STSer's -- what are YOU doing?

L Sass

Cathlete
I am hoping to start STS 1/1/09. Of course the month preceding is the most tortorous month with all of the holiday parties, rich food, yummy drinks, friends, family, and fun. So what are you all doing on the pre-STS but pre-holiday front?

Workouts -- I'm working with a trainer till the end of the month, 2x weekly. After 3 mos of STS I want to go back to my trainer and see if I've made any strength gains. So I'm doing heavy wts and kicked up cardio - but missing my circuits a lot.

Food -- I am trying to be as clean as possible allowing myself only 1 cheat meal a week - but it is HARD this time of year. Part of me is tempted to just throw caution to the wind, enjoy all the goodies (and maybe NOT even in moderation ) and start fresh on 1/1. What are you all doing?

I am doing Cathe's Dec rotation and trying NOT to eat every sweet I see. I am losing on that front but doing the rotation..I plan on just taking it easy with my workouts enjoying the holidays and then we will see when STS actually arrives.

I am also doing Cathe's Dec rotation. I admit I have a hard time with the shorter times so I addon & still get my 75 minutes in. I saw awesome results from Oct/Nov rotations so I feel I'm ready.
As far as eating - keeping it rigid. I feel so much better when I don't eat the crap. Good example yesterday I made 2 batches of fudge. Nibbles a bit much while pouring into the pan & boy did I feel yucky ! The scale showed it this morning too. Not worth it to me. People will say "Oh you need to enjoy yourself...BLah Blah Blah" Ya know what, eating right is me enjoying myself ! It's when I eat all the garbage that I'm not enjoying myself.

I am anxious too to get my hands on STS!!

Hey, Lorrie! I'm doing Fitness Freak's AWESOME Dec 08 rotation!!! And loving every minute of it!!! It's an awesome heavy weight rotation using 4DS (done twice, YIKES) and GS (can you say DECLINE PUSHUPS in drop sets?)! :)

Food wise......yeah, not so good, but I'm 110% clean Monday thru Friday but it's the weekends that have been getting me. I'm not all that worried about it. I'm feeling AWESOME and really looking forward to starting STS as soon as it gets here!

Great question, Lorrie.

I am sticking with old faithful for workouts -- Gym Styles. When I lift like this, my body torches calories. I am eating clean whenever I can, indulging when something is going on (work luncheon, holiday parties), and baking AND eating lots of cookies!

I started a Slow & Heavy rotation but developed a slight nasal flare-up after a week and took a couple of days off. Now it's whatever I feel like on any given day, but mostly revisiting workouts I've not done in a long time or some I was too fearful of before.

I'm also eagerly awaiting STS. ;)

Ok, so do you want honesty or do you want the version I tell my mother!? lol!

Mom: so are you taking your vitamins, eating right and doing your exercises?
me: of course mom! (fingers crossed) you raised me right! I'm right on track and never felt better! I even ate my brussle sprouts last night with a wonderful grilled salmon fillet **secretly making that icky face and sticking my finger down my throat at the thought!**

OK, here's reality:

I'm sitting on the couch, with my computer in my lap, clicking on the frickin' "New Posts" button waiting to see if there is anyone else out there with less of a life than me! waiting to WATCH another clip of STS and drooling at the body I wish I had... I'm speaking of Cathe of course, or any of the ladies sporting cuts everywhere... Also thinking about the workout I just completed and wondering if I will ever be able to do all those drop set pushups at the beginning of GSCT! and wondering in utter amazement as those of you doing FF's December rotation manage to do them in FRIGGIN' DECLINE position??? are you guys NUTS!?

ah, microwave buzzer just went off... gotta go eat Mac n' cheese! LOL! gotta run! Amazing how quick you get your ass off the couch for food!

ETA: just so you guys dont think that I am sitting on the couch, being armchair quarterback, eating bon bons... I am also doing FF's December rotation in prep for STS... still feeling a bit out of my league, but will adapt when STS comes and I get into it! :)

Hi Lorrie..let's see, Dec 6th I officially started 12 weeks of marathon training for a March 1 marathon. Right now I am doing 3 weeks of 4DS upper, and alternating endurance legs and heavy leg work every other week. After 4DS I might do GS and see how the legs are doing with the running and endurance, heavy workouts.

I have recently lost some weight, much of what I had gained and then a bit more. I had been going in a bad cycle of weight gains, injuries, insomnia, irritability (peri menopause you think!!). I will try and do good through the holidays eating wise as I am using Cathe's Nutrition software (it keeps me honest). I am sure though I will have some cookies and Almond Champagne!!

Can't wait for STS...:D

Getting Ready for STS

Lorrie:

I am looking forward to STS too! I enjoyed the 4-Day Split in November. I am taking a break from Cathe and home workouts this month so I will be fresh and focused for a 14-week STS rotation! I need to clean my workout area this month and get all my "toys" in order. I ordered and received Cathe’s resistance tubing with the door attachment last week. I bought slanted risers and heavier weights earlier this year.

I am doing all my workouts at the club this month--Zumba classes, jogging in the pool, and the recumbent bike. Michele fixed me up with Coach Sean, and I am having a blast with Volume 3 in the pool. I need to start my one-rep max tests soon. I am planning to start STS the first Sunday in January (the 4th). My Zumba teacher wants to train me to run/walk my first 5K in March, so that and Cardio Coach will likely be my cardio. I will be thinking of you! If you can walk for 3 days, I can walk for 3 miles!

I would love to throw caution to the wind during the holidays, but I cannot afford to do that. My body packs on fat like crazy. My game plan is to eat light during the day and enjoy party meals twice a week. I bought sweet treats from Whole Foods to enjoy in moderation too.

Tami, welcome back! It is good to see you posting again!

Dani, we will get through STS together.

Carole, I can relate to the bad cycles of insomnia and weight gain. Ugh! Add hormonal hurricanes and seasonal depression to the mix for me.

Blessings,
Heather B.

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV).

You all got it goin' on huh? Carole -- can you send those weight loss tips this way PUH-LEEEEZE!? Sounds as if I'll have to scoot over and check out FF's rotation.

Hi Heather -- hope you are progressing on your quest and hangin' in there gf. Wow - a month away from Cathe - hats off to you girl, but what a great way to bring the shock of STS to your body come January - bet you will get fantastic results. Didn't I tell you Coach Sean was da bomb? Glad you are enjoying CC -- do you have PP yet?

I'm on with my trainer today for legs and shoulders -- she'll kick my "throw caution to the wind" concept to the curb! With gusto! This woman is amazing -- she had me deadlifting 185 pounds last week and I thought I was all that -- TILL I saw her 5'0" frame pulling up 280 pounds!!!!! I wanna be there! The STS countdown is on my friends!

All I can say Carole is that you kick a$$ ;)

Heather...Looks like you are very well prepared for STS!! This hormone stuff is really for the birds!! Prepares us for those "Golden Years" right??..:)

Lorrie...I could be nuts for trying STS and marathon training though...:)...I will send you some weight loss vibes. Holy Moly, 280 for deadlifts!!! Your trainer is tough...

Beavs...thanks...:)..I am sure I lost some brain cells in High School which is why I work out so much and love to run!

I'm just doing what I usually do. Right now I'm doing a circuit rotation after about 8 weeks of heavy lifting. I'm really not "getting ready" for STS, I figure that STS will prepare me for itself...I'll start where I am and see gains as I continue...isn't that the purpose of it?
