STS January Check In - Welcome All!

Today's workout was X10, X54 mix, step, low impact and fat burning circuit. 54 minutes, 450 calories. I then did Pedal Power songs 2,3,4,5,12,13, 27 minutes, 257 calories. I followed with Body Beast Abs, 11 minutes, 56 calories and ended with Shiva Rea,Power Yoga Flow water core and creative roots, 23 minutes, 91 calories. Total time was 1 hr 55 minutes and calories burned 854.

Justine, I think my husband has someone he knows to work on the computer. Right now I am backing up my secondary laptop so I don't lose any more stuff.

Hope the computer's fixed, Diane!

Today I did X77. I wasn't impressive, but I did it. 850 calories burned :D add that to the dog walk, and I was over 1200 cals! Interstingly, my heart rate never got super-high, just high for the entire workout. I find it fascinating watching my HRM. Perceived exertion doesn't really relate to my HR.

I was going to start doubles today......but perhaps not after this morning's Herculean effort!
Tomorrow ????

xx

This morning I did STS disc 28 chest and back, 67 minutes 405 calories. I then did Rapid Fire Kickbox and core burn cor ball and floor core/abs, 16 minutes, 103 calories. I finished with STS extended stretch. Time was 99 minutes and calories burned 542. It is nice outside today. In the 70's :D Weird since a couple of days ago it was snowing. I am going to try to get some things done outside today.

Justine, heartrate monitors are interesting. I find it interesting that at times when I feel I have not worked all out effort that I burn a lot more calories. That was a great calorie burn. I really don't think a double is necessary today ;)

HI ladies. I'm back in the zone this week. Seems the sickness took a week from me, then last week it took me awhile to ramp it back up.

Catch up:

Sat: Meso 2, Week 3 Legs (Disc 2x>>) - got 2/3 done at home, then had to get my son to his training .. so I grabbed my clipboard and gloves and finished there. Of course, I had extra time so I added extra stuff (3 sets of deadlifts, 3 sets of wall balls, suspension modified pull ups, cardio blasts, abs, rope waves, etc.)

Sun: Couldn't walk :) Rest, shopping, and a pedicure with my daughter.

Mon: Meso 2, Week 3, Back and Biceps - good workout.
Mon PM: lunch run - 4 miles in 55 mins (15 min of warmup/cool down, and 40 mins of running 3.1 miles.)

Tues: IMAX 3, segments 1-9 (out of time!) My left arch was aching today, so took it a bit easy on the impact jumping work. HR still got up there - but I know I could have upped the intensity if necessary.

Tomorrow will be Meso 2, week 4 Chest, Shoulders and Triceps!

I didn't make either of my dietbet goals this month. But I'm determined to buckle down this month and reign in my eating, double cardio on lifting days if I can .. and get back on track! Have a family wedding on April 5, so I'd like to get something new to wear and feel good about it for that.

Today I started with Calorie Blast yoga Ready to Sweat segment 20 minutes, then Tread Climber 40 minutes, 450 calories. I then did Calorie Blast Yoga 27 minutes, strong body, strong mind and core power abs, 92 calories. I finished with Cathe's Ab Circuits yoga based abs, 15 minutes, 52 calories. Total time was 97 minutes and calories burned 644.

Good evening ladies!

I'm on the road for work again for a few days, but I'm feeling better as well and back in the swing of things. With being sick most of last week, then away part of this week, it will be almost 2 full weeks away from STS. I may end up repeating the upper body workouts from week 4 of M2 when I get home to get back to heavier weights.

Saturday I did Ride and Chris Freytag's Extreme Yoga (I don't think it's all that exteme, but it's the name of that series).

Sunday we went for a walk through my parents woods and helped my brother and dad log some dead trees. I got a little upper body workout in there while stacking logs.

Yesterday I did High Reps and today I did UY Detox Yoga. I didn't sleep all that well last night in my hotel bed, then sat all day. Detox was the perfect end to my day!

It was almost 65 degrees in Western PA today and tomorrow we may get snow...UGH!

Take care,
Lisa

Hi everyone!

Good to hear from Lisa and Crazysoccermom and that you're both feeling better.

Lisa - stacking logs - great core as well as upper body ;) The funniest thing is that my workout room looks out onto our log store, so when Cathe says to do the woodchop, it's a bit weird that I can look out of the window and see the axe and block!! I always think I should be doing it for real. Weird weather, heh? It's about 14C here (60F ?) but drops to freezing overnight. All the spring bulbs and blossom are flowering.

