STS NEWS YEARS CHALLENGERS...WEEK OF JUNE 5!

Hey Kiki! I've been meaning to tell you that the only 1RM that calculated for M3's SRL dvds are deadlifts after I inputted all of my weight load info from the other work outs. I am going to have to do the math manually based on the closest related exercises I can find I guess cause I'm NOT doing actual 1RM's! *crosses arms and stomps feet in Katie tantrum style! ;)* I refuse after how miserably they failed me the first time!:p

Aww, man, Wendy! That stinks! I guess it's good to know though, since you know I want to do SRL next go round. Thanks for remembering to tell me. ;) (you know how I get, lol, that would have thrown the plan ALL outta whack  ) ....Oh, and way to go on the goal weight! WW is what's up! I'm gonna recommend it to my SIL who was all over me about how to lose weight, get in shape, etc. while we were in Phx. I think that would be perfect for her, the food is SO the issue ;) IDK if she'll ever w/o, so she really has to get the food under control to lose anything.

Katie: Don't be hatin on the "ghetto booty" :p J/K :D Seems like no matter WHAT size I am, I'm always packing the junk! And yeah, I can complain as much as I wanna, but you better believe my DH is right there w/yours like  , "no worries, everything looks just right" What is it w/men?! My DH is always looking on "the bright side" of my weight gains, lol

Katie and Kiki: I am workin to get some junk in my trunk! One thing with STS is that my fav bootay jeans are now my baggy boot jeans!. I do my squats and stuff to get some nice shape there! So those of you who have it...enjoy it!! My DH, however, has a very nice junky trunk:eek: and he gave it to my youngest daughter who has the cutest bootay...is that TMI? We used to call my other daughter the plumber, cause she had NUTHIN back there to even hold up her pants!:D

I haven't worked out yet...but I am hoping on doing IMAX 3 after I put dinner in the oven!

I'm back and have completed IMAX 3! feelin' good. endorphins pumping!

fit mommy: I forgot to congratulate on reaching your goal!!! Congratulations!:) You should go and get yourself a new outfit or something!

ricklyk!: i still get messed up on IMAX 3 sometimes too, but now that I am not so afraid of it and am actually able to do it...I am liking it more!

Hi ladies - thanks for the advice about the weights. I appreciate it:) I forgot to say I have a barbell too, I gathered that item some time ago but barely have used it, it has 35 lb of plates which I don't think is very much but may do me with this program for a while (I found a Cathe weighted vest 10 lb at Tuesday Morning so I figured that will buy me some time for extra plates) ? I think I'll get 12 lb db and look for the weighted gloves or wrist weights next - then 20s perhaps down the line:) My husband is going to kill me - though he thinks the Tower is pretty cool:)

I did KPC this a.m. - had a hard time getting really into it for some reason - one of those days I guess - I ended up supplementing it with some jumping jacks and jump rope:) Tomorrow is Disc 3, Legs - I love/hate leg workouts - but I'm really looking forward to seeing what she has in store for me  I also will do a cardio workout - I'm planning on doing the Cardio Quick Fix:)

Food is always my issue - I can be quite good with exercise but don't get great results because of my eating... I love love cheese and chips way too much! Wasn't sure what to have for dinner but I had a delicious piece of grilled salmon my DH cooked for us the other night and I broke it into small pieces and put it on a big old bed of lettuce with tomatoes, carrots and a little light Ranch - yummy light dinner!

Is it too soon to think my posture has improved with 2 STS workouts down?

Wendy - Woohoo on the weight goal!!! That's awesome, congratulations! You should definitely reward yourself with something cute to wear:)

Katie - lol on the "ghetto booty" - too funny. I've got some of that going on too! Thanks for the recipe too - sounds yummy!

Tracy - Woohoo on getting through Imax 3! (I have it, but haven't done it - lol - I think it's part of the cardio rotation I have going though - gulp)

Kiki - I'm there with you on the cellophane prison - too funny! Great job to you getting through Imax 3 too! You all might inspire me to try it...later... Lol too on the ipod strap for the remote!

Have a great night everyone!

