The cost of working out!!!! What do you give up???

I love working out - LOVE IT! I give up the following:

Work pants
Makeup
Work shirts
Fun clothes
Fun pumps
Still have not bought my first pair of designer jeans!! :(

For the FOLLOWING

Tennis shoes
Cathe DVDS
Ipod stuff
Exercise Equipment
Socks
Sport Bras and Attire

ahhhh I guess its totally worth it, but I get so SICK of buying tennis shoes over and over and over......I wish they lasted longer...

Ok I am off my soap box - what do you all give up for workout stuff?

Ha that is good - ) I can definitely relate to that one as well.....if I know I am going out on a friday night for dinner, I squeeze in another workout the day before!

Yup. And lots of times, a decent dinner during the week. Not much time to cook, you know.

I give up nice, relaxing evenings at home with SO as well as nice dinners--no time to cook when I don't get finished with my workout and showered until 8pm. I rush home after work to get my workout in before my SO gets home from the gym. I've given up a lot of dinners out with family too. It's too bad. It makes me feel sorry for myself!

I give up housework. :D I have a routine down in the AM to do some quick things in the house before I go to work. When I get home, I get to work out. Hubby gets to fend for himself for dinner and I have a smoothie or other light & quick supper choices.

My floors don't get mopped often, but the basics are done and I feel much better having gotten my exercise in.

I also don't have as much time to watch tv anymore. Not so much a bad thing!!

That's all time-wise. Money-wise, I don't feel that I give up a whole lot. I'm not into make-up or designer clothes (one of my favorite pairs of jeans cost me $4 on clearance) or fancy household items like curtains (we have cheap blinds). I am into horses, so I sometimes have to decide "another Cathe dvd or a new tack item." :)

I give up:

sleeping late
slacking off
more money for cute clothes
extra time with the family
hours on the phone
laundry always being caught up

However, by losing weight and working out, I also gave up:

125 extra pounds
diabetes
high blood pressure
high cholesterol
kydney dysfunction
a shorter life span
always being tired
never wanting to do anything outdoors
not keeping up with my kids

I exchanged that stuff for:

a fit body
being healthier than I ever was
not taking any medication for above list of health issues
always wanting to be outdoors and/or active
looking for ways to spend doing fun activities
making my kids keep up with me
hopefully being around for many more years

Wow, this was like therapy!! Thanks!

I'm with Laura, Shelley and the others - sleep and social life. I'm up at 4:30 to workout so I'm in bed by 10 PM. On weekends I sleep in a bit (7AM LOL), but I'm still nodding off at 10PM.

Housework for me!!! And I have given up going shopping, of course I really don't like to shop unless there is a sale. I have giving up buying more vids because I just don't have the money as well as going to the gym like I want to get out of the house. Oh well, it could be a lot worse. Annette

If anything, tv and cleaning. However, I do not miss either! ;) As far as social life - what's that anyways???

I have to say that I gave up money!!! And it all went to Cathe!!!

Oh, I LOVE Vicki's post......

(Love, a T12er!)

I was ticking off all the things I give up (ie: sleep, dinners out) until I read Vicki's post and that put everything in perspective

Thanks for your post Vicki!!!!

A social life and a love life. I don't go out often enough to meet men so I don't have many boyfriends or girlfriends for that matter. Just as well really, as I am a pain in the a*se sometimes.
