The change of Seasons

For those who hate winter, come to Houston. We have fall, a little spring and then summer. Winter really doesn't exist. :p

To me, fall means some cooler weather (but bummer it won't be hot enough to keep swimming in the pool!), and fun decorating for halloween, Thanksgiving, and then Christmas. I love to wear my sweaters - thanks to being cold-natured, it IS possible! I like to switch out my closet from summer to fall/winter; it's like getting new clothes all over again! Also use that time to clean out clothes I haven't worn and just generally clean up the closet. Love soups/stews/chilis. I make an amazing veggie stew (not bragging - it is a good recipe and easy - just tastes really good...has nothing to do with little ol' moi!) and really spice it up. Add either cornbread or garlic bread - yum. We don't get so much of the changing of the seasons, the leaves, etc. The brisk air is wonderful though, and feels so crisp and clean, although it brings plenty that makes me sneeze

I hadn't read this thread earlier, but glad I did. Makes me look forward to fall. We are having our first cool front, thankfully on the heals of Ike so the poor people still without power won't suffer as much, and I just got a new Halloween decorating book in the mail today. I'm all excited now... !

I lived in the Lower Mainland (Vancouver area) of BC for 25 years and had gotten used to two seasons: less rain (summer) and depression time-gray (the rest of the year).

Since moving to the Kootenays, I love each and every season as it unfolds. Fall is amazing here - the leaves change, the air is crisp and fresh, everyone's gardens are full of harvest and there are still flowers blooming up to the last minute.

I am one of the strange ones that love the winter also. As a child I lived in the interior of BC and always had a white Christmas there were brilliant sun filled days where the snow sparkled like drifts of sugar -- and now I have that again! I gladly shovel snow in exchange for missing the soggy grey days that used to represent winter in the Lower Mainland. I love getting cold and then coming in and building a fire and drinking cocoa!

Spring and summer are so amazing here as well - I love how well defined the seasons are and how I get to see nature's cycle every year.

The best thing about autumn is that's the time all the ski swaps start around here. :p:p

Yay winter!!! Let it snow!
