Tracey's Strike Zone vs Cathe's Kick, Pucnh & Crunch

Can someone who has done both advise me on the differences between the two and which one would be the tougher workout and which is more fun (its ok if the answer to those 2 questions is different : ))

KPC is a hands-down favorite around here. You can watch previews of each workout on Cathe's website and on Tracey's website (www.fitbytracey.com). The problem with Strike Zone is the pause between each of 10 "fights" (or maybe it's twelve?) since it feels like your HR drops. KPC is super intense and you get to do pikes on the ball after. :)

I have them both and enjoy each of them at different times. HTH

I love Kick Punch crunch and always look forward to doing it.

Strike Zone...I lent it to a friend and I could care less if I ever get it back. Strike zone would have been a good workout if they would have kept adding moves without stopping...the pauses were such a waste of valuable time...

If KPC broke...I would have to have it overnited to my house...

KPC is a fantastic workout. I use it at least once a week. It's just a terrific balance between drills and combos and the abs section has those terrific planks on the ball. I just feel great after I do it. Typing this makes me want to do it today! I probably will...

I love Strike Zone with weighted gloves. It really works your upper body. If you put your all into it. Like really getting low on the squat and punching with power, its a great workout. It is not too complex so you can really concentrate on your form and power. Cathe's is great too, but how many times can you do the same workout?

I think both are must-haves. They're very different workouts. KPC is longer & higher impact. The first half consists of linear drills (basically a single high intensity KB move done something like 16 times on each side), the second half consists of 3 choreographed KB combos that you build up to.

Strike Zone is a bit shorter, lower impact, & consists of (I think) 7 sections ("strikes") of short drills. There are no combos, it's completely linear.

I'm liking SZ more right now b/c it's new for me & lord knows I've done KPC maybe a zillion times over the years, but I do love KPC & probably pop in that DVD once a month or so.

Jeez, just buy them both already! :+

<<geez just buy them both already>>

you guys are such enablers :p I have purchased more workout things since I have joined this site than I think I have in my whole life put together

Me, too! Ah, but isn't it fun?? ;-)

Like Laura said, I'd recommend getting them both! It's fun to have variety!

:) it is fun but I don't have time to do *this* many workouts. I am even considering the kettlebells now due to the other thread. (just what I need more workout stuff).

I know -- I caved on the kettlebells recently, too. I'd say to hold off on those for while, though, if you want to start using more of the workouts that you already have!

You could also start by just getting KPC, and then pick up Tracey's later on if you want more variety.:)

But you don't understand!! I can't NOT buy the kettlebells now that I have read so much good stuff about them. They just sit there in the back of my mind until I bite the bullet and get them!:7 I need to go to Target for something else, so I think I see kettlebells in my near future! The only ? will be which weight 15 or 20.

I am another who thinks both are must haves and are very different.

Another great reason to get KPC (apart from the fact that it an absolutely awesome workout) is Legs & Glutes. I dont have Butts & Gutts or 4DS Legs, but of all Cathe's other Leg workouts, I think Legs & Glutes is the best. It is my all time favorite Leg workout and nothing has ever come even close among other stuff I've acquired including other instructors. I love the Ab work at the end of KPC too.

As a Kick Box workout I am enjoying Strike Zone more. But I am never letting go of KPC. I still do it quite often and in my opinion it is a tad more intense than Strike Zone.

Strike Zone scores for me because the strikes are just so much fun - there are moves that I have never seen before in a kick box video and nothing happens too long. I love the music and the mood. The workout is over before I even realize.

I have both also. KPC is a must have!! No doubt about that. If you buy just one kickboxing workout this is the one to get.

I like Strike Zone and I'll do jumping jacks or boxer shuffles during the breaks between strikes (or get a drink of water if the previous strike was tough)to keep my heart rate up. It's not as intense as KPC but it is a good calorie burner. It kind of sneaks up on you. You don't think you're working that hard then before you know it you're drenched. And not to mention Josef is pretty hot:) Next time I do it I'm going to try it with weighted gloves.

Of course Vrinda! How could I forget Legs and Glutes!!

have you seen Amy Bentos Kickbox Extreme? its my second fav kickboxing after KPC. She likes a little more choreography but it's not too hard to get down and she's a lot of fun! I did KPC tonight since this thread and wowee do I feel great! :)

nope- I have never even heard of Amy Bento ( I actually had never heard of Tracey before coming to this board). This board has opened up a whole new world of workouts for me : )

Well then, here is some more by way of opening up new worlds. My workout today was Cardio Kick Step Boxing-2 with Kelly Coffey Meyer.

It is a bit more choreographed than KPC or Strike Zone but it works you hard and is so much fun! The step moves and the kick box are so skillfully woven together and the pacing is non-stop.

It has a tutorial too. It is not a complicated workout but takes some time to learn because it is fast. The tutorial makes learning much easier.
