STS CHECK IN DISC 17

Hi All....Post your results for Disc 17. I am doing this one after I teach Boot Camp at 5:30... If you're up for double trouble, come join me

No thanks, Cathe - Disc 17 by itself was challenging enough ;)!

I normally don't like legs but I loved this workout! Doing the trisets with only 10 reps kept everything from seeming never-ending like it sometimes seems to be :p. I kept dreaming last night that my leg workout kept getting postponed so I was really glad - even at 4:00 - to get up and do it so nothing could happen to my plan .

This one is on tap for tomorrow morning -- I need to check my workout card!

Last week I was sooooo sore -- probably four days sore! I am going to go lighter tomorrow -- about 50% of the 1RM I think. I am running a 5k on Saturday and I need my legs to be strong for my race!

See you at 5 am, Cathe!;)

5am? Gulp! More power to you at that early chirpers hour. Good Luck to you on Saturday. That sounds like a lot of fun.

Hi Everyone! I'm really enjoying how these tri-sets feel. By the third rep of the three exercises I feel completely wiped and ready to see new exercises. While the deep glute area seems to always take the lead for me, tonight I started to notice a new firmness in my gluteus minimus area (across the hip area) and a tighter inner thigh, yippee. I keep forgetting to prepare my mind for calves at the end. When I'm on that last set of the last triset I'm all pumped and ready to pat myself on the back :D and I hear that we're doing calves . As bummed as I am not to actually be done, those calf raises really fry me by the last set. Ouch. Btw, today I moved to a wall in place of hanging on to the back of the chair and it was easier for me to balance like this. Just thought I'd share.

Do you realize we are going to be finishing up STS right in time for bathing suit season? How perfect!!!!

Well, I'm looking forward to hearing how you all did. I know I switched my workout days on you so I'm a little early but these day change are working out better for me.

Sleep Well!

Exhausted

Hi Cathe, I'm loving these tri sets as well! Glad to hear that they wipe you out too, that makes me feel better, I was a little worried. I am so tired after each one all I can say is 3 more reps & I can rest for a minute. Then the rest is over & it felt like 10 seconds. But actually the time goes very quickly, I can hardly believe its over. I work out on Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday also, that way it doesn't interfere with bible study on Wednesday. Thanks for sharing & have a good night.

I love this one when I did it the first time. I will be doing it again tomorrow. The calves exercise at the end is BRUTAL.

I am definitely psyched about this!! Once I finish one complete round, I am planning to go right back to meso 2 which will take me right up to the day my family leaves for the beach!

And thanks for the encouragement for my race Saturday -- I owe my cardiovascular endurance to you!

Good morning. I just got done doing Disc 17 and once again my legs are fried! Last week I could hardly get up and down the steps for a few days and I have a feeling this is going to happen again. Cathe-thanks for the tip on those calf raises. I had my hand on the wall instead of a chair this morning and seemed to do much better. Plus I wore my Cathe weighted vest instead of increasing my dumbbell weight.

Love those trisets!!!!

Have a good day everyone.

Bev

That was tough. Will I be able to walk later today? and I don't even want to think about the stairs in my house. I almost gave up on the last round of the last tri set but I didn't and pushed thru. Only did 2 sets of calf raises. This was one hard workout. I never did so many lunges in so many variations in one workout. Liked the triset idea but the lunges were brutal--for me.

Wow, I'm fried! I LOVE the trisets! I'm able to follow my workout card for everything except the inner thigh exercise where you put the weight on the floor and change hands. For some reason my card says I should use a 64lb dumbbell for that one. I must have been eating my Wheaties the day I did my 1 rep max. Since the largest dumbbell I have is 40 pounds, that's what I used. I don't think my hand could handle anything bigger. Do you think I should try a 30lb dumbbell in each hand instead of alternating?

I love the way these workouts feel - I'm spent by the end, but I don't feel like I'm overtraining. Somehow you've found just the right balance. I notice the time flies by during each workout, and it seems that the program is flying by as well. I can't believe we're almost halfway done, and I'm still looking forward to each day. I'm normally not good at sticking with rotations, but it's not a problem with STS. I can't wait to do the whole thing again in the fall with STS Cardio on the other days! Please, please, please, give us a rotation incorporating both STS programs!

