Thanksgiving calories - what's your plan of attack?

We don't have thanksgiving over here, but I guess the same applies as to Christmas. I don't like the whole making myself suffer before and after: It seems silly to me (mainly because I get cranky when I suffer). Although it's miserable, I have all athe things I want, but only TINY amounts of them. And exercise as OFTEN as possible. I dread the holidays becuase it's just a calorie fest, but there are ways to treat yourself, while still restrict yourself :)

One chocolate instead of 4.
No potatoes
etc.

However, I load up the stuffing. I just can't resist!
But don't worry about it, and have fun :)

I think it's a crime to diet on major holidays. this is a time to feast not for low fat stuffing. It's one day, enjoy it, indulge and then move on. Don't take home leftovers and don't allow any leftovers in your fridge if you are hosting. have some containers or foils/paper plates ready and send off your guests with some food.

So you all were so very helpful w/my Thanksgiving manners thread :D:D I was curious how everyone handles the loading of the plate???
Do you prepare ahead by being "really good" the days before - "really good" the days afterwards. Cook healthy, controllably taste a bit of everything & enjoy w/o going hog wild or totally dig in?

For me I will be very aware of my food choices in the days beforehand, no nibbling & tastefully eat of bit of everything I like. Lots of self control yet also enjoying it at the same time.....posible you may ask? Absolutely. :p

I did get a devotional book to help me thru the holidays that I may be grabbing in desperate times ;)

We make dinner healthy. Lean turkey, yams with no butter or sugar, whole wheat dinner rolls, home made stuffing with lots of veggies and whole grain bread, mandarine oranges with the cranberry sauce. But dessert...now we're talking. I'm having my sweet potato pie, with two scoops of eggnog ice cream and a glass of chilled champagne. Then I'm going to dance my butt off and I may go back for seconds!

I just eat normal before and after. I treat myself to a nice dessert and that is pretty much it. It still feels like a holiday without totally stuffing myself on garbage.

I'm planing on eating everything I want, it's only once a year or maybe twice. I try to cook healthy,
Fried turkey
sweet potatoe pie
pumkin pie
green bean casserole. etc. etc.
New year, new me!!!! Workout, workout.
