The Ring

Ok I finally gave in and watched The Ring to see what was so scary, well I really hate to say this but it Did NOT scare me at all. It was a good movie but confusing at the end of the movie, like why was she shoved into the well just to survive and her boyfriend or who ever he was died. I guess I kind of knew what was going to happen after watching Scary Movie 3.

I love The Ring and I can't wait for number 2 to come out in March :) . I just rented The Grudge and also loved it. I really like movie's that can scare without blood and guts they are just scarier to me :) . I went and saw Hide and Seek and was disappointed because it mirrored a favorite scarey movie of mine that was released last year, otherwise it would have been a good movie. I'm going to rent Saw today, that looks good!

That creepy little girl coming herky-jerky out of the well and out of the tv at the end didn't scare you? I gave me the creeps (and nightmares!).

She figured it out herself: if you pass the movie on to someone else who watches it, you will survive. If you are the last link in the chain, you will die.

I'm kinda of confused as to what you're confused about.... She wasn't shoved in the well to survive, I think she was shoved in so that she could find the girl's body and figure out what happened to her. First time I saw it I thought the movie was going to end after that scene where they were rescued and the police were there, because I thought the whole point was that the little girl wanted to be found and taken out of the well or something to that effect.....but I guess not.....

Hijacking the thread for a bit -

I've never seen The Ring, but the creepiest movies I've even seen were Angel Heart and Bram Stoker's Dracula. Keanu Reeves was horrible in Dracula, but Gary Oldman was just so over the top it was fabulous!

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled thread! ;)

You should see the orginal! It's a Korean film called, "The Ring Virus" and it was creepy as heck...much, much better than the American version.

Ringu is actually the original japanese movie that the ring is based on. i recommend watching it, it explains a little more. and the subtitles are well done. the asian series of movies are based on about 5 books. i want them so bad!! but they aren't all translated yet. i think the movie has been remade many times in japan and korea.
the basis of the other movies like the ring virus is that they look deeper into what is killing the people and find that somehow a virus is getting passed when they watch the movie...weird....can't wait for more translated versions and the ring 2!!!!

I totally loved the Movie the ring. I just had a hard time because the TV came on and made you think she was going to die. then she doesn't but finds out what happened to the girl. goes home, the guy dies and I can see that, I so can't wait to see the ring two. and no the girl coming out of the well and out of the TV didn't scare me at all. I am used to watching movies like Freddie Krueger so this one was tame compared to movies I have watched. But loved it the same. I didn't care much for the Grudge.

My husband and I watched the ring and loved it. He told me later that he was going to call me later that night or the next day from his cell and say "Seven Days" in the little voice they do. That movie freaked me out. I want to see the second one also. We also just rented the Grudge and didn't really like it much. The only thing that I found creepy was the sound the dead woman made and when Karen was riding on the bus and the woman's ghostly face appeared for just a second or two on the window.

I thought it was dumb and my husband hated it. It's very rare to find a horror movie that's worth the time.

If you liked The Grudge, watch Ju-On 2 (the sequel to the movie that The Grudge remakes (Ju-On)). Talk about scary!

The Ring was dry until the end scene. If you liked it at all, and even if you really didn't, try Ringu - the Japanese original. It is FAR better, though there is nothing truly scary about it either.

Did you ever see 'The Eye'?

I'm a HUGE horror movie fan too!

I just didn't find a haunted video tape all that scary personally. I'm wierd though, maybe, if the movie is more realistic it's scarier to me than something I think could never happen. The Grudge, same deal, wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. I enjoyed watching them , but I'll wait for the Ring 2 to come out to video, they're rentable in my opinion. Now as far as a movie that can scar the heck out of me goes, I think that the scariest one that I've seen so far is Dawn of the Dead, that or 28 days. I woke up in the middle of the night, tunred on the news to make sure that there were no news casts saying that a virus has broken loss and is killing people! LOL!

OMG "The Eye" was fantastic!!! I have a large dvd collection about 50% American fimls and 50% Asian films and Asian horror films are pretty darn good...any one see "Bio-Zombie"? O.k., this was a horror/comedy but it is still one of my favorites.

If it doesn’t matter, why keep bringing it up?
