The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo movie

It's not "easy," exactly, but it's gripping and the characters (particularly the primary female character) are fantastic and I loved the book. I also saw the movie, and thought it was OK - a lot was left out, of course, but the woman who played Lisbeth (the female lead) was terrific.

If you like mysteries, I think you'll enjoy it.

I've seen all three movies (my fave were the first and the third one) and I could tell that, although the films were good, a lot must have been left out. So I was tempted to get all three books. I just started the first one. Wish I knew Swedish... :(

P.S. The girl who plays Lisbeth is indeed amazing!

I didn't know there were movies of this series. Thanks for the info. I would say it isn't an easy read because there were sections that seemed to ramble on and on. Melissa

Once you get past the first couple chapters and get some of the characters in your head, the books are great. I'm not sure I want to see the movies. I'm always disappointed when I've loved a book.

I've seen these books in the store, do you have to read them in any certain order? Or are they all unique books?

Best to read them in order. It goes:

1) The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
2) The Girl Who Played With Fire
3) The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest (coming to US release in late May)

When I said these weren't "easy," I was referring mostly to content. The original Swedish title of the first book translates to "Men Who Hate Women," and while it's mostly a terrific "locked room" mystery, it also has some scenes of violence against women which may be disturbing to some. It's supposed to be disturbing, though, and I didn't think it was in any way gratuitous - it added to the development of the main character, but was also thought-provoking and socially relevant.

Don't let the "socially relevant" bit fool you into thinking this will be more educational than fun, though. LOTS of twists and turns. The start may seem a little slow, but once Larrson weaves it all together towards the middle, you'll be too engrossed to care.

Thanks, I thought this was more of a series book. Sounds really good, I may check them out.

Got a Nook for my birthday so I've been a reading fool lately. :D
