To all the parents of preschoolers - Help! I need an idea!!!!

Talk about WAY off topic, but everyone here always responds so much better than any other bulletin board...

My 4 year old has to bring something in for Show & Tell that begins with "I". Any ideas? I suppose I could send her with some boxes of ice-cream sandwiches (nice follow-up to last week's Nutrition week):9
I could also really stretch the connection and take an Indian dreamcatcher....

What about anything that she finds "interesting". Or a pen that has INK in it? How about a picture of her doing something (anything) and talk about it and describe the picture "I ... She could make a page of the letter I. She could cut out a big "I" and cut out pictures from magazines of I words. Good luck!

OOOH! I like that last idea with the magazines. Then she can put in Indians, igloos, George Bush (idiot - ha ha. Put that in for Trevor).

Thanks!

I have a 4 year old in preschool too, and they do a lot of cutting this year. Therefore, I like the idea of incorporating that task. I would draw a large "I" on a blank sheet of paper, have her cut that out, then tape pictures of things she has cut out of the magazine that begin with the "I" sound. Don't forget a picture of herself, because "I" is the name we call ourself! I am a substitute preschool teacher, can you tell?!
Have fun!

Cut that blank sheet of paper into an Isosceles triangle, and you've added some geometry into the mix.

Or, she could initiate a game of "I spy..."

I don't suppose you know anyone with an iguana? That would not be forgotten quickly.

How about I-max 2 or part of the I-ntensity series. :)

See it's not so off topic after all!

How about something from Indiana, Illinois or Iowa (map, shirt, etc.)?

Good luck, Wendy

:7 I LOVE this idea!!!! It would be great if her Show & Tell day was on the same day they have their Stretch and Grow class.

I used to have an iguana. Then the nasty little b*stard pooped on my kitchen table. Climbed right up the tablecloth and....oh...it's just too horrible to relive. He got a new home days later....

We had the letter "I" for secret sack when my son was in Kindergarten. I took a basket of homemade and kids instruments, like tambourines, maraccas, drums, rhythm sticks, triangles, kazoos, etc. I played some rousing march music and had my 3-year-old daughter lead the music while all the kids played the instruments along to the beat. It was a BLAST! The teacher said it was one of the funnest ones they'd ever done.

For the secret sack (the kids were supposed to guess what was inside), we got 30 plastic insects from the local party supply store. Not only did the kids love them, but it wasn't candy!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, it was quite fun.

I just had to do the letter I last week!! We brought in a plastic play iron. Someone else actually brought in a real iron. Someone else brought in the iguana from Dora the Explorer.
