substitute exercise for chin ups

I would like to know if there is another exercise I could do in place of chin ups. Don't have the space for equipment, the band doesn't work, and am not sure the pull up bar in door frame will work.

What color is the band you are using. I just used cathe's red band and it works when I do as much as I can.

Someone on different post suggested lat pull downs. That is what I have been using until I figure something else out.

Hi Robin!;)

I'm doing the lat pulldowns with the band. I think that's a good exercise, and it hits the lats from a different angle than rows.

I'm really disappointed about not being able to do chin-ups and pull-ups. If our house wasn't on the market, I'd put in a chin-up bar in a second.

I didn't feel that the band was a challenging enough substitute for the chin ups. So I purchased a set of 3 long resistance tubing from Walmart. It allows you to attach multiple resistance tubes to the handles. Last night I attached the medium and heavy tubing and did the lat pulldowns with that - what i big difference!

I have the same problem. I can't do the chin up or the pull ups due to the same problem you have.

I also can't do the wall squats, so I've been doing regular squats during the wall sqaut part.

which brand did you get? They have a Cathe one with 3 bands http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10270028 is this the same one you bought?

The set of three tubes is perfect for the chin ups and pull ups. I got mine at Target for about 15 bucks. Works way better than the band. They have handles so you can get you hands into proper position and velcro so you can use any combo of bands you like.
