STS New Years Challengers...Week of May 1st

Katie:: If you like ballet then you would probably love the Barre style of working the lower body. There are so many work outs to choose from though that it was hard to know where to start. KCM is Kelly Coffey Meyer. Ever heard of her? I have several of her work outs. I like her. :) I do longer work outs on weekends every chance I get too! Basically the same set up as you only I admit that my cardios normally aren't that long. I shoot for 20-30 instead of 30-40 minutes of cardio. Rythmic Step is so much fun! I love that work out! :D

Kiki:: Step can definitely take some practice but once it clicks it's a lot of fun. I have been stepping with Cathe since the tail end of 2004 and I still have trouble at times. Heck, I have owned 4DS since it came out and STILL haven't "gotten" HIS yet! What other step routines have you tried besides Step Blast? There are easier ones to try first...like Basic Step! That's where I started!

Wendy: I do have Basic Step, but I can only do it so many times, lol. I've mostly stuck with that and the lower impact type step from Cathe because those are the ones that she "teaches" a little bit more, and I can actually catch on in time before the next combo, lol. But every once in a while I stick a "real" step workout in there to see how I do, and...yeah :p. I probably could carry on like that forever, lol, if it wasn't for the RT  . I was perfectly happy in my little step-less world, til DH decided to push me outta my comfort zone by insisting we go to Disney.

What kinda husband would do such a thing? :p

Today, I almost did not get a workout in. It is my cardio day so I set the alarm for 5:45 but I just could not get up since I tossed and turned all night with my lovely sinuses>everything is blooming here in CA. Anyway, I was able to sneak home for a few minutes of this busy day and did Athletic Step....took a 1.5 minute shower and was out the door! (of course, I dressed first )

fit mommy: thanks for your POV. I don't know what dvd I am going to get other than Cathe for my next...Tracie long's Weightless looks interesting, maybe Barre, may Amy Bento...???

kikster: I will gladly be your stunt double...don't stunt women get all their expenses paid for their gigs?:p

ricklyk1: glad your case is almost done! :) Enjoy your day off!! Mine is always Sunday.

Good Morning.

This morning's work out was D21(back/bi's) for the 2nd time. Luckily I had no upper body/core DOMS to contend with due to y'day's weighted glove issue. ;) I rocked the double wave loads this time too. TG for having that 2nd crack at each work out! It really helps! :D

KiKi:: I would have loved to plan my Disney trip so that I could be a part of the road trip but it just didn't work out that way. You will have a blast even if you SKIP the step classes! :D

Tracy:: Happy hunting for that perfect new work out!:) I am always so rushed in the mornings before work. Seems no matter what time I get up, I always end up running late.

BBL!

Today was STS 6 Legs. This was a good workout. It was tough, but I loved it. Those one leg sit-n-stands are a joke for me. :( I get about 1-2" off the chair, o well, something to shoot for. I will hopefully do some core tonite, after walking Lucy, my maltese, with DH.

Fit mommy: It doesn't matter what time I get up, it's always a scramble to get out the door! I could get up 3 hrs before or 1 hr and it's the same story!!! I figure a person is either one sort or the other...now, my DH is generally EARLY for everything!!! As a matter of fact, when we are going to someone's house I have to almost beg him,: "Can we pleeeeassse not be the first one there?"

happy Friday everyone!!!

Tracy:: My mom likes to be early every where she goes and my dad (God rest his soul) was always LATE! That's where I get it from. My sister too as a matter of fact. It runs in the family! :p Over the years my mom has learned to meet us half way though. If we are going somewhere with her or going to her house for something she will always ask us to be there earlier then we really need to be figuring we will be atleast 15 mins late! LOL Every once in a while though I surprise her and I am on time or even early! Doesn't happen often though. My DH likes to be on time but if I am with him we are usually late. A little LESS late then I'd be on my own but late none the less! :p I definitely have a problem! ;)

Hey ladies, a quick post, because DH and I have an unexpected kid-less night (DS went home w/a friend after PE class), so we'll be trying to grab a quick date before DS is due back home.

Today was Low Max, I needed that one in order to regain my self-esteem after the whole Step Blast nonsense, lol. I still don't necessarily get all the steps right the first time around, but they're repeated enough times to make me NOT feel like a complete idiot  ;) . I planned on doing my core work tonight while DH worked out, but now that I don't know if he'll get that workout in, idk what I'll do. Maybe I'll just throw in some planks and hanging leg raises from our pull-up bar (put those ab straps that I begged DH for and still have yet to use- 1 yr later- to use :p ).

Tomorrow is my rest day, so I may not check in again til Sunday, if I get a chance.

If, not.....Happy Mothers Day to all the mommies!!! :D

Hi All!

Today was Disc 36!!! Tomorrow, I am planning on Intensity followed by Medicine Ball Abs. Next week, I am taking an active recovery week. Riiiigggghhhht. I'll try to stay away from the cardio DVDs. Maybe it's OK to do what I did last time, but it didn't feel like an "active recovery week."

Tralivan - I like Amy Bento's step workouts. They are a lot of fun. Turbo Fire is also a lot of fun. If you've never heard of it, it's a dancey form of kickboxing. The music is excellent.

FitMommy - Congratulations on having DOMS. I love having them in the sense that it reminded me that I am making positive changes to my body, even though you don't have to have them to make those changes.

Rickly1 - Congratulations on getting through a pretty tough case.

Kikster - Yea! I love that you got an impromptu date! I hope you and DH had a great time.

Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there!

LaDonna

KiKi:: Hope you had a fun date night! ;)

LaDonna:: I am curious about but petrified of Amy Bento's step work outs!

