STS NEW YEAR'S CHALLENGERS...WEEK OF MAY 15!

Fit_mommy

Cathlete
Good Morning and Happy Monday!!!...Well okay, maybe not! :p

Just wanted to get us started. I'll be back later....:)

Good Morning Everyone! Thanks for all the well wishes for my knee! I *think* it's better today. I took it really easy over the weekend, applying ice and heat, and keeping it elevated often. Foam rollin and stretching in between ;) . Yesterday, DH and DS wanted to go on a family bike ride, so we had a nice long ride, which was fun, easy on the knee, and I actually broke a sweat :D . So it helped me to not feel as bummed yesterday, although it wasn't my planned w/o (I get a little crazy when I go off the plan :p ), it was a decent workout, and good old fashioned family fun to boot, can't complain.

I want to attempt yesterday's plan today (Circuit Blast), I just don't know if I'm ready  . Today's w/o is actually supposed to be LIS, which may actually be more appropriate, so idk yet.

Tracy: I've contemplated a hysterectomy SO many times as well, but have yet to go through w/it. I have endometriosis, so that TOM is HORRIFIC pain for me. I've had many procedures done, but to no avail. I was considering it again just a couple months ago, when my cousin (who has the same issues) was having it done. She ended up going through SO many complications :( (she's STILL not back to work, 2 months later), that I don't think I'll be considering again for some time (even though I'm feeling the warning signs that my TOM is approaching probably this week.)

I'm back.

I have no idea when I last posted and I am too darned lazy to look right now :p so I'm just gonna start with Saturday's w/o and apologize if I am repeating myself. LOL

Sat:: KCM TLC Coffey Blend Premix (47 Mins) + abs from KCM Circuit Burn
Sun:: KCM Get Ready Step Go (only 20 mins)/cardio drills at beginning of Tonique Cardio Mat (10 mins?)
Today: KCM Cardio Blast Plyometrics (30 mins) + SJP Abs

Today was supposed to be an STS w/o but I overslept b/c my alarm clock didn't go off so I didn't have time for it. GRRR.

TLC gave me such crazy intense DOMSin my core! OMG! I am still feeling it! Needless to say I LOVE this work out! ;)

Kiki:: Glad your knee is on the mend! :)

Yay it's Monday (note sarcasm).

Yesterday I did Imax 3 and B&G Stability Ball Abs. Except for re-doing a step segment I screwed I didn't have to pause or add extra breaks during Imax 3. I have to admit I was a tinsy-bit proud of myself as I tend to struggle with that workout. This morning was Disc 11. One more and then i'm into recovery week no. 1.

Wendy: I hate when I oversleep. Soooo frustrating!

Kiki: Glad to hear your knee is doing better. Woot woot!

Waves to Tracy, Autumn, and LaDonna!

Sorry for the short post. Busy busy day at work. Good news is tomorrow is my birthday and i'm taking the day off! :D

Nice w/o's over the weekend Wendy & Katie! I hoped to burn calories vicariously through y'all, so thanks for not letting me down :p ;)

I went ahead and did Circuit Blast, modifying when necessary, although it wasn't as often as I thought. I also threw in a few sets (5-6 sets, I think) of pull-ups (to make sure my back didn't get jealous from the push-ups :D ) at the end of the workout, just before the stretch

Eta: Happy birthday Katie!

Um, my dear Kiki, I haven't done Circuit Blast in a while but if my memory serves me correctly there is no ab work in this one and you did not mention adding any on to it! :eek:What do you have to say for yourself young lady!? ;):D:p

   uh oh!! Lol, ummm (stuttering in the presence of the Nazi) Oh yea haven't done abs since like, Thursday! :p Guess I can't blame that on the knee, huh?!

I should probably get on that :D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE!!!!

This weekend on Saturday I did KPC at my dad's. Whoa, it is a lot different working out at 4000 feet. I was gasping for air more than usual. And of course, I ate too much there too.

Anyway, today I did STS 10 and ran a couple of miles on the treadmill. I really enjoyed the running. I think I will do it more often. I simply cannot run on the street anymore though. I hurts too much.

I got my new pre order disks that I ordered (Hiit, CCC and ab circuits) so I am excited about cracking those open.

kiki I am glad you are doing better.

Hello fit mommy and autumn and jonstephmom

Good Morning.

