tonique

Sheesh, so many enablers all in one place......

I went to totalfitnessdvds.com where they have really long clips of the workouts and ordered the whole lot. Blimey! Well, it is my birthday today......

Thanks for finding great new workouts for me to torture myself with guys!

Clare

In that case, HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLARE!! :D:D

Hey Karie! Did you try Tonique yet? What did you think??

Nope, not yet. LOL! I have a fear. I've been in this yoga mode lately and it seems like thats the only workout I'm reaching for. As soon as I get brave enough to give it a try, i'll post and let you know. I don't know why i'm such a chicken about it. I did the same thing when plyo legs came out.

Don't be afraid. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger! ;):p:D

Sylwia moves non-stop...I've been working on mastering all of the Toniques. I had gotten all of the Toniques when Tonqiue 2 was released so I've built up a nice tolerance for the workouts. I think by the next two months I'll be able to do the workouts in it's entirety with Slywia. It's a goal of mine. I'm still also working on Cardio Core Circuit as well...eeek.

Sounds like you are making great progress! Good for you! What have your physical results from Tonique been like? Lower body changing at all?? TIA! :)

DVD or download

You ladies are so enablers.;). But now I need help to decide which format to buy. Which format you ladies suggest, DVDs or download?

Thanks

I prefer dvds to downloads unless it's an audio work out like cardio coach or Itrain. You can always rip the dvd on to your pc and then transfer it to an mp3 player or whatever. Just my 2 cents. Do what works for you and enjoy the pain! ;)

So I had emailed Sylwia about how often these workouts should be done. She gave me an extened reply email. She is so nice. Below I placed her response.

Karie,

This is recommendation based on 3 dvds and optional INTERVAL running or WALKING

ROTATION

I added Intervals for your cardio but you can substitute with other cardio workouts/aerobics/rope jumps etc

Monday - Tonique 1 and for additional challenge you can add interval running approx. 10 -15 mins start 2-3 mins your usual speed not too fast then move to 1 min faster paste than your usual paste, come back to the starting point for 1 min then go back upinto speed phase but this time .5 faster than your previous fast run..come back after 1.5-2 min to the starting point for 1 min and go back to speed run for 2 mins this time again .3 or .5 faster and back for 1 min to higher .5 than you r starting point - it is excellent for fat burning and training your oxygen intake / or add your other video with some super cardio – Tonique offers cardio though.

Tuesday – Tonique Mat workout plus cardio of your choice I would recommend 10-15 mins steady run, followed by 10 mins speed intervals - targets buttocks and shreds the fat or 15-20 mins of any section from Tonique of your choice, however mat is also great on its own and I promise you get up your heart rate up at doing few exercises...

Wednesday - Tonique 2 disc 2 plus extra stretch for your quads and hamstrings, lower back...important to get stretched while muscles are still warm up after the intense workout/ or Tonique 1

Thursday - Tonique 2 Disc 1 or Tonique 1- perhaps add extra 10 mins run for extra fat burning and calorie burn - only if you feel up for it.

Friday – Tonique 1 (1 section of your choice ) and Tonique 2 disc 2 or Mat

Saturday or Sunday - relax either sat or Sunday! And reward yourself , remember that your body still burns calories and your muscles grow when you are resting! The more muscles you build the more calories and fat you will burn...and muscles (I'm talking about building small but strong muscles) growth speed up metabolic rate

Saturday/Sunday - Mat 30 mins section on the side and on the knees plus select lunge section from Tonique 1 or do straight 20 mins workout from Tonique 2 mix sections where I do cross lunges with squats .... or any other choice for cardio.

WEIGHTS - I always recommend to use - I use 2- 4 pounds maximum - you can also rotate your weights between exercises so you confuse the muscles and for less challenging and less impact exercises you can use heavier weights like
4 pounds and then change into lighter ones when jumping or using more your.

I hope my email and program will be helpful especially when you have 3 discs use them for few weeks and yo will see results then you can mix with other workouts but I would like you to see results before you mic them so you will be sure that it comes from Tonique

Intervals are optional and you can also mix it up for muscle confusion so start Monday's workout on Tuesday and Friday on WED...alo you can do 30 mins one dvd then swich to section of another dvd.

I wish you much success and wonderful weekend and MOTHER"S DAY!!!!!!

Hope you will enjoy Tonique!

Sylwia

P.S. Today may be the day for me to finally do the workout;) I'll keep you posted

OMG I think Sylwia's rotation would KILL me!:p
I created my own rotation using Tonique and just started it yesterday. I'm sticking to it. I swear! :D

Thanks for posting this though, Karie! When you finally try a work out, do you plan on doing the rotation if you like it??

Yeah, I will do the rotation when I FINALLY give Tonique a go. I'm interested in seeing how my lower body would respond to it. I've been doing traditional cathe workouts for so many years that it would be interesting to take a completely different approach

How are you doing with your rotation?

I've been using Tonique 1 and Mat for my leg day with Fitness Freak's Getting Ready for Summer 2010 rotation.

I'm now going to use it with Cathe's 2006 Rock Bottom rotation.
http://www.thecathenation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236281
Instead of doing the BBW and walking lunges, I'm going to alternate Tonique lunge and squat segments. :)

I think on leg day, I'm going to do 2.1 or 2.2 with mat.

Oh my, I hope I can walk after a full week!

I might eventually try one or two weeks of Sylvia's suggested rotation, but add in Cathe's upper body.

I did a rotation with STS meso 1 where I used Tonique as the leg and cardio combined. So, I used the upper body meso 1 workouts and rotated them with Tonique 1 and both Tonique 2s. I through mat in there once or twice, too, I think. I loved that rotation!

What a great idea!
So you alternated leg/upper body days? How many leg days did you do?

I saw a rotation at videofitness that I'm following. I injured my shoulder and am using this time to focus on lower body.

Monday -- Tonique 1 (minus floor work)
Tuesday -- Walk 45 minutes plus Mat side work
Wednesday -- Tonique 2, disk 1
Thursday -- Walk plus Mat back work
Friday -- Tonique 2, disk 2
Saturday -- Walk plus Mat all fours

I really liked the idea of splitting up the Mat DVD, since I didn't think I could stomach doing the whole thing in one shot. I find this rotation hard but doable. I burn more calories than when I was doing Insanity, my heart rate stays higher longer, and I'm not in as much pain from the constant high impact.

And maybe I'm crazy, but after only one week I swear I'm noticing changes.
