NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

My first workout, post RT, and what do I do??? KPC, my first love....NOPE...Muscle Max...NOPE.....Drill Max.....NOPE

I did BASIC STEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What did you people do to me???? I don't do step, this is impossible!!!

The energy from that first step class on Saturday was something I have never experienced before in any workout class I have ever taken, including KickBox!!!!!

I have a renewed determination to become better at step because of that class alone!!!! Did I miss up....yup, big time...knees around the world and turn step got me every time...but unlike last go around, instead of shutting off my DVD, I just did the best I could, and kept smiling all the way through.

I welcome the challenge of learning this...albeit at a much lower level then the rest of you. I saw people doing it at their own pace on the RT, it convinced me I don't need to be an expert at it to have fun with it!!

Don't know whether to thank you all or not!!!!

You go, Jerry!

Great, Jerry! My daughters recently mastered Basic Step; I bought them Low Impact Step at RT. They can sympathize with your frustration, but they are standing over my shoulder saying, "You can do it, Jerry!":D

Jerry, whooo hoooo you are going to enter a whole new world of fun with this attitude! I LOVE Basic Step, I still reach for it (even though I can do more challenging stuff now.) Then you can do Low Impact Step (another good one) and pretty soon, you'll be doing all kinds of Cathe step!

I still take forever to learn stuff--I JUST mastered LIS step (only took a MONTH.) But now that I've got the whole thing, I'm having so much fun! Just think of learning step as your "mental workout." The brain needs to be challenged too, after all! Ha ha!

Happy Basic Stepping!

Jerry, I told you it made me so happy when I pivoted around and saw you doing step class there! I just knew you would have fun -- how could you not?! Keep steppin'!!!

Jerry,

Welcome to the world of stepping! If you want another very easy to learn, intermediate/advanced level step workout just to get more familiar with stepping, consider Kathy Smith's Great Buns & Thighs. Of course, Kathy's not Cathe, but it's only 35 minutes of stepping and it's very easy to follow and lots and lots of squats. Low impact and not a space hog at all. That's how I first learned step and lo and behold, I can now do Rhythmic Step, 4DS HIS/LIS and even Amy Bento's ASC2! HTH!

Have fun!

Hey, Jerry,
Another one I got for my DDs to learn with is GO Step -- Step Workout for Beginners by Kari Anderson. It's not Cathe, of course, but it's a great beginner workout and it's 45 minutes long. Her crew includes people of every shape and size, and there's even a man!

I can see it now...at next year's road trip you'll be telling Cathe to move over because you are going to show the class how to do step 'the right way' !! Way to go and keep it up !!!!!!!!

Aw, Jerry you got bitten by the Step Bug! It's my favorite form of cardio (as my screen name so subtely hints...) Cathe has so many wonderful, wonderful step workouts that it's a shame not to have them and enjoy them. You're going to have so much fun with them once you get a little more accustomed to the moves.

Enjoy!

Allie, that's just what I'm afraid of!!!

YOU ARE NOW A STEPPER!!! SURRENDER NOW RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!!

Yes, what she said!

I thought I was never going to figure out Basic Step, but now my favorite workouts are Rhythmic Step, Step Blast, and the step workouts from 4DS. You may be surprised at how quickly you get addicted. ;)

That is the only thing I miss about a gym -- the energy and noise that are generated in a step class. I can't even imagine what it must be like on the Road Trip (but hope to find out!). That's great to hear that you had such a wonderful experience.

The funniest thing of all was, after the clas was over, I told several people, Cathe included, that I was only going to do a step class live, the energy would not be the same, and therefore, I would not be as motivated to try step at home.

When I got home, I had this feeling that I wanted to do step again, that I wanted to "embrace the challenge"..so I'm doing it!! Counting on the memories of RT weekend to help me through the rough patches!!

Jerry, I think it is great that you are giving step another try!! For me, I knew from day one that step was IT for me, but I have discovered other things that I love (mainly because Cathe has MADE me love them!).

Good luck!!

Jerry,
It was really great to meet you this weekend. Just keep practicing and you'll get it.

Kristin

Jerry You are a hoot! :p

It takes a very strong man to admit he likes The Step!

Have fun!

I got to go to Canyon Ranch last summer and in one of the step classes I took there was one brave guy who was trying it for the first time. He gave up after about 15 minutes, but he gave it a valiant try and we all applauded him when he left. He got a kick out of that.
