The "Healthy" Grocery List

I am trying to get some ideas of different healthy foods to eat to incorporate into MY usual grocery list. Come shopping with me! Make a list of just what YOU eat and maybe we can all add somethings to each others list for ideas to create....The "Healthy Grocery List

RE: The

I live a dual life. There's one list for me and the exceptions I make for they family. Mine are first, shared with my veggie daughter. And I don't always substitute for myself when making chicken.

Sweet potatoes, white potatoes
soy milk, organic cow's milk
whole wheat tortillas, uncooked white tortillas with canola oil
whole wheat pasta, white pasta
brown rice, basmati rice
wild Alaskan salmon, free range chicken
organic beans, grazed, narural beef for tacos
whole wheat bread, white bread, fortified x(
veggie burgers, natrual beef for burgers
veggie bacon, bacon-bacon
vegan butter, butter-butter
free range, cage free eggs
Maranatha orgainc peanut butter
tofu
nuts
avacados
A variety of cheeses, cheddar, parmesan, Monterrey Jack
spinach, asparagus, broccoli are most commonly on the menu
mixed green salads with cukes, tomatoes, red onion, red peppers daily
My current kick is organic salad dressing fortifed with Omega-3's
onions and garlic are in nearly every meal

I love Wheatena, steel cut oats or whole grain waffles and Boca links for breakfast
I buy Amy's Organic's frozen meals for myself for easy lunches and try different frozen meals from Wild Oats because at lunchtime I never want to fuss with food. Wonderful ethnic foods are on the menu alot. I love Ethnic Gourmet's offerings.
A veggie bacon sandwich with lettuce tomato and veganaise rocks my world.

I always have on hand:
canned tomatoes, tomato sauce and paste
Bearito's fat free refried beans
Thai Kitchen rice noodles in a variety of flavors
Amy's lentil soup, Tabatchnick's frozens soups
black beans, garbanzos and Heinz vegetarian baked beans for the hubby
We always have bananas otherwise it's seasonal fruits plus I love organic frozen blueberries, strawberrises and peaches.
I love cherries when I can get them.

And I have just started to buy Tongaol tuna for my tuna eating husband. They are sustainable, caught small so they are not so mercury laden and although they are labelled chunk light in the U.S., they are the highest quality and much like solid white tuna.

I favor organics but buy conventional at times, except for beef, chicken and eggs and most dairy products.

Thank you! That was really fun! I love "playing" with my food! ;)

RE: The

Thanks everyone for your list! Gave me, and probably some others good shopping ideas!

I forgot to mention alot of things after reviewing mostly everyones list.

I get Muellers Low Carb spaghetti noodles and use Hunts Sugar Free Pasta Sauce. I buy the Whole Wheat noodles too when I can find them as it all depends what grocery store I am in.

Also, I buy about 48 12oz bottles of Propel.
Have a lovely day, and hope I made everyone hungry!!

fresh veggies:
lettuce,carrots,peppers,spinach,broccoli,brussel sprouts,green beans,snap peas,celery,corn,tomato,onion,potato,cauliflower,sweet potato
rice milk
yogurt
natural peanut butter
100% whole wheat bread
beans: chick peas,dark kidney beans,pinto,northern,lentils
tofu
spices: curry,garlic powder,garam masala,ginger,nutmeg,cinnamon,cumin,coriander,tumeric,black pepper,red pepper,dill
soup
nori

RE: The

These are very healthy looking lists! Mine includes:
skim milk
a wide variety of yogurt (mostly low or no fat, but the kids will eat the kind with the reeses pieces on the top)
cheese
parmasan cheese
deli meats
chicken
lean red meat
cereal: for me Kashi, cracklin oat bran. My DH doesn't want me to buy cereal for the family cuz I guess I pick stuff they won't eat!
Frozen pasta(cheese ravioli)
lots of canned tomatoes
olive oil
fruits and vegies--whatever is in season.
no fat muffins
french bread

OH yea, frozen pizza for the kids and friends
ice cream }(

white bread;( I used to say that my kids would NEVER know what white bread is. Then one day my DD (about 7 at the time) came home and wanted my to buy it. That was one battle I chose to not fight!! Although I have stuck by my guns on pork bacon. My son once begged me to buy "That crinkly stuff"