Crazysoccermom- sorry you didn't make your weight goal, but your workouts sound good. The wedding is good for motivation! I've one the week after yours, and I'm determined to look my best. Funny you should mention your arch - mine has been a bit sore, and I was wondering whether step provokes it?

Diane - of all Cathe's abs work the yoga one suits me best - great workout.

I did Body Blast Legs and Glutes yesterday (great inner thigh w/o) and Gym Styles= Chest and Triceps today. I'm not very strong at the moment. Strength seems to be going backwards, and I'm losing weight. I need to up my food intake, I think. If the weight would disappear only from my thighs and bum......

Oh well!

xx

Today was STS disc 38 squat rack legs, 62 minutes, 354 calories. I then did Party Rockin Step timesaver mixed 1&2 premix, 34 minutes, 251 calories. This was a bit longer than the time specified because it froze on me and I tried again then cleaned the disc.

Lisa, I am glad that you are feeling better. Hotels are not such wonderful places to get rest. For some reason you hear people in the hall at all hours The bed does not feel like home. I never thought about logging trees. My daughter and her husband bought 15 acres and I have learned a lot about taking care of land. The pond, snakes, scorpions, oows, chickens, gardening, mean vines and clearing and fencing. Sheesh who would think there was so much work.

Justine, I remember all of the daffodils, tulips, and poppies. Beautiful flowers. I can't get Hiacynths to not freeze here. Finally found I could get them to bloom in water inside. I sure wish that I could choose where the weight goes and comes from. You probably do need to increase calories. I find for me that too much cardio drags down my results. I use up too much muscle. It has taken me years to figure that out because I have always worked cardio and legs for long periods of time.

It certainly is good motivation. Especially since I have nothing to wear, as I've shrunk out of all my nice clothes. So shopping **IS** required, so I can certainly get something cute. It's an outdoor wedding in a warm area of town.

My arch gets tweaked every once in awhile. I am not sure exactly what it is. I thought it was old shoes before, but I ran on my new ones .. which I've done before with no issues. ???

Wed and Thurs

Too busy at work to log in yesterday. I thought I would be able to get in a lunchtime workout, but data kept me chained to my desk.

Wed AM: STS Disc 22: Chest/Back/Triceps. Holy Drop Sets! Those killed me. My 1RM is off, because there was no way I was going to be able to bench the 34 pounds it told me to grab. I couldn't finish a set with 30's!

Thurs AM: Did HiiT Double Wave Pyramid for the first time. Liked it. Did first wave fine, took an extra break during the second wave. Extra long cool down :)

Have a crown replacement appt with my dentist this afternoon. Not looking forward to that, but needs to get done. :(

Crazysoccermom - the kind of shopping I enjoy - special clothes for a special occasion (I HATE shopping for every day stuff). When are you going to go? Its not that far off. I'm wearing a sleeveless dress, so I'll have to keep up the band work on my shoulders!
I like the Pyramid Hiit too. My favourite is 40/20 though.

Diane - yes, Spring is when the UK is at its best. Winter= wet and cold and damp, Summer= wet and cold and damp!! and Autumn is lovely, but no where near as beautiful as you get in parts of the States. Spring makes me so happy.

I'm trying to do less cardio. The trouble is - I love it. I'm sticking to the January rotation exactly, and not doing more (I often do the longer pre-mixes on a rotation). It doesn't suit my face if I lean out too much - but then my lower half looks better very lean!

Today was SuperCuts, which I loved. I'd been out last night and had a late one, so pleased myself by getting through the workout relatively easily ( apart from those blasted sit-up push-ups at the end).

xx

This morning I started with X train all out low impact hiit Extreme mix, 54 minutes, 386 calories. I then did songs 6,7,8 of Pedal power. I like those up and down standing moves and the tabatas :), 14 minutes 137 calories. I followed with X train core 1 , 10 minutes, 50 calories and ended with budokon Strength and Balance, 32 minutes, 178 calories. I skipped the meditations and spinal warm up. I think this is my favorite of these workouts. Total time was 1 hr 50 minutes and calories burned 751. I did my weigh in today and was up in weight by 2 lbs and down 1% bodyfat so I was y happy with that. Since we have put the house up for sale I leave my scale in the closet.

Crazy Soccer Mom, good job on the loss of inches and getting new clothes:) You have got in some really good workouts. Those crowns take so much time in the dental chair!! As for arches, I used to have a really hard time with mine hurting and had plantar fasciitis. I went online and ordered Footminder inserts for my shoes. I have been buying them for several years now and they made a huge difference. No more arch problems or fasciitis. They felt odd at first because the arch support is really there.