Well, last night I was able to throw in a bit of ab work while the guys watched the NBA finals ;) I did the no equipment Core Max segment :D That's two days of abs in a row, Wendy :) Today's agenda is LIC, so I can sneak in some more step on my weight day. I guess that also means that more abs are in store, huh  ? Ladies, "I do solemnly swear to do LIC this morning...with risers!" :p LOL Ya'll do know that when I usually say I "did" any particular step workout, that I'm just talkin bout using the platform, right? Oh, did I never mention that  ?? HA HA. I told ya, I was real new to this whole step nonsense. And quite frankly, I'm not sure my feelings will change much after the 4th of July! You just wait til after this road trip...Ima be a kickboxing fool!!

Wendy: I can't wait to hear your feedback on SRL, I'm definitely on standby for that report. Well, that is if you ever start, lol. Are ya getting an inkling to just jump into that Jan rotation, already? :p On a serious note, I do hope that your neck stops actin up. I hate that! It's so good that you're still able to get good workouts in though. ;)

Kris: That's good to know you have barbell, too. I was gonna suggest it in my post earlier, but didn't wanna bombard you w/stuff that I think you "need." I know a lot of people make do w/o them, but I LOVE my barbells. I do know what you mean though about DH wanting to kill you over buying too much stuff, lol. I'm a housewife, so I REALLY have to keep my spending under wraps, and keep things in line w/the budget. But I gotta say, after a couple of rounds w/STS, DH really has no qualms about my "fitness" spending anymore. ;) He's become quite....ahem, supportive...in my endeavors to stay fit. :p He gets more excited about the pre-orders than I do, lol. All I do is say, in passing, "oh, look, Cathe has a new ...(fill in the blank)"...and he's all "do you need me to grab the debit card?" ;) ROFL Matter of fact, this whole Road Trip nonsense was HIS doing. I'm like, "no, we can't afford it...we really shouldn't...I don't even know how to step..." Next thing I know...BAM!... the trip is booked, and Hello, cellophane prison of STEP DVDs!

Tracy: Keep up those squats & deadlifts (go HEAVY), and the junk will come! :p People really underestimate the power of a good deadlift, that move works wonders ;)

Autumn: Woman, if you don't come back here and start updating us soon....I swear.....I will hunt. you (and your entire stinkin' beautiful little family ). DOWN. in approximately 3 weeks and.....well, I'm not sure what I'll do. :p Ummm, make you watch me step  ? LOL Talk about torture  ! Can't wait to see you!!!! :D:)

Good morning ladies!! This morning I did Disc 17 + abs from PUB (well, kind of - my legs were shaking so bad from Disc 17 I only about half did the abs). Holy crap i'm halfway through Meso 2. Geez, where does the time go?!?!?!

Stupid me gave myself a nice bruise on my knee this morning. I'm not used to doing squats with as heavy of weights and I wacked myself in the knee with the side of the dumbbell this morning. No permanent damage - just feeling like an idiot (so of course I had to share). :)

Wendy: Awww thanks for your comment re my legs (woah that sounded kind of bad, haha :p ). Honestly i'm still not happy with the way they look but then again I don't think i'll ever be 100% satisfied! ;) I have been wearing quite a few skirts lately. I've gone down a pant size since January (yay!) and now the majority of my work pants are to big. Some of those pants were already baggy so now they're just really baggy. DH of course commented "why are you wearing those baggy pants, they actually make you look bigger." Bring on the skirts and dresses!!! The next time I go shopping and he bitches about all the money I spent i'll just remind him about those baggy pants he hates so much. :D I'm very eager to hear your report about SRL too! How is the neck doing? any better? BTW, i'm very impressed with your Katie Tantrum! Are you sure there's no red in your head? :)

Kiki: I think when you're new to step it is a GOOD idea to start out just with the platform. When I was previewing Step Moves for the first time I actually did a lot of the w/o on the floor without the step. It's a great way to learn. I bet you get to the road trip, get infected by Cathe's "step loving bug" and come back a step queen! Kidding. :) Kickboxing is still my favorite form of cardio too. My DH is right there w/yours like , "no worries, everything looks just right" This cracked me up! If don't quit giggling alone in my office the judge is going to have me committed. :) In law school a good guy friend of mine once commented that he "loved walking behind me." He meant it as a compliment but of course I wanted to punch him in the face!! ;) I don't really mind a nice ghetto booty (hehe) but my lower spine curves in slightly which also causes my lower back to curve in and my butt to stick out more. Seriously? Was that really necessary? :p

