Summer Fitness Challenge - Apr. 4-10/05

RE: Tough love!

Hi everybody,

I haven't checked in for a while. Things have been crazy. I had a big party for my son's second birthday yesterday with all of our friends and their kids. Today is his birthday, he is 2. I have been cleaning, gardening, and organizing for days on end. I haven't been doing Cathe nor running. Tonight I am having ANOTHER party for my dear toddler for immediate family. So after this, things can go back to normal again. :)

I went back and read all of the posts.

Bobbi, I loved your motivational pep talk. :) I needed that. Junk food has been my daily staple for the last 2 weeks. This morning was fresh strawberrries, and coffee. Do you live in Florida Bobbi? I noticed you have a lemon tree, and your sister a grapefruit tree.

Lisa, awesome job on 64 pushups!!!!! That is phenomenal!! I can't even do 2 regular pushups.

Everybody seems to be doing a great job with their eating and especially workouts. I feel so lazy compared.

Good news!! My sister's baby doesn't need surgery on his skull. Turns out he has a very mild case, and the suture lines that are affected start to close at this age anyway. He is doing fine, a normal little baby. That means we are still going to Washington DC.

I am working out today, I think running. And starting the fat loss rotation tomorrow. I am running another 5k on April 30. I didn't plan on running another race so soon, but it is for my friend who has melenoma. :(

Diana, I hope everything is ok with your son. I am thinking about you. :)

Robyn, glad you are back. :)

Have a nice day everybody!

RE: Tough love!

Lori, I am in Arizona and my lemon tree is a sad thing, but my sister has a veritable orchard; her trees are mature and produce well. I had 7 lemons on my poor tree and little boys threw 4 of them over my back wall into the desert. After our wet winter my tree is covered with blossoms and I may finally get a bumper crop in December!

That's wonderful about your nephew!

They arrived at last and loved my dinner even though I thought it could have been better. ;) I forgot that my sister Jan would dump a tablespoon of sugar on top of her marinara. (Gag) Tonight I an having dinner at Mel's house. Stir-fried vegetables and fried rice. I was questioning her to get an idea about protein but I don't think there will be any. (Shrug) So I hope they make a ton of veggies! :) And at least I don't have to cook. This place was a madhouse last night! When I was a kid a typical holiday dinner was for 50 and my mother pulled that off with aplomb! I was boiging around like a rubber ball just to pull dinner for 15 together. Mom rules! But in the end I relaxed and enjoyed the company. I used to get so uptight about making things perfect I'd stress out the whole time. And I made sure the house was ordered before I hit the hay so I didn't wake up to a disaster! They are leaving Friday and it seems they just got here! :(

I am shocked by how sore my quads are after my little run yesterday. I am going to have to work around them when I do MM.

RE: Tough love!

Good Morning Ladies,

Thanks for all your kind words. I feel confident my son is fine, but he was being tested for seizure disorders. He passed out at school 1 time but I would rather have the Dr. tell me there is nothing wrong with him. I think he was overheated and dehydrated.

NurseLori-so glad to hear your nephew is just perfect! Happy Birthday to your little 2 yr old also.

Well I didn't get in my wt workout this morning, but am heading out for a run now. Hope to get in 6 to 7 miles.

Hope you all have a great day.

Diana

RE: Tough love!

Where is everyone, our check-in was on pg. 2!!!! I did MM today, and I love that workout. Every time I have been doing squats, I move my feet close together, really trying to target my hips and saddlebags. I read it some where on this forum, and I have read it before in magazines. I hope everyone is well, and nice to hear from you Nurse Lori, I noticed you have been MIA!!!!

RE: Tough love!

Hey Lori - I did MM tonight and I too love it! I'm pleasantly sore now.

I did really well with my eating today too. Someone brought two big slices of lemon poppyseed loaf and a slice of banana loaf back after lunch and I didn't go near any of it! I'm so proud! (Well, it's partly thanks to Angie for giving me moral support! Thanks Angie!)

RE: Tough love!

Hi Ladies,

This morning was power hour again. I've taken sections from a weight loss rotation that Cathe provided to someone before. I'm doing power hour and muscle endurance each twice this week, in between wt days will be Imax 3, MIC and Imax 2. Then the following week will be all circuit w/o's.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Diana

RE: Tough love!

Hello all! I have been TERRIBLE with food this week! I started off cheating and just klept right on cheating! So I'm going to do another week of Phase 1 (SBD) startig Sunday to try and get back on track. TOM came and really threw me off! :)

Started P90X - doing the classic rotation. I'll need to add more cardio to this - the rotation only calls for 2 days and I need more than that. Some Taebo and some Cathe - 4 times a week ought to do me fine. :)

RE: Tough love!

Good evening everyone!

I just conquered Imax 3 and I clicked my heels together for ALL the stinkin' plie jacks.

I also did Coremax segment 1. Those planks at the end kill me.

I have very mild DOMS today from upping my weights on the bicep section of MM last night, but it feels so good!

I had a fantastic visit with my sister today at her new house (she just moved in on Monday) out in the country. We sat in the back and soaked up the sun and warmth and looked at the horses in the field and unpacked some boxes. I discovered, however, that other people do not necessarily stock their fridge and cupboards with the same kinds of things I do. Let's see - in the freezer there were six containers of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. The cupboard had cookies, little chocolate cake things, saltines. In the fridge, there was Cheez Whiz and white bread and rye bread and lots of pop. I had to make do with a toasted rye and cheese sandwich with some honey dijon mustard, two bottles of water and an apple and a pear that I brought with me. I did have a cookie. But I managed to resist the chips entirely, even when the bag was offered to me and left sitting there gaping open with the demon chips staring me right in the face!

