Tom Venuto's new book is...

awesome! Really excellent - I've just finished part one and it's all about getting your mind right about food. It's filled with tools and strategies to change how one looks at food. I highly recommend "The Body Fat Solution" for those who are emotional/mindless eaters - like me!! I'm excited to see what the rest of the book holds...

ITA!!!

I plan to read it at least twice. I wish it were on audio and I hope it will be released that way in the future. I would listen to over and over.
I should email him to ask;)

Thanks for the review. I am glad to hear it helps with emotional eating. ( that is my biggest issue) I am waiting for mine to come from amazon. I can't wait.

Is this an e-book, or a book-book (okay why did I say 'book-book' when 'book' would have sufficed??)

Thanks!!! I was JUST thinking to myself this morning that I am the worst emotional/mindless eater ever. Though it sucks to be this way, it's sort of nice knowing I'm not alone.

Perhaps I should purchase this e-book or book-book today!

It is a book-book (he,he). He does have an e-book, burn the fat, feed the muscle.

No you are definitely not alone with emotional eating!! ...and yes it does suck!

Tom's e-book is Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle. It does not address emotional eating. That book covers nutrition, exercise etc.

His new book you can purchase on Amazon and it is a book book. I didn't want to purchase the e book and be disappointed.

You are definitely not alone. I think a lot of people, whether they admit it or not, eat for reasons other than true physical hunger. Recognizing the problem and identifying the differences between physical and emotional hunger are key to addressing the problem. Emotional hunger certainly feels like physical hunger, doesn't it?!
Boredom, anxiety, loneliness, sadness, food addictions(IMO, border emotional with some physical responses)
Tom does covers the problem with diets that are too restrictive too.

How much did this book cost and where did you get it from??? I'd like to check it out. I'm a big BFFM supporter and I'd like to read this other book.

I wonder if he covers what you do INSTEAD of emotional eating? I can easily identify when I'm eating for emotions (stress does it to me every time). And i'll stuff "whatever" in my mouth because I'm stressed because it makes me feel better. I KNOW why I'm eating.

This book sounds good, and I have an amazon GC burning in my pocket, but I'd want to make sure it could HELP me with the emotional eating.

What do you think?

I do not really like reviewing books before I am finished. I have only finished the first five chapters. But TV really does a great job with giving you tools to help with re-framing and identifying triggers to end emotional eating. I think that some kind of work book as an add on would be more helpful (maybe there is one in the back of the book, I have not made it). He covers the common problems and how to figure out your triggers and end them, but just like all exercise you have to actually take the information and apply it to your life (which he also writes about).
I am truly enjoying and getting better and straightening out my thinking to have better beliefs about food and exercise.
If you are a cheapskate, go to the local library and request that they purchase the book. You will probably have to wait a couple of months for the request to be processed, book bought, book brought into the system...

Chrissy - ummmmmmmm....COOL! Thank you! :) I didnt' really want to read the book b/c I am not an emotional eater (I more have the opposite problem of not eating) but thought maybe this book would have some good points, nonetheless. The audio version sounds great.

Chrissy, I could just kiss you- mwah
Thank YOU!!!

I want to listen to this so I can burn it into my brain:D

Lol you are welcome Cynthia! :)

Tom gives arms you with great tools, techniques and strategies for overcoming emotional/mindless eating. He tries to get you to re-train your mind and way of thinking. He talks about the mindset of lean, healthy people, recognizing the behavior and unlearning habits and subconscious thinking. I have learned so much about how I "feel" about food, and how I need to change it!!

Wow, Liz...that is exactly what I need! SOLD!

Thanks a ton!!!

I ordered my copy this past weekend and I just received an e-mail that it shipped. I am happy to see this thread, I feel good about my purchase, and I can't wait to get the book!

Between Tom's total makeover of my eating habits, and then new treadmill that I expect to appear in my garage within the week, I am gonna be SMOKIN' by summer!;)
