Target weight is odd increment

Some of my target weights are odd increments (like 11 lbs. and 13 lbs.). How would you use that when most dumbells jump from 10 lbs. to 12 lbs. to 15 lbs.? I have all increments from 1 lb. - 8 lbs., but then my dumbells jump to 10, 12, 15, 20. I would think I would lose form if I tried to hold the 10 with the 1 in order to get 11.

You could use Cathe's weighted gloves to add one pound to each hand. I have one and two pound wrap around wrist weights with a thumb hole that lets me get to most of the intermediate weights and don't interfere with holding the dumbbell.

I have platemates that are 1.25 pounds each. Sometimes I put one on each dumbbell, somtimes 2. They were about $20 per pair and I have two pairs. So, it's expensive. I got them from a fitness equipment store, but I know there are sellers on line. I did disk 1 today and used them a lot.

I have rubber hex dumbbells, so can't use the Platemates or similar products. I'm using wrist weights and weighted gloves. They worked great during the 1RM testing, so I know they'll work fine for the program itself.

Cathe sells Micro Load Gloves.
Each comes with a (2) 1/2 pound removeable "sand bags" ... They are open on the bottom so you can lift easily with them...LUV them for upping the weight loads incrementally

Does it feel awkward to have extra weight in the hand/wrist area as opposed to on the actual db? I do have some plate mates, but since I have a mishmosh of dbs they don't fit on all of them...

i too had a mish mosh of types of wts & got tired of trying to find the plate mates/ wts that would stay on them all...The gloves dont take long to get use to... By the 3rd or 4th exercise I forget I have them on.
I put on my lifting gloves THEN the Micro Loads... Very nice & not awkward on your palms since they are open.

You can also get Pace weights to add 1/2# increments to metal dumbells or barbell plates : http://paceweights.com/

While they may stick to some neoprene- or vinyl-coated weights, I don't think the hold is strong enough to be secure (I've tried both Pace weights and Platemates on my vinyl-coated weights, and wouldn't trust them).

I also have 3/4# Platemates and 1.25# Platemates to use when those increments are close to what I want or need. (They are a bit more convenient than Pace weights, IMO).

Both products are pricey, but they are worth it if you can use them. I've used my Platemates a lot over the years, and I found them to be well worth the cost.

Thanks for all the ideas. I did STS DVD #1 today. I tried using the 1 lb. sand bags that were in my adjustable ankle weights to make an 11 and 16 and it worked fine just holding it along with the dumbell. When I needed a 14, I held my small 2 lb. weight with the dumbell. It was a little more awkward, but it worked okay. I don't know if I would like a glove since you need to either put it on or off when you change weights.