I grocery shopped on my way home, and I gotta say that you ladies are having some kind of subliminal influence on me. Okay, not so subliminal. I found myself cruising the organic section, which I've never done. I also eschewed many things I normally buy and now have cupboards and a fridge full of lots of new yummy things. Also, the hummus that they had was definitely NOT low-fat or non-fat (58% of calories from fat) so I decided to get chick peas and make my own.

I'm babbling.:p

RE: Tough love!

Hey, I'm there for ya, Shelley!

The evil powers that be keep bringing in junk to work all the time. There's always pastries, donuts, cookies, stuff everywhere. This morning someone brought in bagels with all kinds of fattening cream cheese. It's hard to constantly walk by that stuff and not grab a bite. I just want to do a Shelley move and dump it all in the garbage so I'm not tempted!! }(

Have a great one, ladies!

Angie

RE: Tough love!

I did the same thing last weekend, Shelley! I "discovered" the organic section of our Dominick's last weekend for the first time and stocked up. And this stuff is GOOD!! I'm totally in love with Amy's Organic Bruschetta. I had some of that and a sweet potato last night. Heaven.....

So can I ask for your recipe for hummus? That's a great idea to make your own. I had no idea the stuff in stores had so much fat. GREAT JOB resisting the chips! That's so hard to do....but you know what they say, you can't eat just one!

You know, my body is totally embracing the clean eating lately. No stomach problems, no headaches, I'm sleeping great, I have so much more energy and I just feel so great overall. And according to the scale, I'm 3 pounds lighter!

Angie:)

RE: Tough love!

Hello:

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome back :) and nice thoughts about my son. It's very much appreciated :)

Today I did CK. This was a week of 3 workouts. I'm hoping for 4 next week on my way back.

Diana: hope everything is ok with your son. Sending good thoughts/prayers your way that everything is ok.

RE: Tough love!

Shelley,

I just have to say I think you are really awesome!!! You always make my day. I did KPC today. I just got it last week and I've been overdosing on it!! Hey, Shelley, maybe you ate all of those carbs because your body was craving them.

That was quite a cyber slamming you got...but we probably ALL needed it! You're not alone.:)

RE: Challenge

Good Morning everybody,

Shelley, awesome job on increasing your weights, plie jacks, and resisting chips! Your sister's home sounds beautiful. My sister has the same pantry as your sister's. Little Debbies, ice-cream sandwiches, chips, and frozen burritos and pizza. It's dangerous over there. I often overeat when I am at her house.

Angie, great job with losing 3 pounds and eating clean!

Diana, I hope you are doing well. Give us an update if you can.

Lisa, Good for you for starting phase 1 again. You can get right back on the horse.

I did high step challenge yesterday. I am following a 8 week plan to run a 15k in the fall. So, today is 4 miles of running. I will check in later.

Have a great day,
Lori

RE: Challenge

Hello everyone.

Congrats Angie.

I treated myself to LM and did it today - I loved it. What a workout!

Glad I found the thread of how to improve the sound. Once I did it was great.

Have a good day everyone!

RE: Challenge

Good afternoon everyone!

The weather here is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! It makes me very happy.

Yesterday I did Rakemax for about 2 1/2 hours. Having big trees on your property is wonderful, except I wish they picked up after themselves. I also did Kickmax Bootcamp premix and the leg drills. Didn't manage to fit in Coremax.

This morning I did the BM Upper Body Conditioning and abs segment and increased my weights a LOT (from 15 to 25 lbs on the barbell for most exercises). I'm feeling it and I'm anticipating some lovely DOMS tomorrow! But it's such a sense of accomplishment. My 5 lb weights are starting to feel lonely and left out because I don't use them for anything anymore:p

This afternoon is more Rakemax, and a run in the warm sunshine in a T-SHIRT!!!!!!

RE: Challenge

Hi Everyone,

Well I am in the middle of a spring blizzard, expected to dump 8 to 16 inches on us. However, it is supposed be in the 40's tomorrow so it will be melting.

Anyway, Saturday I did GS Legs and KPC, and this morning was muscle endurance and Imax 3. Hopefully I won't be too tired for mic which is scheduled for tomorrow morning.

We should get the results from my son's eeg sometime this week.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Diana

RE: Challenge

Well, this day went downhill. This morning I managed to burn my hand pretty badly on the stove (it's a long story). Then this afternoon, I decided to make corn muffins (I was having a PMS craving) and I discovered that after replacing the blown element in my oven with the $50 one I bought yesterday, it wasn't the problem at all and so now I have to call an appliance repair person. So I drove to my friend's house, muffin tin and batter in hand, made the muffins, came home. And went for a run. Remember that run I had the other night that was fantastic and I added a kilometer? Well, this was the OPPOSITE of that run. I ended up having to walk back. Blargh. Oh well, at least I got a nice walk in the beautiful warm sunshine.

RE: Challenge

Diana, you are really working it!! Good for you. I have hopes that your son is just fine. :)

Shelley, Bummer about the burn. I was in a frenzy the other day, getting ready for a party, I burned my arm on the oven pulling out pizza bread. I hope you are OK. I was planning on doing a 4 mile run today. I only did 2, and walked 1. I am having soreness in my chest and hamstrings. I guess all the slacking off wasn't good for me. HSC wasn't that difficult, but I am feeling it today.

Tomorrow is stretch max and maybe MM. Have a great night.