Today is a forced rest day due to a family obligation that will take the entire day. I'll be back tmrw....

Have a great one!:)

hello all. Today I did Step Blast. I forgot what a blast it is! Then core from Muscle Max. Maybe tonite I will do upper body from Muscle Max, but we'll see.
I almost did Ilaria Montagnani Body Strikes today, but didn't. I haven't done it for awhile and it is pretty good. She is very professional and not a real bouncy, "whoopy", perky perky kind of instructor, which I like. She is just pleasant and business. I will probably do this next Tuesday.

JonStephmom: thanks for the advice on Amy Bento. I will probably be getting one of her step dvds pretty soon.

kikster: hope your date was great.

I am starving so I'm off to get bkfst.

Tomorrow is my rest day. so have a great weekend

Happy Mother's Day to all your wonderful moms out there! I hope you are enjoying your special day. You deserve it!!! :)

Kiki: The choreography in Step Blast is tough! I tend to pick up step easily (ducking in case eggs are being thrown my direction), but it took me a few times to learn Cathe's style. If it were at all feasible I would gladly volunteer to be your stunt double at the road trip! :p Hope you had a great date night on Friday and a relaxing rest day on Saturday!

LaDonna: Intensity followed by medicine ball abs?!?! Just thinking about that combo makes me tired. :D :p For some reason Intensity absolutely kills me. By the time I get to the end i'm panting on the floor. Have a fantastic recovery week! Any fun workouts planned?

Wendy: I'm definitely going to look into some barre workouts! Sounds like they are right up my alley. Great job with Disc 21! I'm starting to look forward to Meso 2. Endurance workouts aren't my favorite.

Tracy: I thought Disc 6 was a toughie too!! I had DOMS for a few days. Let us know what you think of Amy Bento, if end up getting one of her workouts of course. :)

As for me, yesterday I did Disc 7 + 4DS HIS (cardio only) + Ab Circuits - Weights/Plates (weights section only). Today was Body Max 2, Scrambed Eggs premix. I swear that premix is harder than the normal workout. Today was my first time doing it on an 8 inch step and it was toughhhhhh. It took me a few months to get up the courage to do BM2 on an 8 inch step and know I remember why. About 2/3 of the way through (right before the 3rd leg segment) I took a 1 1/2 - 2 minute water break. At first I was upset with myself for stopping but I was getting so tired I was tripping over my step. Safety first right? I'm hoping next time I attempt this workout it goes a little better. I have to admit I was really tired going into the workout though, so maybe that contributed to my lack-luster performance. I spent most of the morning cleaning out my flower beds and planting my herb garden, then lunch at the in-laws, then most of the afternoon helping my DH re-screen our back porch. I think i'm going to bed now...at 7:00 pm.:eek:

Good Evening Ladies.

Quick check in to say that today I did D19, hi intensity drills from kpc and the waist work minus the kicks from Squeeze Stronger. I wanted a longer cardio-what I did was only 15 mins-but I ran out of time.

My Mother's Day was non-existant. I got up at 7am, had my coffee, got dressed, went food shopping, came home, unpacked groceries, exercised, showered and left my house at 2 to go up to my SIL's to celebrate my FIL's Birthday. Got home at 7 tonight and did laundry and cleaned the house for an hour or more before even sitting down at all tonight Y'day I was gone all day long from 8am to 9pm for my neice's Communion in upstate NY. I had no Mother's Day but I also had no weekend and I'm pretty darned cranky right now b/c of it. :(

Ah well. Nothin' I can do about it now. Off to bed. I'll feel better in the morning. Thanks for listening! :)

kikster: what can I say? I am an ornery girl!:p Also, I may be harboring a bit of bitterness about not being hired to be your step stunt-double for the Cathe RT!:D

ricklyk1: I tried Step Blast on Saturday with an 8" step ...that lasted about 15 minutes before I changed it to 6"....not ready for that!

fit mommy: when I have so much stuff to do, I get so overwhelmed and very cranky too. You can vent anytime you want. Sometimes it just helps. A good night's sleep and a new morning always does help...you're right. I hope your day tomorrow is better and that next weekend you can have some time just to lay around.

No workout today...I am supposedly having a rest day...but Sundays are regularly very busy!!

Awww Wendy i'm sorry to hear you had a less than stellar Mother's Day and weekend. I hate when weekends aren't on my terms. I second Tracy - feel free to vent anytime! That's what we're here for! :) ((((HUGS))))

Tracy: Step Blast on an 8 inch step?!?! Yowza! I'm very impressed you lasted 15 minutes. I think I would make it about 3. :)

Well, no workout for me this morning. I'm highly annoyed too. For some reason I just CAN'T seem to fall asleep at a decent time on Sundays night. Despite my exhaustion yesterday I still didn't fall asleep until almost midnight. I typically get up a little after 5 am to workout and I can't function on five hours of sleep. I just don't know what to do...I don't drink caffeine or eat sugar anytime in the evening and i've taken melatonin and even cold medicine to try and sleep but nothing is working. I only seem to have this problem on Sunday nights. GRRRRRRRRRRRR. Any suggestions and/or thoughts?

Morning.

Well this morning finds me in better spirits despite the fact that it's Monday *groan*.

I did Rythmic Step in full this morning followed by a sweaty gut wrenching 2 1/2 minute prone elbow plank. It nearly killed me!

I am sore from my neck to my wait. OUCH! Everything hurts!:eek::eek:

Thanks Tracy and Katie for understanding my gripe last night. Didn't want to come off as sounding like selfish baby who didn't get her way but it was Mother's Day for goodness sake and I got NO TIME for myself. That's what really got me.

Today's a new day though and I'm :)!
