THE FIRM VIDEOS

Thank God someone asked this! I would like to know too as I'm considering hunting down every OLD Firm workout there is (I have a few) and purchasing those which have been re-released on DVD.

The very first workout video I started with was the FIRM's "Body Sculpting Basics" and 'til this day I still find it very challenging.

I have tried some of the new ones but I did not like them very much. Too watered down, intermediate-level at best.

I really hope that someone on these forums has a complete list!

I KNOW:) ME TOO
I JUST LOVE SUSAN HARRIS, JANET JONES GRETZSKY, SANDAHL BERGMAN, LAREINE CHABUT, JANIE POTEAT, TRACY LONG, AND THE OTHERS.

IT IS LIKE GETTING BACK TO THE BASICS. THE NEW VIDEOS JUST ARE NOT THE SAME. IT WAS SOMETHING ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR OPENING THE DOORS AND GREETING HER STUDENTS. I FELT LIKE I WAS A PART OF THE CLASS. I MISS IT SOOOOOO MUCH:)

I hope I am able to answer your question. I was a true "Firmie" before Cathe and had about 30+ of the first Firm vhs tapes. I finally got rid of them all this past summer, but I still have the Firm for Life book by Anna & Cynthia Benson which lists all workouts prior to 1998.

Total Body:
Body Sculpting Basics (Susan Harris)
Low Impact Aerobics (Janet Jones Gretsky)
Aerobic Interval Training (Sandahl Bergman)
Time Crunch Workout (Susan Harris and Kai S.?)
Abs, Hips and Thighs Sculpting (Lareine Chabut)
Complete Aerobic Weight Training ( Jayne Poteet)

Cross Trainers:
The Tortoise (Tracie Long)
The Hare (Tracie Long)
FIRM Cardio (Heidi Tanner)
FIRM Strength (Pam C.)
Prime Power Fat Burning
Prime Power Lower Body

Firm Parts:
Five Day Abs
Lower Body Sculpting
Standing Legs
Upper Body
Tough Aerobic Mix
Not-So-Tough Aerobics
Five Day Stretch

Firm Basics:
Sculpting with Weights
Fat Burning
Abs, Buns and Thighs

Hope this helps!

Thank you for that list Gin!

I know that several of these videos have been re-issued on DVD, with some of them being sliced up and/or compiled together, which can make it a bit confusing in trying to seperate the old FIRMs from the new.

Basically, if it has a "mansion setting" does that automatically make it an old FIRM?

For example, I've seen the DVD "Super Cardio Mix" with a pink background and Jen Carmen on the cover. This is a compilation of parts of old Firm videos, right?

Not adding much in listing the Firms, but I still have the 6 original Firm tapes when they were just numbers eg Firm I etc before they were re-named. I have them all on Beta and on VHS.! I just can;t seem to get rid of them, even though I haven't done one in years!

I have a number of what I think are old ones. I'm not too familiar with the Firm girls. I want to get rid of them. I will check which ones I have, let you know, and if you are interested i will send them to you. They dont have the original DVD cases as I put all my workout DVDs in one case.

My favorite is the Janet-Jones-Gretzky - Low Impact Aerobics workout.
I've borrowed it from the library a number of times.

No, the mansion setting doesn't automatically make it an old Firm. I think of "old" Firms as the Classics Volumes 1 through 6. Anna continued to film using the mansion set long after those volumes were produced. Super Cardio Mix is a compilation but it is not a complilation of the classic Firms. It includes compilations from workouts with Allie, Jen, Carissa, Dale, and I think a few others that I can't remember. I don't too much care for any Firm past the Classics but I do like Super Cardio Mix. The compilations using the Classic Firms are in the third list (Firm Parts) that Gin posted. As far as I know, they are only available on VHS.

Deb (fox2star),

I'm with you. I haven't done a Firm workout in years, but I can't seem to get rid of them.

I did part with 3 of the compilation videos and then was sad. That seems so strange.

But the Firm is how I fell in love with video exercise. So they sit on my shelf.

:)

I am also hanging on to the old originals. I did Vol. 1 cardio portion recently. I have all the newer Firm releases. Now that I have discovered Cathe they are way to easy. I decided to sell on Ebay with not much luck though. No one has even bid on the items. Anyone out there interested?

That is what I meant though. I refer to the "old" FIRM as being any videos that were released under the Bensons before they sold the FIRM name. So I guess my question is, are all of the FIRM videos with Mansion settings Benson Firms? I really liked the atmosphere of those so much more than the newer ones.

"Old Firms" is a rather loose phrase. There are the "classic Firms", being volumes 1-6, then there are the mid-era Firms that the Benson sisters and Mark H were still a part of. All of these had the elaborate sets you have mentioned. The Goodtimes took over and started with the BSS sets with gadgets and the workouts went from int/adv to easy intermediate. Now Gaiam has control and things have gone from bad to worse.
