STS first time!

Just did Drill Max! I love that one! Does anyone else have that one and love it? I was going to try IMAX 3 with my new cardio club step but immediately got lost after the warm up so that came out of the dvd player pretty quickly!

Mark just got back from the hospital visiting grandma. They finished the colonoscopy but we don't have the results yet. We'll probably hear more later today.

Off to shower. Have a great Sunday everybody!

Good Evening!!! Just finished TBT---I absolutley love this DVD. It is my favorite!!! I also did some abs!!!!

Jean---You will get thru this workout! Let me know how you like it. Thanks for the nice words about my sucess. I really am dedicated and are working hard to acheive my goals. I feel good. I actually have been buying a few items (clothes) here and there, but they are too big now. My husband bought me 2 new shirts today. It is exciting going into summer. I am looking forward to buying a bathing suit!!!!

Colleen---I have Drill max!! It is also an amazing workout. It is very challenging. The first time I did it I thought I was going to die. hahaha :D

Carolyn---Your are so lucky to have a pool!!!!!It also must be nice to have a family member that is a vet. As you know I have lots of animals and I always worry about them. I am lucky to have a wonderful vet that lives less the 5 miles from my house.

Okay, gotta go to bed soon. I will chat with ya tomorrow. Have a nice evening!!!! :D

Mar only print out one w/o at a time. Then go back in and update your one rm's and by the time you get to Meso 2 , you might have them right. That is how I did it. Maybe by the time you are ready to do the 6 mos , I will be ready again. I have gained so much muscle and I really noticed the changes in Meso 3. Make sure you post daily so we can know how you are doing.
Jean

Ok, I've printed out my workout for tomorrow and will make notes so I can update my orm's. I plan to do ab circuits on MWF, along with STS. Did any of you do the Abs along with STS? Then TTSS will be cardio days with stretching. It feels good to be getting serious about my strength training again after being lackadaisical about it for so long. And I'll post my workouts daily. :)

Morning everybody!

It turns out Mark's Grandma has diverticulosis. She is just so miserable! She'll have to stay in the hospital another 48 hours I guess but then she'll be able to go home. It certainly could have been worse though.

Mar- we're pretty infamous around here for slacking on our abs lately! :p It's become a sort of running joke...we're all trying though! I just ordered more short ab dvd's to use as an add on to workouts so I hope I can make myself do them more. I ordered Suzanne Bowen's Gorgeous Core and a pilates dvd by Laura Tarbell called ultimate abs and core. I already have a few ab dvds including ab circuits but usually when I get something new it motivates me a little more. :D

Linda I'm so sorry about your carpal tunnel and shoulder! I had terrible carpal tunnel when I was pregnant with my kids, especially my son. I had an episode a few years ago where I had it again (especially on my right side) and it was numb all the way down my arm. It turned out to be neck related so after a few chiropractor visits it settled down and I haven't had any more numbness. Body betrayal stinks!

Marie I'm so glad your feeling better! It's so hard to tolerate certain things when your pregnant isn't it? Is your sense of smell super sensitive? I've always loved salmon and it would have been super healthy to eat it while I was pregnant but, only during those 9 months, I couldn't tolerate the smell of it so I never ate it! So weird!

Jean- TBT lower body is tough but at least it's short so it shouldn't be too bad! I would probably try it the first time through without weights to see how your body responds DOMS wise. You can always add weight the next time you do it!

Carolyn- Missy is right...Drill Max is the bomb! I know, I'm being an evil enabler again! Hee! Seriously though I think you would love that one. Basic choreography and a totally fun butt kicker! Here's the clip: Cathe Friedrich's Drill Max DVD workout video exercise dvd
I would just put it on your wish list for future if you don't want to spend the money now though!;)

Okay I gotta get in the shower! Have a great Monday girls!

Good Morning everyone! I did my hour of cardio this morning!!! And then off to work!!

