This is why I don't agree with BMI standards

i hate BMI's. i try to avoid them b/c they say i am overweight. sure i have a bit of a pot belly(most likely from my stomach being stretched out from surgery and baby) but i am far from overweight. but i think almost all these women are beautiful in their own right big or small and i give it up to them. as long as they are healthy their BMI is a worthless number

ITA w/ you guys! There are some pictures I saw where I do agree with the index, but for the most part BMI really seems to be useless. It doesn't tell you what is going on inside your body: I am also overweight, and I wear a women's size 6 and warm up upper body work with 30 pushups on my toes! Yes my thighs are dimpled, but I really don't care about that because I am fit and healthy. :)

You look awesome, Missy!! Holy cow, you are not overweight! I've seen you in person!

I truly believe that the skin fold test with calipers is a lot more accurate than these BMI standards.

>Did anyone see the kitty cat??? :7

OMG, that cat looks just like my Theodore! Except, Theodore is MUCH more morbidly obese than that cat!!! ;)

Dani - no need to leap on me. I didn't see any of those. I just looked at the first page and agreed witha quite a few. Sorry.

Thank you Dani, my cheeks are red! :+ I also think you are quite gorgeous!

I'd say most of them look about right too? for one some photos are not very good as in you can't see how big/small they are. There were a few that I disagreed with. I think it is ok as a general guideline but of course everyones body may vary.
The range they say is healthy for my height is pretty broad. Even when I gained 20 lbs I was still at a normal/healthy weight even though I was not exercising much at all. But then when I'm at my weight I get to when I exercise regularly I had some doctors tell me I was underweight?(just looking at me and my weight/height) I didn't understand why. I thought I looked healthy and normal. plenty muscle tone I ate good. So I just blew it off. I think there is such a thing as a healthy weight for each persons body but maybe sometimes the general rules may be off a bit.

I am 5'1" tall and about 134 pounds, which puts me in the "overweight" category as well -- which I think is bulls***. I am (like another poster said) a size 6 petite, workout 6 days a week, and can do several (maybe 20, NOT 30!) pushups from my toes.

For myself, at least, I disagree with the BMI.

Aw, thanks Missy!! :D :D

Here's another picture of a girl who I think looks really good and healthy, but BMI says "overweight" on that link.

My friend runs a Bootcamp Challenge program and they refuse to go by someone's BMI. They do the skin fold test instead. :)

Dani, You are beautiful! Congrats on the baby! I disagree with the BMI as well.

Lots of beautiful fit people here.
