STS first time!

Did disc 3 legs today. :)

Carolyn - glad your daughter is better.

As a runner, I didn't like running in high winds but I'd take that any day over hot and humid.

Now I can't run anymore because of bad knees but I make up for it with biking and lots of hiking. Sometimes I'll do a cardio tape but I'm really leery of getting hurt doing tapes so I don't do them often. Not that I ever have gotten any of the steps down for Cathe tapes. I seem to have too many feet when I try to do step tapes.

I'm back!

It was so stressful! Driving to Appleton, I didn't realize that there was construction at OshKosh that wouldn't allow me to get on the highway I needed to get to Appleton and there were no detour signs that showed me how to get to it. It was awful. I wound up driving around OshKosh which has decided to put in tons and tons of those stupid round-abouts all over the city. Not only were they roundabouts but they were double laned ones. I'd never driven through one before! There were lanes and arrows and yield signs and cars all over the frickin place! I was less stressed when I drove into downtown Chicago a few years back for crying out loud!:confused: After about an hour of the worst experience ever and after asking two different people how to get to the damn highway I finally got back on track! Then I get there and I can't get everybody's posts to my phone like usual (withdrawal!) and I was hit with major insomnia (only got about 3 hours of sleep last night). The food was bad, the corporate speeches excruciating and I missed Mark and the kids. It just plain sucked all around.:( Thank God I am home!!

No workouts for me this weekend and probably not tomorrow so don't feel bad Carolyn and Marie! You're not alone!

Carolyn- I would love to go on a road trip someday! I'm super nervous about the thought, though! I'd have to wear shoes and trip all over myself because I'm not used to working out in them! I don't have Power Hour so I can't give any advice on that although I think it's popular on VF. For some reason, the VF site is mostly people who used to do a lot of Cathe and tend to prefer her older stuff. Not a lot of newbies on there so I feel lonely sometimes. I even posted on it recently asking if there was anyone else like me who actually preferred her newer workouts to her older ones. There were only a few people who said yes!

Have fun in Mexico Mary! Betty I can't believe you get to go to Italy you lucky dog! We're going to miss your posts if you're gone for two whole weeks though!

Okay, gotta get some dinner here. Talk more later!!

Good Morning ladies! I have been MIA this past weekend. We went hiking and fishing, and then I had barn and yard chores. I was so busy, last night I feel asleep just a few minutes after 8:00 on the couch. My husband woke me up to go to bed after 9:00.

So, this morning I got up to do my cardio. I have been talking with my husband about how much I exercise and the scale is being mean but not moving down. Crazy!!!!!

I think I need to start STS over and just complete all 3 meso's. I think I need more muscle so I can burn more calories throughout the day. What is your thoughts? I stoped STS last month because I missed the LIS workouts. But, I was adding them on the off days. I think I was having a blounde moment!!!!

As for a Road Trip.... I was hoping Cathe was coming south this year but she isn't. Last year she went to Disney. That would have been awesome. Looking forward to going on a Road Trip someday!!!! :p

Okay...Gotta Go. I am at work again. But, good news.....I have friday off this week. So I will have a long weekend! I also have a 5K this Saturday morning!!!! Yeah!!!! :D

BBL!!!!

Jean---Thanks for the encouraging words. I am sorry to hear your shoulder hurts. Be careful with it and let it rest. What rotation are you going to do now? I think I may start STS over...... want to join me?

I really appeciate the kind words today. I was kinda bummed out..... I haven't lost any weight in a few weeks. Just maintaining. I am thankful that I havent gained. I also think one of the problems is the scale. I have a scale addiction. I think I have to weigh myself daily. Sometimes twice a day. I have always done this.

I think I am starting STS tonight. Wish me luck with all those push ups!!!!

Hi girls!
Missy- I think doing STS would be a good idea since often the secret to breaking through a plateau is doing something totally different. Concentrating on heavy lifting over cardio might be just the ticket. I would be patient with it though and don't get frustrated if the scale goes up a pound or two from water retention. A lot of ladies freak out when that happens but it's normal for the muscle tissue to retain extra water when you first start weight lifting and is just temporary and necessary really. Drink lots of water, watch the sodium and concentrate on extra protein to help counteract that.