It is wide open here, I swear people freak out when the office is closed for the weekend. Monday---people think there are dieing, so they have to be seen. Tuesday and Wednesday are busy but our slower days. Thursday---people realize the weekend is coming and need to be checked to make sure they can survive till Monday. Friday---watch out---everyone comes out of the woods because we are closing @ 5---for 2 days!!! hahaha :D

I am so glad, I do not depend on pills to get through life. It is the best feeling, knowing that you have control of your life through eating healthy and exercise!!!!

If only more people would realize thats all it takes. But, it is very scarey to think....you mention the word exercise to most people, and they freak. hahaha :p:p:p

Gotta go. Be back later.

Have a wonderful Monday!!!!!

Disc #16 tonight!!!

Missy- I totally hear you on the prescription pills so many people depend on these days! When I take medical histories I often run out of room writing down people's meds!! Diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, heart disease, anti-depressants, thyroid, etc. etc. It's so crazy! There are some things that are totally necessary for people to take but the large majority of modern day health problems are due to being sedentary and poor diet! If only more people knew the joy of physical activity! Not that everyone could handle Cathe workouts...but certainly more people could be walking and doing strength training of some sort. Even just the bare minimum would be something if every single person did it!

Okay, off my soap box now. :p

Hope everyone's having fun working out today...;)

Marie - Thanks for the welcome. :)

Jean - I've officially begun. I did Meso 1, Disc 1 today. :) And I did the extended stretch and ab circuits (pilates).

Went to big 5 today and bought four 5 lb plates, two 2 1/2 lb plates, and four 1 1/4 lb plates. Now I'll be able to do a better job of finding a more precise barbell weight to lift.

I can't figure out how can change the weights for what I did today. I want my workout to reflect the actual weights I lifted as opposed to the target weight. Can someone help me with that?

Mar, I too neglect my abs. There just doesn't seem to be enough time after the looong STS workouts!

When I have been working out regularly, abs are something I have no trouble doing faithfully. Actually, when I work out regularly, I'm pretty good at working all parts on a regular basis. Good thing I'm getting back to strength training...I had stopped all of it for a while (that's the all or nothing mentality for you).

What I did today was do Disc one STS, then the abs circuit, and then the extended stretch. So that was a 50 minute workout, then 19 minutes of abs, and then 15 minute (guessing) stretch. Doing the last two did lengthen the workout quite a bit which can be hard for folks who have a tight schedule.

Hi Everyone,

I did Disc 20 Legs last night, and it felt good, I was able to do all my weights. I am wondering why I have so much trouble with the Chest discs, I think I must be using my shoulder muscles too much. I would love to have Cathe correct my form. And I've been able to do cardio and abs on my off days. I feel much more like myself when I can keep up with my cardio.

Carolyn, I would love to see pics of your bathroom. We are planning to redo the kids bathroom soon and I'm looking for ideas. Our house was built in the 70s so that blue tub, blue toilet and blue sink are all going.

I love Drill Max too, and those deals of the day are really good deals. I have been resisting only because I already have so many workouts I can't squeeze them all in. I may get Slow and Heavy if that comes on, only because it is so different. I had recorded it when it was on Fit TV but I don't have a vcr anymore!

Colleen, did you watch Mad Men? I was only able to watch the first 30 minutes, I'm hoping I can watch the rest tonight. I liked it so far. Can't believe he married his secretary after all!

Hey girls!

Marie I'm afraid I'm not much help since, when I was pregnant, I hadn't been working out much! I used to work out in college and then from about age 28 to 37 I was really inconsistent and around the time I was having my kids I pretty much didn't work out at all! I was pretty out of shape...not really heavy or anything but not fit at all! I bet my first delivery would have been much easier if I had been. I was in labor for 12 hours with my son and the poor kid (and me!) had crowned and was stuck there for 3 hours! I was so exhausted trying to push I was begging for an episiotomy! Stupid midwife held out! When I finally got one, it was all over in seconds! Not a big fan of midwives after that! lol

