Well, we've ditched our plans for the beach next summer for a Griswold trip out west Since DH watched the PBS shows about National Parks, he's salivating to go to some - and me too!
We are in the planning phases of flying out (no Griswold drive past the largest ball of twine, etc) to either Vegas or Reno. I originally intended to fly to Vegas and then drive down to Sequoia/Kings Canyon NP and then up to Yosemite and back. An RV forum I belong to recommended flying into Reno and taking in Lake Tahoe and then go south to Yosemite (and perhaps pass up the other two NPs)
I'm seeking thoughts or opinions from you west coasters or anyone having gone to any of these places. We are planning on getting a campsite at Yosemite FIRST as these usually book up within 5 min. of the opening reservation day (YIKES!) and then booking the rest of the trip around it. Renting an RV.
Yosemite is definitely a stopping place. Any thoughts on Lake Tahoe? Things to do? We are not big boaters and was wondering what there is to do around the south side of Lake Tahoe (other than take in the gorgeous scenery - wow!)
We are really excited to see Yosemite - sounds jaw dropping phenomenal.