Well I almost blew it again this morning and missed my STS work out! My alarms went off but some how I STILL managed to sleep almost 30 minutes later! I never got up, put on my work out clothes and had coffee so fast! :p Soooo happy I got it done though! Great work out too.:D

It was Disc 23/legs. I think it's my fave M2 leg work out! I used my new lifting hooks (this could be why this w/o is my fave actually!LOL). They worked but will take some getting used to-a little awkward at first and a tight fit on my Bowflex ST's. Also left scratches and irritation on my wrists and arms so I think I am going to cut a sweat sock and put it on my wrists and part of my forearms as protection next time. Overall though, great work out. I felt strong!;)

Tracy:: I used to run. Gave it up 2 years ago when I lost my gym membership and opted not to get another one due to my work situation changing. Some day I will move into a house big enough to put a TM in my home and I will take it back up again. Loved it but not willing to run in NJ weather 12 months a year w/no indoor option.

Kiki:: Did you work abs today?? :)

Katie:: The Birthday girl! Hope you enjoy your day off!!!

BBL~

Today was LIS &abs from the TBS w/o on the same disc. I was SO gonna skip abs today, since I woke up this AM w/ crazy cramps (TOM :( ) , & typically I don't even consider doing ab work during that time. But, after the w/o, I actually felt ok enough to do it, plus that one is not really intense, but I figured under the circumstances something was better than nothing (& ANYTHING is better than havin to report back to Wendy that I skipped abs...AGAIN  :p )

Tracy: I'm sure you'll love your new w/o's! Those are some goodies :) . Glad you enjoyed your time at your dads and still got a good w/o in ;) . Are ya missin your Hubby yet? :(

Wendy: slept in again?! I know it's gotta be so hard to get up so early and w/o. If I can even START my w/o before 9:30-10 am, I'm ecstatic

Kiki:: I'll bet the endorphin rush from the work out made you feel good enough to work your abs today despite TTOM. Good for you...or perhaps LUCKY for you is a better choice of words?? Bwahahahah! ;):p:D I will let myself go on weekends and not work out til later in the morning and sometimes afternoon or even early evening even. I know though that the earlier I get it done, the better off I am so I am trying hard to atleast make sure my work out gets done before noon. The absolute hardest for me is working out when I go away on vacation or my weekends at the casinos. I schedule is all messed up and it's a cr@p shoot as to when I will exercise. Sometimes I get 30 mins in just under the wire right before I need to get showered and dressed for dinner!

Hi ladies!! I've bee sick since last Friday... well, I was sniffling and sneezing Thursday... but my cold was in full swing by Friday. I did TurborJam Thursday and then nothing until y'day when I repeated TJ and added Ballet Beautiful Swan arms. I'm not 100% but I'm on the mend. Today, I'll either walk outside to enjoy the beautiful weather or TJ and add Ballet Beautiful Butt series part 1.

Katie ~ HaPpY BiRtHdAy!!!!!!! I am seriously considering the shots and a relocation from MO. :D I felt so much better in CO. My DH has done really well on them. He had sinus surgery in '05... or as I call it roto rooter ;) b/c he was in bad shape. The ENT said he'd never seen such a mess. Anyway, he's been on the shots to prevent further problems and has done well. The ENT calls him a textbook case. I think he's had one sinus infection since then. His immunotherapy hasn't ended, but we hope these are his last vials. I give him his shots. :D My allergist said it would just be 4 years for me.

Kiki ~ Yeah, when I say anything about being shy to my friends they give me the strangest look... so then I remind them of how I was when they first met me, lol. I must talk a lot to make up for the 1st impression. ;) I'm gald your knee is better!! I am glad you've become friends with the foam roller. I have an on again, off again relationship with mine. ;) I'm sorry you have endometriosis. I've had 2 surgeries for it. The last surgery was out of desperation. I can no longer take NSAIDs for pain b/c of my angioedema (I have a pseudo-allergy **shrug**). Anywho, my options for pain relief a) narcotics or b) laser ablation of the endo. So, I went with the laser ablation. I'm not sure if it helped b/c I was pregnant 2 months after & am nursing so no TOM yet. On a side note, my DS decided for sure he wants to be a doctor after watching my surgery. DS, who was 5 at the time, was disappointed he couldn't watch my surgery IRL . I told my OB/Gyn this, and he thought it was great so he recorded it and gave me (I guess technicallly he gave DS) a copy. DS watched it over and over... thought it was GREAT especially when my hot appendix (no, had no clue I had appendicitis) was removed and the surgeon stuck his finger in my abdomen to keep me from deflating, lol. Anyway, if nothing else, my surgery solidified DS's career plans... for now ;) but I kinda want him to change his mind. Anyhoo, I'd be hesitent to have a hysterectomy too, but endo is not fun.