Tracy: Okay let's make a deal. You give me some of your amazing muscle and i'll give you a little extra junk for your trunk. :D If only it worked that way! :) You're story about your daughters is to cute!!! Great job with Imax 3!! It definitely causes an endorphin rush. Just surviving the workout is a cause to celebrate! I think Imax 3 has a bad rep. Yes it's tough but once you get do it a few times it becomes kinda enjoyable (notice I said kinda :p ).

Kris: Great job knocking out KPC (no pun intended). I completely understand about not being able to get into a workout - I have those days sometimes too! :) I usually HATE working legs but I LOVE STS leg days. They are my favorite of all the workouts (did I just say that? haha). I have had serious DOMS from every STS leg disc so far. As in, sitting down takes an extra 10 seconds, sitting on the toilet makes me gasp, and for most of the day I feel like the devil is walking around behind me poking me in the butt and hamstrings with his pitchfork. :p

Autumn and LaDonna: COME OUT, COME OUT WHERE EVER YOU ARE! :)

Good Morning!

This morning's work out was a 20 min interval cardio (tabata) work out ala BodyRock.com, LIS step minus the blasts and all of the ab/core work from BBC Back and Shoulders w/Joey aka Mr. Eye Candy. ;):)

Kiki:: WW is a great program for folks who won't work out as long as they stick to it! You don't need to work out in order to lose on it. Definitely suggest it to her! :) Best and safest way to learn step is either w/no step at all (just a towel or mat on the floor) or only the platform. I rarely learn a new routine with risers and when I was first learning how to step I used a folded up beach towel! Haha re if I ever get to M3!:p I am going to try it this weekend come heck or high water! Keep your fingers crossed for me that I don't have any issues!:eek: Good job with the ab work girl! ^5's! :D

Kris:: TY re the weight loss. I'm not done yet though so no shopping just yet! ;) Congrats on finishing 2 STS work outs! There is no turning back now! :D Your dinner sounds delish! Yup, food can be a killer. That's the hard part for me too! You are soooo not alone!

Tracy:: Great job with IMAX3! I guess it will be my turn soon enough. Do I have to?? LOL

fit mommy: you are so organized to piece together all those workouts!! woo hoo!.. I don't get it...:p it is beyond me! I am telling you that I am actually beginning to like Imax 3!! The only problem is...and this is probably TMI...with all the jumping I feel like I am going to pee my pants:eek: so I had to stop yesterday to take care of that...the joys of having 4 babies from 8 to 9 pounds!!! Don't know mr. Joey Eye-Candy, but I think a beautiful man is far more beautiful and glorious than a beautiful woman...just sayin...

Katie:; listen...I don't have hardly any muscle....:( for the life of me...my body type fights it for the most part..I should say...my upper body!!! and congrats on losing a pant size...that is so cool!!!. I put on a pair of my favorite dress Liz Claibornes a few weeks ago and they were wayyy to big!!! I was so thrilled!!! I love that feeling...Good for you!!!! When I finally get to my ultimate goal...I am going to buy new jeans and pants for sure...at least 3 or 4 but until then I have some jeans and pants that are small enough and can get me by.

Today I did Disk 17 (just like Katie) and I started this push up program from a book I found in the library...I love the library and we have a great one here...It's called 7 Weeks to 100 Push-ups. It assesses where you are on the push-up scale and then it gives you sets to do 3x per week...hmmm we'll see if I stick with it. But seriously, I love the lib. because I love to read and they have a great selection of dvds that you can check out for FREE!! and my kids like to go and troll there too.

I am meeting a friend for lunch so I have to hop in the shower...I have to drive 45 min. to get there!!
blessings

kiki: just had to say thanks for advice about the deadlifts. I often wonder if it does any good!.. But next time I will tell myself, "Kiki says it's good for my butt.":D Won't you be happy to be remembered this way? Sorry about all your step nonsense...I hope your workout sensibilities are not being over-taxed!;):p:eek:

Hi ladies!! I am in tutu hell (hope that isn't offensive to anyone).... it is recital week & this means run, run, run (hey, can I count this as cardio???? :p). Workouts... Let me see...