I've been the same weight for quite awhile now but I know if I concentrated more on diet I could probably lose a few pounds. Honestly I'm fairly content where I am. I'm at a healthy weight, BMI and body fat% for my height so I don't necessarily want to give up my wine and worry about eating perfectly all the time! ;) I just do my best on most days and let the rest be! As long as I can stay where I am that's all I worry about...of course if I lost a few pounds I sure wouldn't be sad about it!:p

That's such a bummer LIS didn't work out for you Jean! Do you still think you'll keep AT? I wonder if it was all the plank work that bothered your shoulder. Some of that stuff in AB is pretty intense with that!

Missy a Cathe RT in Disney would be so much fun! I could actually get Mark to go too since we could take the kids to Disney and the beach as well! Two birds with one stone!:D

Carolyn I heard about that hot weather you guys are getting...and the Boston marathon too! It's going to be so miserable for those people! I hope everyone stays safe and hydrated.

I can't wait to workout tomorrow! I couldn't fit it in today because I needed the sleep and I had to get to work earlier than usual. This is going to be my STS week so I'll be doing Meso 2 disc 16 tomorrow. I love alternating weeks like this! I'm excited to get back to the Meso 1 workouts. It seems like it's been so long since I did them! Oh, and I had the itch to get something and since the Turbo tower is on backorder through WalMart.com I wound up getting an Altus 20 lb adjustable weighted vest. It was just $49 with free shipping site to store! I emailed WM.com to ask when the tower will be back in stock so we'll see if I get an answer there. I saw it on another site for $119 with $19 shipping so I may cave and do that if it winds up being a long time but that's $42 more than I would have paid before. I have my fingers crossed!

Have a great day everybody!

Colleen---I think that is what pushed me to stop STS---the extra pounds--- I did not lift as heavy as I could due to water weight. I was affraid. After working so hard to lose that unwanted weight. And see it come back. It was not easy to see on the scale. I think now, I have a better mindset, to see it. I feel the added muscle would help break thru this plateau. Thanks for all the suggestions and kind words. I really needed this extra support today. Thanks again. By the way, muscular chicks are hotter than skinny chicks!!!! :D

Looks like I will start STS over again, and lift to my max and see where it takes me. :)

Carolyn---Thanks!

Do you have your house puppy ready? I am so excited for you. I LOVE puppies!!!! How big will he/she get? My puppy (3 yrs old on Wednesday) is 60 pds now. She was only 11 pds when I got her @ 8 wks old. She is a spoiled baby. She sleeps on the loveseat. The loveseat has turned into her bed. She ate/destroyed her dog bed several times. But she loves the loveseat!!! (Not sure if I told you the story) I found her on my way to work one day. I pulled up at the end of my street at the stop sign and she poked her head up out of the ditch. I stoped in the middle of the road and crawled in the ditch and saved her. She could not even walk, she was covered in fleas and ticks. She was so annemic, she could not walk. After lots of baths, and TLC, and Vet visits, I nursed her to health. She was also all cut up on her right side. After she started to grow, she started to have knee problems. At 6 months old she had to have knee surgery. That was the end of her bad luck. Now, she is all healthy and playful. Because of her sickly start to life she ended up spoiled rotten. Now, she thinks she owns our house and we are her tenents. hahaha :D

Moral of my story is get ready....they will own you. hahaha :D

Good luck, and keep us posted on your new puppy!!!!!

The heat is horrible. I don't think you can survive in the south without central heat and air. But, I am sure the heat is not as bad for as long up there. Our cool/cold is over....till Late October/November. It will continue to get hotter and hotter....and eventually it will be 100 degrees. So hot you can literally fry an egg on the pavement.

Don't forget some puppy toys!!!! :p

Greetings,
I hope you all are doing well. I had a very busy weekend and no time to check in with the computer, but I did workout on Sunday and today. I usually take Monday as my rest day, but I ended up being off on Saturday since I was super busy all day prepping food for my fiance's birthday dinner. My eating has been kind of crappy since then since I made a birthday cake. Our birthdays are one day a part, mine is tomorrow his is today, so I'll be eating cake at least one more time this week. Oh well. You only live once.

Missy, I can totally relate to you and the plateau/scale obsession. That's basically where I am and that is why I am doing STS. I figured I was working out pretty hard and eating very clean for the last two months, and the scale is not budging...so I also thought more muscle might be a way to raise my metabolism. It's too early to tell, but I'm actually "enjoying" STS. I've never been a regular lifter, but I do like being strong and having muscles, so I'm eager to see what this program can do for me if I give it my all. Hang in there. We can motivate each other.

