Terminator!

UnstrungHarp

Cathlete
Hi, everyone! I am a new member who recently discovered Cathe via FitTV. Since FitTV has changed their programming (for the worse, in my opinion), I have finally opened the pocketbook and bought my first Cathe DVD. Obviously, I've never done any of Cathe's workouts without commercial interruption so far, so I know I'm in for a real treat once the DVD gets here.

Which DVD did I choose? Terminator!! I was shooting for a selection of all-purpose workouts (cardio and weights) that I could do on alternating days (such as Monday-Gauntlet, Wednesday-Viper, Friday-IMAX Extreme, and some other workout on Tues, Thurs, and Sat).

So, did I make a good choice? I know, you can't go wrong with Cathe! I'm just wondering if I'm going to be overdoing it in any way. Also, when I come back to order another DVD, which I'm sure I will, what would be a good choice for the non-Terminator days of the week??

Thanks in advance!!

Yes, you did good, but these are all very tough workouts (but doable)! They are complilations from the Intensity series and all run 70 - 80 minutes in length. In my opinion, depending on what you do those other three days, these could be a bit much every week. I generally would incorporate only one of these a week.

As to what else you should purchase, what else do you like to do? What do you normally do for your workouts? The Terminator workouts all incorporate weights. Do you need some all cardio workouts? Getting Step Blast/Step Jump & Pump DVD might be a good option. It's loads of fun! Or you might get Rhythmic Step with MIC and IMAX. There's so many choices!

I would recommend getting a strength workout to supplement your terminator workouts. Although these workouts include weight work, they are circuit workouts and are primarily cardio not strength training. My favorite strength training workouts are the Slow and Heavt Series and the Pyramid Series. For less intense cardio (less than terminator)I like Step Blast and Rhythmic Step.

Thanks! I've done all of the Slow and Heavy and one of the Pyramid Series on FitTV (edited for commercials, of course!). I really liked them, so I might consider those for the alternating days.

I'm really curious about this new hardcore series, too!! :)

I forgot to mention that I don't have a step. I've always done step workouts on the floor, just with increased intensity. I also currently do a lot of advanced Tae-Bo for cardio. However, I think once I start getting more of Cathe's workouts, I'll be saying goodbye to Billy Blanks! :)

If you like cardio in the floor you have MIC,KPC,CK and SJP with only 16 minutes of step.If you have terminator I think ME or PH will be good options for endurance and the PS for strenght.

Hi and welcome. I think you made the right choice just because you have a Mix&Match menu on these dvd on the main menu where if you just wanted to do weights only you just pick a weight that you want to do first then it plays and when you are done it goes right back to the Mix&Match menu and then you make your next selection. The same with cardio which I am always using. My favorite is mixing the Cardio & Weights cardio only and Imax 2 cardio only. Another one is Doing Boot Camp Cardio mix with Imax 2 cardio. Their isn't much Strength so I would either get The Pyramids or Superset/Push Pull from the Body Blast Series which are more strength then endurance. My 3rd choice for weights is S&H. For Cardio if you like kickboxing then I would suggest Kick Punch & Crunch + you get Legs&Glute which is a great workout:). Hope I made sense with the Mix&Match stuff and If you have questions about it just ask. HTH:)

Thanks to everybody for your help. I just got my Terminator DVD in the mail a few minutes ago, and I'm about to give it a try. I think I'll start with the Gauntlet today....I can't wait!

I will keep all the suggestions in mind, and maybe I can ask Santa for some more Cathe for Christmas. :)