I did Gym Style Back Shoulders and Biceps today - I had my strength back!!! So much so that I'm going to do GS Chest later (that was where I flunked out last week - and I'm seriously trying to bulk my chest and lats).

Hope all's wellxx

Morning all. Two hours in the dental chair yesterday. My jaw is sore from forcing it open for that long. Back in two weeks for the perm crown.

I switched up the Back and Legs workouts this week. I want to be done on Sunday to go a cardio day, plus start the rest and recovery week on time. So I had to modify the Back workout to remove the Deadlifts, since they are also in the Leg workout that I'll do tomorrow. Then instead I subbed in a rear back/delt fly. STS Disc 24 today, Back and Biceps. Plus added on 5 sets of 30 jumping jacks at the end to get a little cardio blast.

I plan on running at lunch .. and work shouldn't get in the way to that plan today!

I did STS disc 30 biceps and triceps, 61 minutes, 312 calories. I then did Jillian's yoga inferno workout 2, 34 minutes,174 calories and followed with the Art of flow yoga with Zuzana, 49 minutes, 117 calories. Total calories 603 but I spent a long time on this. I think I caught my husbands virus with the scratchy throat achy thing going on. I wanted to do some cardio but just wasn't feeling it. I was able to increase my weights today by at least a lb each exercise though.

Crazy Soccer Mom, I hear you on the jaws and holding the mouth open. I generally get a headache along with all of that. At least the return visit isn't as long.
Good job working on getting everything in. I may need to work something out next week as family will be visiting during spring break and we have a baby shower next Saturday for my daughter.

. I did my weigh in today and was up in weight by 2 lbs and down 1% bodyfat so I was y happy with that. Since we have put the house up for sale I leave my scale in the closet.
.

I meant to say how amazing that result was - serious muscle.

Hello all!

I didn't have the opportunity to workout Thursday and Friday. I tried to make up for it today by doing Pedal Power Extreme and STS Yoga Abs. It was a great workout, but now I feel like taking a nap. I may just do that, then work on a quilting challenge project I need to have done by April 1.

Enjoy your weekend!

Lisa

Feeling somewhat better today. I did Rock Out Knock out timesaver 2, boxing and heavy bag mix, 37 minutes, 228 calories. I then did the core/ab work from all 3 of Cathe's MMA workouts, 27 minutes, 115 calories. I followed with 30 minutes on the Tread Climber, 324 calories and finished with Z Cut Power Yoga, balance and plyo and cooldown, 12 minutes, 50 calories. Total hr 47 minutes. 717 calories.

Justine, thanks :) I wanted to add some body weight but did not want it to be fat. I was pleased. Are you enjoying Gym Styles? I am looking forward to doing them for a bit. I have not used them in a very long time. I like some of the premixes on them. Particularly the upper body superset timesaver.

Lisa, that would be an intense workout. A lot of the time when I have so much energy for a super hard effort I am ready for a nap in the afternoon. I guess I use my energy all up :)

Diane - I have the hardest time gaining muscle without fat - I find I have to bulk then cut, hoping that each cycle leaves me with more muscle. It's a slow process, though. I'm cutting at the moment (I try to bulk over Winter). I think that's why I lost strength in the last couple of weeks - I cut too quickly. I try to only ever gain about 6-8lb, otherwise I'd panic :( Do you have an amazing trick??? Please share ;)

Lisa - I don't have a spin bike, but I'd love one. Pedal Power extreme just sounds exhausting!

It was Flextrain yesterday for me, and I was pleased with how my shoulders coped. Today I walked 10 miles, and have just finished Muscle Max (not on my rotation, but just felt like doing some lifting). I also gardened all afternoon, so I should sleep well tonight!

Hope you all had a great weekend
xx

Justine, generally I have always went to pretty much just lean protein and green veggies when cutting and added in extra cardio. In the last year and a half I tried a few months of pretty much vegan and that was not working for me at all. It seemed my muscle was not as good. Then I had just really started into a Paleo type of eating but keeping it pretty lean other than a few Paleo desserts. That has worked well for me even with the knee problem and lack of much heavy training for a few months. I have been surprised how well it worked. I tore my meniscus August 5. I tried to take care of it with omitting impact and much in the way of lower weight work. It took a couple of months of getting insurance approval for the x rays and mri. Then finally the surgery. It has been 15 weeks since surgery and I am doing well with the weight training and still being careful. I really did work the upper body though while trying to heal. Twice a week. Generally heavy once then a lighter upper body later in the week. I don't know that there is a big secret to it. I don't use protein powders very often anymore. Just clean proteins and veggies. I eat a very small amount of fruit. I am not fond of most fruit anyway.