Jean, I'm sorry you hurt your shoulder. I hope you're laying low and taking it easy until its healed. There's not too much exercising you can really do with your shoulder hurting.

Betty, I bet you are so excited for your trip. I've been to Italy twice and it is so amazing. I studied Roman art and archaeology in college, so it was so special for me when I got to go and see it in person.

Gotta go hang out with my sweetie...have a good evening.

Eva

Good Evening!!! I got very busy tonight with chores and things. I did an hour of cardio though. I am starting STS tomorrow.

Eva---what day are you on? I did meso 1 and 2 and then stopped because I was freaking out about the scale and cardio. So this time I am going to go all the way through. I also was not lifting to my max because I was afraid of water weight. But, this time, I will lift to my max and see what happens.

Okay, gotta go. Chat later!!! :D

Good Morning! Woke up this morning and did not want to get up!!! I think I went to bed too late last night. I have to get 8 hrs of sleep or I am a mess. Well, I am a mess today. Got my running in this morning, but only did 45 minutes since I didn't get up in time.

Eva---Happy Birthday! Eat a piece of cake for me!!! :D Enjoy your day, it only comes once a year!!!!

Well....I started doing my IRM's and there is alot of them to do. It is truely like a workout. I wanted to start STS today...but I don't have all the 1 RM's done. I am going to try to knock all of them I need for the first week tonight. Depending on time.....Not sure if I can do Disc#1 tonight. I really want to attack it the right way this time. Last time, I just would estimate what weight I needed....sometimes it would be too much but alot of the time it would be too light.

How long did it take you to do the 1 RMs?

Hope you have a lovely day. BBL!!!! :)

Thanks for the birthday greetings, ladies! I greatly appreciate it. My plan for today is to spend most of it in my garden. I'm gearing up to go to the garden center, then I will come home and workout with Disc 10 hopefully! And then hit the soil.

Missy, I basically took one workout to do the 1RM and made that my workout for the day. I think I did the first 3 discs and it took me 90 minutes, so it's an investment. From there, I try to do them at the beginning of the week for the forthcoming workouts. Most of them are included in the first three discs, so from there were only a few more for each disc. Another good way to do them is when you finish one of your workouts, to look through which ones are left and to add them on then. Now I've just been looking at the moves and "guessing" a little bit. But, when I get to Meso 2, I will do the formal test again. The moves in 1 are all pretty similar, so guessing does not seem that bad to me, since I've already done the test for a move that was very, very similar.

Take care and have a great day everyone!
Eva

Thanks Carolyn and Eva!!!

I will start on the 1RM's tonight/after work.

Carolyn---make sure you work your abs!!!! We have to stay faithful to them since bikini season is here. Gotta look hot this summer!!!! :p

Eva---Garden work is so relaxing/stress releiver!!! I work in mine in the evenings. My tomato plants are starting to flower. The Squash and Cucumbers are flowering like crazy. I can't wait till I can eat them. Fresh is the best!!! Have fun!!! ;)

Okay, gotta go!!! I have lots of work to do today!!! BBL! :D

Hello everybody!

I did disc 16 today (chest, shoulders and triceps). I really like the back off sets in Meso 2! That failure set feels so light when you start out! :D Tomorrow will be legs and I'm hoping to get some cardio in too since I'll have the day off. I'm experimenting with alternating Wednesday and Friday off when I have to work Saturdays (which is every other week). I was just taking every other Friday off. This week has been crazy slow at work . It better pick up soon!

I can't wait to plant my garden! I'm so jealous of you guys who already have one in! Typically we have to wait until after Mother's day or risk a freeze. I'm thinking this year it will be okay to do it in early May. We'll have to see, though. I think I'll at least put in some cold weather vegetables like broccoli and carrots. I really want to try sweet corn this year but the last 2 times I tried it was a bust. I learned that corn needs ALOT of fertilizer and you have to plant several rows to get pollination (I think?). We will definitely put that dang fence up this year! Mark decided to be lazy last year and not put it up and sure enough the deer feasted on our green beans and peppers!

Carolyn- I've never heard of the Skippy books. I have read a lot of Dora books though. I'm always trying to do the Spanish words they throw in there and I always screw it up! I took French in high school because that was all my small town school offered! I really wish I had learned Spanish at some point...it would come in handy for eye exams! We don't get too many Spanish speaking patients and usually they bring in a family member to translate but I always feel so bad that I can't communicate with them well!
Are your kids getting excited for the puppy tomorrow??

