Surviving Hurricane Ike

No power, no A/C, batteries low.

Just needed to get a ruling on this critical issue. If due to an act of God, such as Hurricane Ike, ice cream in the freezer is going to go bad and you eat it to save it from ruining, those calories do not count? Am I correct on that??

I think maybe they even count as NEGATIVE calories given the fact that if you are not already sweating you soon will be without a/c!

Marianimal - where are you? We did get power back, but Mom and Dad still haven't. They brought all of their freezer food over yesterday afternoon, and speaking of ice cream, they brought some of that too. Well, it was a little soft after sitting in their freezer and then the ride over. Mom tripped just ever so slightly - never would have even been noticed EXCEPT she had 1/2 gallon of mushy ice cream in her hands and it went EVERYWHERE! Under the fridge, on the fridge, the walls, my daughter's drawings on the fridge, and covered more real estate on the floor than you would think possible. :D So, YES, eat the ice cream and enjoy every minute of it. We are in Sugar Land. I looked at your profile and it didn't say anything but Texas. If you need something, let me know if you are anywhere near. I know some stores are starting to open, but then immediately running out of what people need.

Thanks Shana-- we are around Shepard and Westheimer near downtown. Hopefully soon, we will have power again. We are at my Sis-in laws in Pearland today recharging everything cuz they have power. Glad you got yours back on!
What a mess that ice cream must have been! Just proof you should always eat the ice cream first!
Thanks for your kind offer. Glad we all made it through in tact. We only lost a few shingles and a fence so we are very blessed. I hope you didn't have any property damage.
Take care!

Glad you have a place to go for some power. I did that exact thing Saturday, and then Mom, Dad, and my brother came here for some recharging (and of course, freezer use!) yesterday. We just had some roof damage too, but not bad, and a part of the fence down. Other than that, just one HUGE mess outside. We are blessed to have come through with only minor inconveniences. Once we had power, I watched TV to see what other areas looked like and was just devasted. Those poor people.

If you do need anything, just let me know.

Sorry for the inconvenience you all went through - but glad you could eat ice cream that was no calories  and basically didn't have too much damage.

I am sure we will be dealing with a large earthquake come one of these years and possibly more fires, but having been on the West Coast all my life I cannot imagine what you all are going through in the other areas of the states with the hurricanes and tornados.

Thinking of you and hope all gets back to normal for you and your families soon!
