and I didn't. I have no right to be there. This is their time and although I'm definitely envious :p, I want them to have a blast. What do you think they're going to think when a bunch of people that didn't get in just show up and take the limelight (which you will as everyone will be surprised to see this group of people just randonly appear)? They may smile and say all these great things, but straight up, some people are going to think, "Why are you here? You didn't pay!" I would.

Sure, it's great to meet new peope and I'm sure it's awesome to meet people on the RT (hence why I wanted to do it), but I think this "invasion" or whatever you want to call it is unacceptable.

I totally agree with Beavs.

I totally DISAGREE. Five more people at a diner on a Sunday morning is nothing. I don't know how many of you have been to diners for a Sunday brunch, but groups of 5 or more are pretty common & I suspect it wouldn't phase the staff at all.

Some of us are friends w/the TriStaters & WANT TO SEE THEM! An invasion? Hardly!

Um... Jerry's the one who called it an invasion. And I believe he's talking about tri-staters, spouses, kids... the works.

I agree with Beavs and Tara.

5 people? Um, an above posts says you can bring your kids and everything. What, is only one tri-stater going? A nuclear family has 4.

If it was 5 people, sure, that's no biggie, but when you start bringing kids and a rather larger group, eh, that's complicated.

Also, you said some.

If the tri-staters want to do this, why not ask those that are going instead of just saying they're going? If RT's are cool with it, then cool. If not, then respect it. Should work out.

Well, I suppose it really doesn't matter what Beavs, Tara or Allwildgirl think about this. Cathe knows what's going on in the forums, if she considered it unfair or unacceptable I'm sure she'd find a way to let Jerry know.

BTW many people from the area who weren't registered for the RT showed up for the early bird class on Friday last year. I don't recall anyone being criticized for that.

I'm sorry, why is it important again who called it an "invasion?"

It was already mentioned in a thread a few weeks ago. No one spoke up negatively then.

This won't affect anyone in any way. Why such strong feelings? Is it just sour grapes?

I DO NOT want to get in the middle of this! Just wanted to point out that the Early class on Friday morning is a regularly scheduled class at Cathe's gym and has nothing to do with the RT and is open to anyone who wants to attend (I went to the July one last year cuz' I wanted to see the July RT'ers). K, I'm tip toeing out of this thread now...

Laura..

When we're done with our RT "invasion", we may knock off a few small countries afterward...you want in???

Interesting how someone who's not even going on the RT has decided to become the mouthpiece for those who are.

It is quite amazing that something we are doing AFTER THE RT HAS ENDED has garnered this much heat.

Oh Liann, I hope you didn't take that wrong b/c I love you girl & was so happy to see you!

But I just wanted to respond that it was a tremendous inconvenience to Cathe's regular class attendees--I mean, THAT was a real invasion! ;) MUCH more of an inconvenience than the Tristaters would be at the Sunday brunch.

Jerry, I'm thinking Albania. You in?

No, I didn't take it that way. I just wanted those who were planning to come to the Friday class (I think Lainie said she "might") to know it was ok. I knew you weren't saying it wasn't.

Laura..

You know it...I'll have a nice, full belly as well, I may even tip over the huge gumball machine at 5 Points on the way out. Albania it is.
