hi all

thanks again to Marlene for sharing her totally incredible tank top rotation with us !! I am gonna be starting my 6th week today of this.. how long can i do this and get results?? Any suggestions.. i was considering starting a slow and heavy rotation but i am not sure if i should start this week or next or what?? Hey Marlene if your out there or any of the other greats.. cruncholi/ aquajock/ susan54/ jillybean/etc.. chime in and help me out as well as all the greats i don't know yet.. thanks in advance .. candy

Hi Candy!

Id' say as long as you are STILL getting results, keep with it. You can do a rotation for 6-12 weeks, with the exception of the S&H (3 weeks) as Cathe recommended. If you feel like you are still getting results from the TTR and you are not burned out on it, go for it. If you are itching to get back to S&H like I was, take a break from the TTR and then go back to it after 3 weeks (or 1 or two weeks, just to shake things up a bit) Just my opinion. Maybe, someone else can chime in also. That TTR is awesome!! Keep us posted.

thanks again

RE: How many weeks?

I usually stay on the rotation which has been dubbed "tank top" for 10 to 12 weeks.

What keeps it fresh for me is substituting Power Hour or Body Max (instead of MIS) for one day each week I do a full body workout. I don't have a set plan for which one I will use. I just do the one I feel like the most on that day.

Also, for the leg workout day I began last spring inserting Lean Legs (from the CTX series) as the one I would perform as my additional leg workout each week (of course, my other leg workout day came from MIS/Power Hour/Body Max choices). Sometimes I substitute the full Pure Strength Strong Legs and Abs session instead (when I have the extra time). When I have less time and still want to do a leg workout I use MIS's barbell leg portion plus Pure Strength calves snd inner/outer thigh routines. This takes much less time than other leg workouts.

I have found that to keep motivated I have to be somewhat flexible in what workout I will do each day. For example, if I have planned to do the entire Pure Strength upper body work on a particular day, but find I am lacking the enthusiasm or the time needed, I just use the CTX shoulders, biceps, triceps and I am satisfied that I have accomplished that. I save the longer workouts for days I am feeling strongest and have the proper amount of time available so I don't feel I have to rush through it.

Once in a great while I use the Corey Everson tape, Get Hard Arms and Shoulders (I think that is what it is called) in lieu of the CTX Shoulders, Bis and Tris.

After the tenth week on this rotation I play it by ear as to how much longer I want to do it before switching to Slow and Heavy. If I am growing bored I will go to a Slow & Heavy rotation after week 10. By week 12 I am definitely ready for a change of pace and make the switch then. I stay with S&H for 2 to 4 weeks. Then back again to TTA.

RE: Thanks Marlene

Marlene, I also have been on the rotation for about six weeks and I really see the beauty of it now. Pat yourself on the back because you really hit the nail on the head with this one, sister.

I found it's best to always do PS upper body on day one (after two days of upper body rest)and lift heavy and then light on CTX and Mid-weight on MIS/PH days. I took the liberty of "marrying up" Meaner Legs and CTX Sh/Bi/Tri and doing them together on one day so I can get three full days of cardio in.

I had a real hard time breaking myself in to this work out just because the demands were so much more than what I was used to. So many achey little pains, and I had to drop my wights WAY down to get the job done. Now I'm back up there. And BOY is it worth it!!! I haven't seen results like this since I was just beginning (probably 8 years ago)way back with the FIRM. When you've been exercising a long time, you just don't get a major change as you do when you're a beginner. I'm a happy camper.

If you don't mind me asking . . . I'm curious as to your body type. Do you add muscle easily? I have a feeling you have no problems with "bulking" just as I don't. (I just laugh and grab my twenty pound dumbbells when Cathe says to light on shrugs in PS.)

I also love your push-up post. But . . . push-ups still suck every time I do them. At least I can do them much better thanks to that advice.

Keep on posting, Marlene, your the bomb!

RE: Marlene's push up post

Welcome to the triple posting club! I'm glad it's not just me. I'll tell you what I've got here. I've got page 6 of a 7 page post (Marlene put up page 6) on September 26, 2001. The original question posted (I don't know which forum, but check "ask Cathe" first) was: "Why can't I do push-ups?"

I hope this leads you to it. I love it. It's really helped me conquer a beast.

RE: Thanks to everyone out there

Dear Amadeus:

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am blushing. Frankly, I have been reading several posts and seeing how many others have achieved great results with that little rotation I dreamed up that I am awed. I never dreamed that I could make up a rotation that so many people have had success with. I have no special training. I just slog away here at home and try to figure out what combinations will work for me. I am thrilled that I have made a contribution.

Good idea to combine CTX shoulders, bis and tris with the Leaner Legs to get it all done in one day. I may have to do that. Usually I just do a CTX cardio after the weight workout because the DVD is already in there. I just shop around for the cardio I feel like doing most.

You asked what body type I have. I really don't know what you would call it. I have a tendency to bulk up in the quads and have to reduce the amount of weight I use for squats and lunges as a result of this. I may go heavier for a week or two and then go lighter for several weeks if I feel my pants legs getting too tight. I can put on upper body muscle with a lot of effort and have gotten cuts and definition with the tank top rotation. My shoulders seem to respond the most. I guess you can say that I look somewhat like Cathe does in the Pure Strength series. My shoulders are wider than my hips and my waist does not cut in enough to give me an hourglass figure. I go as heavy as possible on upper body because I am not at all worried about bulking there.

Hope this helps. I also hope it does not post three times.

Marlene
