The "NO DIET" checkin

I'm having the same experience, Laura. I feel so light today and my jeans are loose in a big way. I'm eating more carbs and overall, more volume of food and here I'm losing. I'm sure its because my body isn't use to this and doesn't quite know what to do. In time, I'll have to go back to my strict eating (if I choose too).

Laura and Debbie,
I did that about 2 weeks ago when I went on vacation to VA beach. I set no limits on what I could eat and when I came home I was 2 pds lighter....I was eating ice cream, pizza, waffle for breakfast....etc.... I think my body probably went  holy cr*p what she doing????

After Labor Day I am too am looking to lose 10 lbs....seems to be the magic number here....and I plan on doing South Beach again....it really helped me shed the pounds.

Debbie & Laura - Nice going on feeling lighter, and lose clothes and losing weight!

I am doing really well again today. I think the planned and mindful eating is really helping. But it also probably helps that I can't smell a darn thing with this stuffed up nose from the cold. Not really fun to eat when you can't breathe while you are doing it!:confused::confused:

Have a question: Last night my dinner should have been around 6pm and with out it my calories would be really low, but between DD's soccer practice then having to go to work for a meeting I did not have a chance to eat until 10 pm. So here's the question-would you go ahead and eat a light healthy dinner at that late hour just before bed or would you skip the meal completely due to the hour?

I think we need to start that 10# check-in.;)

Hmmm, good question. Knowing me, I'd eat that late. I don't like to be too hungry when I get up to workout, even if it's just cardio. So yes, I would eat that late at night, but it would be something light.

I did eat because I figured there was no way I was gonna get through STS Triset Legs the next morning, but was questioning if I should the whole time.

Now I know we aren't bodybuilders (well, I guess in essence we are) but some hardcore bodybuilders set their clocks every 3 hours to get up and eat. Especially when its contest time. I could never do that, though.

I did fairly well today
m1-egg cups from oxygen abs mag, 1 pc toast w/ TB pb
m2-protein smoothie
m3-beef stir fry, salad w/ oil and vinegar, 1/2 c brown rice (this is where I slipped a tad-I had a bag of chips and a cookie) I'm a sucker for potato chips :)
m4-2 oz low fat cheese, 4 kashi crackers, 1 c carrots w/ .25 c greek yogurt dip
m5-soup

I did shouders and arms from p90x for 561 calories and 25 run/walk for 458-total 1019

Ditto from me on the loose clothes to Laura and Debbie!

As to eating late, I wouldn't. Only because I would not want to go to bed with anything on my stomach, plus I don't workout in the morning, so I wouldn't need the energy! I tend to not eat anything at all if it's after 8 p.m.

Ok, here are those recipes:

From Cooking Light Magazine

MEATLOAF

1/3 c. chopped green onions
3 tbsp. dry breadcrumbs
2 tsp. minced garlic (I used 2 cloves)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
1# ground sirloin
1 large egg, lightly beaten
6 tbps. ketchup, divided
Cooking spray

1. Preheat oven to 400.
2. Combine first 9 ingredients in a large bowl; add 1/4 c. ketchup. Mix beef mixture with hands just until combined. Shape beef mixture into a 9x4 inch loaf-pan on a broiler pan coated with cooking spray. (I did not understand this at all. I placed my loaf pan on top of my broiler pan, not sure what I was suppose coat with cooking spray). Bake at 400 for 20 minutes. Brush top of meatloaf with remaining 2 tbsp. ketchup. Bake 7 additional minutes or until done. Slice loaf into 8 equal pieces. Yield: 4 servings (serving size: 2 slices).

APPLESAUCE

1 tbsp. butter
3 apples, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped
1/2 c. water
3 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
1/8 tsp. salt

1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add apples to pan; cook 4 minutes, stirring frequently. Add 1/2 c. water, sugar, juice and salt to pan; cook 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cover and cook 25 more minutes or until apples are tender. Mash with back of spoon.

Have no clue what the calories and macros are. It was lumped in with a porkchop recipe. But this is really good!

Oooh, these look delicious! I've never made homemade applesauce before! Do you use or prefer a particular species of apple for this recipe?

I used braeburn apples and man were they good. Very sweet. I almost thought I should only use 2 tbsp. of sugar instead of three.

So it begins! The nice long Labor Day weekend is upon us! I hope everyone has a fun-filled weekend planned!

All is well and I'm starting to relax into my routine and not worry so much about my food. Oddly, even though I'm starting to not think about it as much, I'm staying well within serving sizes and unconsciously with clean foods. It's starting to stick and become second nature! Yea!

I'm pleased that my weight is staying stable even when I have a little something extra! We don't have big plans this weekend, so I should be able to stay pretty well on track!

Happy Labor Day to All and have some fun!

I haven't checked in this week, but I weighed myself this morning and have lost 5 pounds :)

My eating has been very good so far with just enough treats to satisfy me.

As far as workouts I've been kinda all over the board, STS Legs, Hardcore, Boot Camp Intensity Series, 4 day split, mostly Itreads for cardio.

I feel really relaxed about not worrying about the numbers, so far so good!

Well, I'll see how next week goes :)

Congratulations Chrissy! Good for you!

It is liberating not have that worry or take the time to track and count, isn't it? :D

For a holiday weekend, I've done fantastic! Only one splurge day (Saturday) and yesterday was completely clean with the exception of just a small bowl of ice cream last night! So far, today has been not too bad. I made biscuits for breakfast! I have mine with a little honey. It's leftovers today, so that'll be clean, too! Going out to bike and play tennis later today!

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful long weekend!

Morning all! I haven't had time to post because I'm on vacation. Needless to say, my eating is horrible. I'm trying to reign it in because I have a week to go and I don't want to gain any weight. I did well yesterday and I think today will be good too. Tomorrow my dh and I are riding our motorcycles somewhere so I'm sure the eating won't be great. Wed. & Thurs. I have to work but then I'm off again until Monday.

Hope you all have a great week! I'll check in probably on Wednesday.

Well, sounds like you're having fun, though! Enjoy the rest of you time off!

My eating was great all week, so I made the mistake of getting on the scale this weekend and of course....nothing. So that just completely depressed me and die to frustration and stupidity I completely threw in the towel and had a free for all.:eek::eek::eek: But I starting again today and have done well so far, especially to avoid sugar, as usually once I start on sugar it takes weeks to stop.

I need that 10# check in......

Well Linda, I can totally relate. Since being on vacation I bet I've gained 5#. I am feeling very fat today and will eat on target today and tomorrow, then I'm back on vacation until Monday. It's so hard to eat right when my dh is home. I try, but it's just hard when we are not home. I'm trying not to stress about it, but my jeans are so tight today I could cry.

Hopefully I'll be sick of eating junk food by Monday and get back to eating moderately. Actually, I know I will.