Hi there ladies!

I did Disc 3 this a.m. as planned - wow - tough, but I loved it:) I have DOMS going on for sure:) I also did 20 min. cardio -wanted to make sure I got it done. :)

Kiki - great job on the abs! Can't wait to here how the step goes:) And lol on DH response to your fitness spending - that's reassuring, hopefully my hubby will feel the same:)

Wendy - hmmm... Mr. Joey eye candy sounds interesting... lol! Great job on the workouts!

Katie - lol about guys comment about walking behind you:) Great job on Disc 17 and PUB abs! And I bruise myself constantly, right there with you:)

Tracy - i love a library too - the push up program sounds interesting (I don't think I'll be adding any pushups any time soon myself but that's awesome you're doing that)

Autumn - I'm new to the group and new to STS - lol on the tutu hell :) That's funny!

Must get back to work - have a great afternoon everyone:)

Kris

Tracy:: Oh trust me the peeing your pants thing is soooo NOT tmi because I have the exact same problem!!!! I pee before I work out and during my work and after my work out!:p I also have leaked on more then one occassion during a high impact activity and I only have ONE child!!!!:confused::rolleyes: My mish mosh work outs are not as organized as you might think. There isn't usually much rhyme or reason to what I do w/the exception of knowing I need to get cardio done or work upper or lower body or whatever. I just get bored doing everything "by the book" all the time so I like to mix things up by creating my own abominations at times! ;)

Autumn:: Nice work outs! LOL re your little Diva having radar on you. I swear my mom has the same radar on me---she always seems to call me at the wrong time like when I'm cooking dinner or trying to leave the house 5 minutes ago to go somewhere.

Kris:: Joey is from the Boot Camp 5 Day Academy Series. Look him up. He hawt!;) Good job on the work outs this morning! Way to get it out of the way!

Great job on the workouts everyone!!!! BTW, I am just jealous of you "junk in the trunksters"!! :p I want to go for a walk but the relentless mating song of the cicadas is too much now. I'm not sure what takes these critters so long to do their business... I mean one is just as ugly & creepy as the next... 6 weeks or however long this lasts seems a bit absurd. ;)

Hi Kris, welcome to the check-in. :) I'll follow Kiki's lead and give you some background. I compelted Meso 1 & 2 and then stopped STS. I am trying to lose pregnancy weight & have been playing with my workouts... in pursuit of the magic bullet which I am sure is simply consistency with workouts and eating well (unfortunately I like to eat... a lot... of everything.:p:eek:). Anyway, you'll find I'm all over the map with my workouts... searching for that magic bullet. :)

Tracy ~ I've been thinking of doing a 100 push ups challenge. I found it online. I want to improve my pushups & pullups (I'd like to be able to do just ONE unassisted pullup). I love the library & book stores. I dislike shopping with the exceptions of shoes, books, and stuff for my kids.

Wendy ~ Congrats on reaching goal!! I like Zuzana's workouts. She is so fit!!! One day, I'd like to try a month of her workouts & see what results I'd get. How's your neck? I hope you didn't catch my DH's neck issues via the computer. ;) He had a cervical fusion in '04 and the surgeon said he'd always have problems... his neck was and is just a mess. He is having an MRI tomorrow to see how it looks now. Funny note... he now has a screw loose literally... you can see it on the post-op films that one of the screws in his neck isn't completely tightened :confused:.

Kiki ~ I'm here, I'm here. Just trying to survive the tutus. Ha, I ain't skeered of your steppin'... now Ab Nazi makes me shake a little. ;) It is sooo close!! I am getting excited!!! I have to go clothes shopping... gonna buy cheap b/c I am not at my goal weight. I need some workout clothes too. I don't think y'all wanna see me in my at home workout attire, lol.

Katie ~ Congrats on the weight loss!!!! I bruise myself too. I dropped one of DD's tap shoes on my toes last night and of course have a bruise.