Marie- I had a patient in today with cutest sweetest looking little baby girl! I'm feeling some serious baby fever lately! I just wanted to pick her up and kiss her! It's not going to be too long before my kids won't let me kiss them anymore so I make sure to gets tons of kisses and hugs in. Are you guys planning on having more than one baby? I remember the 2nd pregnancy, my belly pooched out almost immediately! The doctor said it's like your body "remembers" how to be pregnant!

Oh Carolyn- about the mailing of dvds, I always buy one of those bubble envelopes. They come in different sizes depending on how many you need. I also put a little piece of bubble wrap in the case to protect the disc from dislodging and getting scratched. That's crazy that people are willing to pay more than they would if they just bought it outright! People are so weird!

Jean- where are you? I hope you're feeling okay! Have you thought about trading the LIS dvd's on VF? You could trade them individually for workouts that you want. People did that a lot with the LIS preorder...they'd trade individual workouts they didn't want and kept the ones they liked. You can always just send it in a jewel case, just make sure you let the person know they aren't getting the original case. Are there any non-Cathe workouts your interested in?

Okay, later girls!

Colleen---As for the sweet corn---yes you need several rows for pollination. You also need good soil. So far, my corn is doing okay. This is our first year with corn. So we will see..... ;)

Jean---I hope your shoulder is doing okay. I miss ya!!! :)

Okay, I am glad I do not have to go to the post office today. I went for the office, but only to get the mail. I did not have to go inside. The line was actually out the door. (Tax day) I mailed mine yesterday, just so I did not have to stand in line. Yes I know, last minute. But, We have to pay taxes every year. I never get a return. It's not fair. But, don't get me started on that issue. hahaha :D

BBL!!!

Good Afternoon.

Jean---It so good to hear from you. I have missed you. You better go to the Dr for your shoulder so you do not hurt it worse. I am sorry it is not any better. How cool to foster needy animals. I would fall in love and not give them back. My husband keeps saying our house is full, and then a stray cat came up and now we are feeding it. But it is staying outside. The inside is at fully capicity.

The Biggest Loser is on tonight! Can't wait. I am ready for the drama.

One question.... what brand barbell's do you girls use? I want to get a better one and not sure what brand to go with. I have heard lots of good reviews on the troy lite barbell, but it is sold out everywhere. Advise please.

Thanks and Chat later! :D

Carolyn--Congrats on your sell on ebay! That's awesome. I absolutely love selling stuff on ebay. It is so exciting to see what you will make. I went on a selling spree a few years ago and sold all of the exercise dvd's I didnt use and misc other items. I was so excited at the end, when I could shop for free (basically) with the money I made. It is very exciting!

Have fun at the pet store!!! Tomorrow will be amazing for you and your kids. I am so happy for ya!!! Have fun with the puppy! :p

Gotta Go---I have 1 more hour till I get to go home and start doing my 1 RM's after I cook dinner!

BBL!!!

Jean---we were posing at the same time. That is awesome that you too take care of the needy. Animals have a special place in my heart.

I so want a Troy Lite barbell. I am looking online for one.

The Biggest Loser---I can only hope that Conda goes home. I just want to go through the TV and knock some sense into her. He attitude just makes me angry. I can't wait till 8 o'clock. I am going to have to go home and get busy so I can watch it. So excited.

BBL!!

Jean you should totally consider trading! It's a really cool way to try out new workouts without spending so much money. Here's the link to the Exchange List on VF Video Fitness Forum I'm pretty sure you have to be a member of the forum to view it though so if you aren't one yet you'd have to do that. It's really easy though and takes no time at all. Most people on there are really cool, although you'll always find a few difficult ones. I've had tremendous luck with it. You can post a list where you post your "trades" and then you write a "wish list" as well. You can also look at other people's lists to see if there is anything you'd be interested in.

Carolyn- I flew into Manchester when I went to visit Amy last time! You are really close to her!

Have a great evening ladies!

Good Evening! Well, now I remeber why I didn't fo my 1 RM's. It is time consuming. I actually just finished doing them for Disc #1,2,3. So now I can start the program tomorrow if I can move. My muscles are on fire!!!! (as Cathe wold say)

I have Friday off...so I will work on more then.

Off to shower and then watch the biggest loser!!!

Chat with ya tomorrow!!!