Tracy ~ So what new DVD you going to try???? :)

Wendy ~ How's WW going? I've not lost... gained last weigh in and missed this week's weigh in due to me being contagious... per my scale I'm holding steady. I'm not going to reach my goal by my Disney RT. :(

Autumn:: Hope you are at 100% soon! I hate being sick! It's such a bummer! I was getting sick as I was going away to NYC at the end of last month but I nipped it in the butt by eating vit c like candy! LOL Well not literally but I doubled my intake and brought it with me to NYC and whatever was wanting to grab a hold of me never amounted to anything! YAY! I swear by vit c and by airborne. The stuff works! :D I didn't see a loss or a gain last weigh in (Fri) so I am holding steady at a 4.2# loss in a 4 week period. I won't complain! ;) Hoping for a loss this week though! I have 2# til I get to goal and would love to be there by Memorial Day weekend! BTW-you can't expect any HEALTHY weight loss while you are sick. You need to concentrate on getting well instead. Once you are back to your ol' self you will see the weight start to come off again! :)

I was checking the forum on my phone right before I left work yesterday and I absolutely cracked up at the above exchange. At that exact moment, the judge walked into my office and looked at me like I was nuts (which honestly happens more often than you'd expect). :p

Thanks sooooo much everyone for the bday wishes!! I'm enjoying a very low key day at the house - finished a new book, watched the special features on the new Harry Potter movie DVD, voted (it's primary election day in KY), made a FABULOUS lunch, and am now watching Sex and the City while I play on the forums. My sister and I might go see a movie this evening and then she is making me dinner tonight. My DH won't be home until almost 9:00 pm tonight, which stinks, but he texted me a few minutes ago to let me know he is bringing me a sinfully delicious chocolate cupcake with cream cheese icing from my favorite bakery. :p All in all not a bad day!

Wendy: Silly question...but what are lifting hooks?? Way to bang out Disc 23! I love those days when you feel fantastic, strong, and powerful! :) I noticed you mentioned you live in NJ. Have you ever been to Cathe's gym? My DH and I are considering a NYC/New England trip in the next year or two. I figured if I was in the area i'd have to try to go to one of Cathe's classes!

Kiki: How is your knee feeling? Still causing any problems? Great job working those abs (and keeping your skin - haha) :p  Sorry to hear about your stomach cramps/TOM. Yucko!

Tracy: Welcome back! I'm glad to hear you had a great time at your dad's house. Great job fitting in your workouts. I always struggle to workout when i'm away/out of my normal routine. Have you tried out any of your new DVDs yet?!?! You've got some good ones there. Ab Circuits rocks - I love the yoga-based and pilates-based because they are slower and more controlled than some of Cathe's other abs routines.

Autumn: Feel better soon!!! Roto rooter - hahaha! What a great description! So, it sounds like i'm like you and Kiki - very quiet when I first meet new people but then, once I mellow out, I talk non-stop. If we all end up meeting one day at a road trip or something I hope Wendy or Tracy are talkers. Otherwise we'd all stand around to shy to talk! :p

LaDonna: Come back soon!

Well, I suffered through Intensity + Ab Circuits: Yoga-Based Abs this morning. I have a love-hate relationship with Itensity. For me, it's a toss up between Itensity and CC as Cathe's hardest Cardio workouts. BUT, it's done and i'm happy! :)

ETA: As I'm sure i've mentioned, my DH has started lifting again. So far, it has been rather sporadic because of his busy schedule, but he is starting to get into a semi-sorta routine. Anyway, on the way home yesterday, he started asking me if I wanted him to "pump me up" so that I could start entering fitness competitions (which is a completely ridiculous idea because i'm no where near in that good of shape). He then proceeds to start trying to pick out my competition name. After several suggestions, he decided my name should be "Judgment Day" - ya know, because of the whole law thing. i'm thinking about changing my forum name. :)

Katie...