Wendy & Tracy~ PT is available for pelvic rehab... yep, been there & done that... and starting all over now. There are even weights to strengthen your pelvic floor!!!!:eek: Hope that isn't TMI. I am a Women's Health NP so I tend to be able to talk about things that make some people blush. :D

Off to decide on dinner.

ok..fit mommy and autumn: I have seen these pelvic floor "balls" that you actually ...um...put... um....yeah and then do the kegels. Yikes!!!! On that weird note, I have actually also read about this tribe somewhere where the women strengthen that muscle enough to inflict pain :D:p;). That might have its time and place.!

Thinking about running just 'cause DH gone...and am not making dinner.

Yes, there are vaginal balls, barebells, weights... all kinds of pelvlic floor fitness gadgets. :) I was discussing this with a friend of mine & we were discussing informercial ideas for my "kegelbells line"... it was hilarious... the whole "3 easy payments" and "hurry now & you'll receive KegelMax Xpress free... our gift to you". :D WOW!! That is kegel power when you can inflict pain :eek:

O.M.GEEEE Ya'll are crazy! :p

Yeah, Tracy, I can definately attest to what Wendy said about having to stop during w/o's and go pee, lol! DS looks at me like I'm insane, as much as I pause Cathe and run for the potty! He's been giving me this stupid smirk lately, saying how much he can't wait to see me try and do that at the road trip, rofl! On a side note...umm who's making dinner?

Wendy: I think my DH has the same radar that your mom and Autumn's Diva has. He calls me EVERYDAY while I'm working out. I workout at the same time everyday, he is not new here  . Yet he insists on asking me (in the middle of a set of tuck jumps) "whatcha doin?" Ummmm...do you HEAR me panting?!

Autumn: You might not be skurred of my steppin, but just waita ya see yo girl. You'll think twice bout tellin ANYBODY ya know me :p (Yep, I just got real ghetto on ya, lol). I feel you on the cheap w/o clothes, I've been waitin too, and I really need to get some clothes that fit. Period. LOLOL @ the home workout clothes! I know EXACTLY what you mean ;) You never know what you might catch a home exerciser in!

Oh, and Autumn, if you change that pic one more dang time....I WILL NOT COME TO THE ROAD TRIP! You're intimidating me. There, I said it, and what?! :p

Oh yeah, I did finish my w/o this AM as planned...LIC (with one riser  , I was so proud, lol) and STS Extended Stretch.

Aaaaannnd.... DH is working late tonight, hence I still have my butt on this computer, instead of doing something productive w/my life....maybe I should go workout again, before I start eating....

kiki: OK now,... isn't being on this forum doing something productive with your life????;) Come on!!!:D As far as dinner goes...on nites like this...it's every man for himself. I made dinner last nite...so the girls can have leftovers or a pb n j sandwich,,, or a bowl of cereal. Whatevah they want as long as its semi-healthy!!:D I just threw a salad together for me with some mystery meat I found in the freezer! I know about working out instead of eating...sometimes I just have to get myself exercising or out of this house walking the dog before I empty the pantry and fridge straight into my mouth!!!

"Oh, and Autumn, if you change that pic one more dang time....I WILL NOT COME TO THE ROAD TRIP! You're intimidating me. There, I said it, and what?!" LOL

Hi everyone! My name is Kristin and I was a member of this check in during the first 3 months. I started STS for New Year's and finished my first 3 month rotation at the beginning of April. The last few weeks I have been doing more cardio and full body workouts, such as MM, ME, SS, PP. I have also done weeks of 4DS and gym styles. I got the STS itch though and so I am doing another round, but this time 3 weeks of M1 and 4 all of M2. I am shortening it up so that I can be done before the NJ RT, which I am going on.

I recognize some names, but not many. Wendy kind of talked me into coming back now that I am doing STS again. Here I am Wendy ;)

Okay, some background info on me. . . I am going to be 34  on June 16. I have two boys, one is 5 (he'll be 6 in August), the other is 3 tomorrow!!!! I am a teacher and also just finished coaching tee ball for the first time ever. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Yesterday I did M1 D1, and today was AS and SB abs. Tomorrow will be M1 D2.

Kristin