I have noticed I'm extra sleepy, more so than I was in Meso 1, and I'm craving protein. Hopefully that's a good sign that the hypertrophy is happening. Thanks for everything!

:eek:YIKES!!!

I just finished disc 17 and I felt I accomplished a killer leg workout AND a cardio workout !!!
I was breathing like I was in the middle of an IMAX workout !

That was a quick and intense one. I really enjoyed it . If you can enjoy dripping in sweat and breathing like you are running a marathon ! :p

I know I'll feel it tomorrow . I HOPE not as intensly as last week though. I really was in pain for a few days.

Happy 1st day of April everyone !!! Spring has Sprung at last !!!:D:D:D:D

This workout was hard. Most certainly. My DH got home last night just as I finished, took one look at me and said "Cathe killed you, eh?"
I felt like the 1 min rest periods go so much faster than in the upper body workouts - really breathing hard on all the trisets.
Loved Jai's face when Cathe says we need to do 3 sets of calf raises - I knew it was coming from last week, but didn't notice her expression til yesterday - I was in total agreement.
Happy Wednesday.

My workout card has sweat drips on it...eeew! I was breathing hard! This was THE first disc that I was able to keep up with and not pause...it flew by and boy was I glad because it was tough. I was pretty sore last week and was still able to feel my hamstrings going into this workout. My calves were already sore from CTX Kickbox yesterday so they were screaming today. All in all I feel Very successful and for the first time am looking forward and not away from bathing suit season. WOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Cathe!:D

I did this workout yesterday, and my glutes today feel like they're 2 inches higher! I'm not sore, except in my bad hip (arthritis), but my legs were tired and stiff before my cardio workout this morning. Thanks so much, Cathe, for recommending we do BC all-cardio premix and the Quick Fix Cardio the day after STS Legs!!. I did manage to get loosened up enough for the cardio, but it sure was challenging at the start. I also did the no-equipment AC abs.

I loved the leg workout...when it was over! By the second tri-set I was just wishing it were over already! It's so strange to comprehend the level of intensity we're working at, when our bodies are moving so slowly, and we're taking all those rest periods. My heart rate was up there, and my clothes were completely soaked by the end of the 47mins. It takes some mental adjustment.

I'm looking forward to and dreading tomorrow's back & bicep workout. It's going to be tough!! But it's good for me, right???

Sandra

Great workout!

Loving the tri-sets. Well, love-hate, LOL! However, I still need to go out and get heavier dumbbells. I think my forearms are getting stronger since they were burning less than last week. Surprisingly, I'm not sore today. Disc 16 had me sore for about 3 days!

Hi All!

This one was easier for me than last week's legs routine mainly because I knew more what to expect. My heart rate was up there & I was dripping with sweat, but didn't have to pause to rest except for the normal rest times. I increased my weights as last week's felt light on some exercises. I felt more of a burn--especially in the buttocks! I guess I'll be feeling the DOMS soon!

I agree this feels more like a legs & cardio workout! I certainly don't mind that though! :)

Thanks Cathe for your suggestion to use a wall instead of a chair to do the calf work--I became very wobbly during the 3rd set so next week I'll try the wall.

Tough one. My weights seem too heavy since I'm struggling to keep good form even in the first set, from the get go... I wonder what I was thinking when I did my 1RM tests!

Anyhow, the strange thing is that I feel no tightening or soreness yet, and last week I didn't either. I do notice some muscle tightness the following day.

Last week I noticed that DOMS hit 48 hours later and then lasted for several days. I'm getting the same effect this week. Disk 16 has got my triceps sore today. In meso 1, I got sore the same day and that soreness lasted 3-4 days. Interesting how working the muscles differently can cause entirely different soreness patterns!

I don't want to sound psycho or anything - but I think your getting in my head a little too much Cathe. Last night I had a dream that you were my personal trainer and had me running down our city streets and then stopping to do push ups at stop lights. I was excited (because you were my personal trainer!) - but exhausted because of the work you had me doing! I think my mind is always thinking of STS. How weird...

Anyway - I think Disc 17 legs is going to creep up on me like Disc 16 did. I was not sore right away like last week after doing #13 but on Tuesday it was like "hello!". My upper body is still sore from Monday. I have a feeling tomorrow disc 17 is going to bite me in the butt as well. (figuratively speaking...) :)