This are lifting hooks-what I bought: Amazon.com: Altus Athletic Power Lifting Hooks: Sports & Outdoors

They also have lifting straps: Amazon.com: Altus Athletic Padded Lifting Straps: Sports & Outdoors

They help to support a heavy weight in your hands when you are doing things like squats, lunges, deadlifts, etc. I am lifting pretty heavy in M2 and my hands are KILLING me from gripping the heavier weights so this takes some of the owness off of my hands as it supports the weight. I am going to pop for the straps too since they are cheap to see which ones I prefer-hooks vs straps. :)

HTH!

BBIAB with more!

Autumn: understand the sinus situation. I have a deviated septum which sometimes can exacerbate them. I have a Neil-Med Sinus thing...it's like a neti-pot, but I prefer it to a neti. When I feel allergies coming on I use it and have been able to avoid infection. (now watch, I'll get an infection next wk) but glad you are feeling better.

ricklyk1 (aka Judgment day): HB again. Nothing like a chocolate cupcake for your birthday. who am I kidding, nothing like chocolate all the time, any time!!! Aren't sisters the best. I love my sisters. I always get some of the hardest and best laughs with them, (that is when they aren't fighting with each other.---I stay out of it...I won't argue with them. PERIOD> and they know it.)

fit mommy: I love keeping my schedule on schedule for my workouts. Going away always messes it up. However, I am like the kikster as to time...I generally like to workout from about 8:30 to 10:30. I just was looking today at my last week of STS in July which is going to be interrupted by a vacation:confused::mad::p Now what??? My world is rocked. My house isn't big enough for our TM either. That is why my whole workout world is taking up half the garage!!! I love it out there though!!

Ok...but here is one little tidbit about that vacation...we are going with friends whom I love, BTW, but there is one gal going who is always talking about and showing her guns. So (this is my littleness of character showing through which I will share with you all and humble myself) I am looking forward to maybe have some pretty good ones of my own by that time...and not say a word...but let the actions of my rippling bi's, tri's and delts do their own talking.... Do yah hear me strummin??? And then maybe she will be silenced and I won't be subjected to that!!! Generally i just smile and nod...and say "great"

Today I did CCC. That was tough...but I was also tired...I am not sleeping great at all since DH gone....yes kiki I miss him and I've got more than a week yet. That's it, he CANNOT do this again.

One thing about CCC ==I kind of expected more direct core work...but mostly even the core work was cardio...I think anyway. I will probably do a core from AB Circuits tonite.

Wendy ~ I'm hoping this thingy goes away soon. All 3 kids got it too.

Katie ~ (maybe JD for short now ;)) LOL, either we'd be the most quiet group or the loudest... funny how those things go.

Tracy ~ Mmmmm... chocolate. I can't tell you how many Facebook status updates I've had about chocolate, lol. ;) I think I need some chocolate therapy come to think of it. :p I'll have to look into the Neil-Med Sinus thing. My DH had a deviated septum too... the ENT corrected that when he did the sinus surgery. He is much better with all the corrections but not completely symptom free... gosh that would be great!!!! I know a few people without allergies and am truly envious. Hoping you stay sinus infection free!!

Off to rescue the baby... ;)

Autumn:: I love chocolate too. Had a serious dark chocolate habit prior to Lent. I gave it up at that point and never looked back. I now have it rarely and I'm okay with that. :) Feeling better today?

Tracy:: I made sure my STS rotation would not be interrupted by my vacation. I am not going away until the end of August so I'm good! :) I've worked out at all different times of the day from 5am to 8pm. It just changes as my lifestyle changes. What's important is that you get it done. Who cares what time you do it!

Katie:: Sounds like you had a nice B'day. Good for you!:) Yup I went on the 2008 Cathe Road Trip! It was exhausting but fun. Her gym in ginormous!!! So funny about your husband thinking up stage names for you. I never realized fitness competitors did that!? And as far as you being no where near a competition figure-most are not when they start preparing/training for it. That's why they hire trainers/nutritionists to get them in the shape that is required to compete. I could do the work outs but I don't think I could hack the strict dietary requirements to get that lean.

No work out for me to report this morning. Rest day...FINALLY! I have some nice L/B DOMS to report though! ;)

BBL~

Posting from my phone, so there's no way I can remember everything for personals, lol. We're having some remodeling done in my computer zone, and this my "laptop", so....

I didn't get a workout in before all the guys showed up, so I hope to get in in tonight before DH needs the space, for his w/o. Crazy, I STILL have back DOMS from all those pull ups I did on Mon! (what was I thinking ?! - 5 sets  - crazy woman  )