Maryk we haven't watched Mad Men yet. Got it DVR'd. We were going to watch it last night but I was so tired from not being able to fall asleep Sunday night that I went to bed right after the kids! At 8:00:eek:! We'll probably watch it tonight. :D

Jean you're going to love Drill Max! I can't believe she had it as the daily deal! She must've been reading our thread! It is a long workout but there are premixes. I usually try to do the whole thing though so I save that one for Sunday's when I have lots of time. There is plenty of impact. It's funny it doesn't bother my knees. I do modify when needed although for some reason I went for it on Sunday and actually did some of the really high stuff. There is one part where she incorporates a little tuck jump and I usually either modify or take those to the rebounder but I did it on Sunday! I've learned a lot over the past few years about how to keep my knees happy. I really credit the hydraplenish but I also feel the cushy puzzle mats I got made a HUGE difference. They really absorb the impact. Also I've really learned how to keep the knees "soft" when I land. I am careful to not do high impact more than twice a week too. Everything adds up to make a difference! It was a total learning curve for me!

Carolyn your bathrooms and kitchen sound so nice! We so need to redo both of those in our house! Our kitchen cabinets look so bad and there are a few that don't even match!

Better go get that workout in!
Later girls!

Thanks Jean, I got the actual weight numbers changed for yesterday. It seemed some of the numbers weren't sticking but now they are. Plus my calories burned were showing for the stretch and ab workout but not the strength workout but now I have that working right.

I don't know how much my plates cost because my husband had been searching Walmart and other places in town for plates 5 lbs and below, for me. (He was doing this on his own and hadn't told me). Big 5 was the only place he could find them. He was really happy he could find some for me (I was too) so when we picked them up, I didn't even think to question the price, even though I'd been pricing them online. Anyway, I have them now and will get to start using them for my workout tomorrow, rather than waiting for someone else to get them in or having to order them online.

You mean, did I do the 23,681,006 in in Disc 1? :p Yeah, I did them but I did all of them from the knees. I haven't done pushups in a long while so it will be a long time until I can do them from the toes. I'd made up my mind not to let that bother me and just do them from my knees. I know that 3 months from now, I'll be a lot stronger and will be able to do them a lot better. BTW, I don't want it to sound like I could ever do very many pushups from my toes. I never really pushed myself in that area and this time I'm going to try get stronger pushup-wise.

I hurt my knee last year and was doing PT for it but then I actually tore my metatarsal and had to have surgery. The entire time my knee was hurt, I couldn't do pushups from my toes or knees because it aggravated the injury (a lot).

I'm sore today in the abs and upper body. No injury type pain at all, just the good kind of sore from working out properly.

When doing the pushups from the knees, do you do them all from the ground? I don't see how you could do them from the bench or the ball but I didn't try. I wanted to try to do them all so I just kept doing them with my knees on the ground.

We actually own a real Power Tower! Had it for about 15 years. I could do a few real pullups but haven't done those either for a long time. I still will probably get a Turbo Tower type thing too because I don't have a rack for bench press type exercises (used to have an exercise bench with one but finally croaked). I have bands that will fit on the door too, that will help me to work towards doing real pullups.

I reason I got hooked on weight training for my legs was that I had so many running injuries. Weight training and biking is what allowed me to have fewer injuries in my legs, when I ran. So I guess that motivation (since I loved to race 5k up to the marathon) was what kept me happy to do weights for legs. Now though, my running days are pretty much over because of the knee injury I had last year. :(

Good luck with legs tomorrow Jean! That's so funny your husband thought Plyo legs sounded scary. That one really isn't so bad. Modify, modify modify is my motto when things get hairy!;)

As far as push ups Mar, I actually liked doing the ones where you have your hips on the ball and push up with your hands on the ground but (and I can't remember if I saw these in STS or somewhere else) there are ones where she has you push up with your hands on the ball and your feet on the ground. I found those totally, absolutely, positively, impossible!! I suppose you need to have amazing core strength to keep your body stable during those (another reason do more core work!). I'm so sorry about your knee injury and that you can't run anymore because of it too, Mar. :( The dang human knee joint was just not made to last, I swear!

