The only way to get things done around the house...

....is to have company over!

My husband and I have been in our house 6 years, and although we've done some improvements, a lot of little things were left undone. Until we hosted Thanksgiving dinner....

THAT'S what finally compelled me to:
- hang and re-arrange pictures in the dining room, living room and bedroom,
- install the three knick-knack sheves that have been sitting in my closet for a year
- mat and frame photos of our 2 cats

We are also hosting Christmas, so my goal for then is to clean up all the paint splotches from the baseboards down the stairwell (painted the walls 2 years ago, figured we'd get the stray splotches "next week"!) and paint the downstairs hallway.

Nothing lights a fire under my butt faster than potential embarrassment of stuff undone around the house!

I still have a hole in the drywall that I made two years ago when I got frustrated while putting up a curtain rod just before my in-laws came to visit. Well, they're coming back this year and I doubt I'll be able to get DH to fix it. I'm sure there will be comments. I also have a full length bathroom mirror I over a year ago. Since I can do that myself I'm sure it will get put up before they get here.

....or move....sigh  The only time I've ever lived in a completely finished home was the few weeks before we moved . Sort of like the cobbler's children being barefoot...the carpenter's family lives in an unfinshed house.....:p

Me too horseshowmom. My husband and I are carpenters. We finally finished all the little things, put it for sale a couple of days later, sold it in a week, and now we are doing it again for the 3rd time. I am hoping to stay this time. If I can just keep from getting bored.