Gotta go...BBL :)

Jean - Plyo legs does sound funny now that I think about it. :p

My husband usually runs about 10 miles a day and he does abs and pullup/pushup regularly. But he has a chronic hay bale lifting injury that hampers upper body work. If we didn't have to deal with hay all the time, I guess it'd go away but our horses are worth it (poor hubby).

We just came back from a hike...we live a mile high and have some really big hills so it's a good workout.

cokonkel - I'm very careful to modify things because of my knees. My conformation isn't very straight when it comes to my legs so I was injured a lot and that's why I put so much emphasize on biking and weights even as a runner. Doing that extended my running career. And yeah, the knee is not a very durable joint. Another joint that is very wimpy is the TMJ (temporomandibular joint...jaw joint). And it's almost impossible to repair.

Good Afternoon ladies!!!! Sorry I had been missing today. It has been crazy at the office. No computer time!!!!

I HAVE ONLY A FEW SECONDS....

Just wanted to say hi!!!

Be back later! :D

Holy crap that's a great price! Wow, I didn't know that about it only being good for a year though...hmmm. I'll have to take a look at my bottle when I get home!

I used to get Syn-ake at WalGreens and before that they even sold it at Wal-Mart for a brief time. Now I can't find it anywhere but on Amazon. I really hope that doesn't mean they are going to be discontinuing the product!

I'm still at work. Phooey.:(

Well, the Syn-ake bottle says 2009 on it.:( I wonder if other lotions or serums with the synake peptide in it work too? I've seen other kinds on Amazon but most are more expensive. I liked this one because it wasn't terribly priced and the cream wasn't too heavy or tacky. Crap.

I can't decide what to do today for my workout! I have two non-Cathe workouts I need to de-virgnize but then I was thinking Circuit Blast would be fun...then I was thinking I needed something low impact so Cardio Supersets would be good. I don't think I'll know until I actually go to put something in the dvd player!

Have a great day everybody!

Good Morning! I woke up and did my cardio!!!

Last night, my hubby was on the computer and I watched Biggest Loser!!! Once again, Conda is still there. :( Maybe next week!!! hahaha

I did Travel Fit last night. It was actually very tough. Does anyone have that DVD? I thought it would be a light activity DVD since it only requires a resistance band, but if you use a medium to heavy band it is very challenging!!!

At work now, check back later. Have a lovely day! :)

jean---I work for a 2 physican practice---internal medicine. My docs are very good to us girls, I am honored to work for them. They are very good with patients also. One of them is very into exercise, he rides his bike to and from work. He also, is big into bike riding and swiming. He is a bean pole. But, its funny because ----him and I are always chating about fitness and the other girls ...... well it makes them sick, because they are far from being healthy. I feel working in this enviroment has helped me continue to stay motivated to be healthy. I see to much......If the patients would only open there eyes. But, they want no part of exercise and well being. Its very sad. All they want is pills.

You shouls try Travel Fit. I too have had it for months and had never done it. So last night, I did 30 minutes on my elliptical and then decided to try something new.

I also have a few more DVD's on my wish list...but she hasn't offered them yet. Maybe tomorrow, if not I have plenty to close from.

Oh....My elliptical that I got last week is amazing. It has the IFIT live program on it. And, it is truely amaxing. I competed in a race with it Monday and I was so pumped and it was so fun. It also gives you tons of workouts, that download to you equipment. You can also create maps to workout to. It actually knows the elevations and controls the machine so you are constantly changing resistance to modidy for hills, etc. I am so excited. I told my husband if I stay motivated with this over the next few months I may need to upgrade my treadmill to one that has this program on it. It allows yu to compete with people all around the world. Its amazing!!! :p:p:p:p:p

Gotta Go---Be back later. :D
