STS Cardio days

OK, I want to follow the 6 month rotation verbatim to Cathe's suggestion. However, I don't have all the cardio workouts she recommended. I'm thinking I could throw in whatever I have on hand or do one she recommended again. But, I'm concerned that since she suggested a lot of premixes (ones I've never done before) if there isn't some specific reason or purpose to doing premixes. Is she throwing in premixes for variety or to create a specific cardio workout. I don't want to run, walk or use a treadmill. What's everyone else doing?

I run 2 days a week and then do some sort of video on the third day. I either do the IMAX2 which I have on my dvr from Fit TV, or Jillian Michaels new circuit wo, Boost Metabolism or something like that is the name, or Turbo Jam style.

I'm doing the six month rotation, and I've modified Cathe's recommendations a bit (and would have even if I were doing the three month rotation).

In coming up with my rotation, I did look at the type of cardio she was going for in her recommendations (for instance, kickboxing, steady-state, intervals, etc) and tried to come up with a similar type of workout for the second week. So, for instance, if she recommended KPC for Thursday one week in an STS cycle, I might do Cardio Kicks for my second week in that cycle.

I've only done that for two days a week because my lower body likes to be worked out more than once a week, so on the third day a week (like right now on Tuesdays since I'm doing STS legs on Fridays), I do a cardio/leg combined workout (like Body Max 2's Scrambled Eggs or something like 4DS Kickbox and legs). But that's just how I've modified it to fit my own needs.

My recommendation to you is to try to get as much variety as you can in the workouts you choose (interval, steady-state, etc) but not to worry about your selections too much as they relate to what Cathe selected if that isn't possible.

My take on it is that the premixes are the more cardio-based portions of the workouts. For example, Drill Max is full of strength work which you don't want to be doing in between STS days, so she recommended the Timesaver Cardio Blast. I haven't actually done this premix yet, but just going by the name implies that it is comprised of cardio segments culled from the full workout.

Yes, the premixes she suggests are 'cuz they are just cardio.

I've been doing the same thing as another poster does: I look at the type of cardio, rather than the actual title, if I don't own it or just feel like doing something else. I don't think it really matters that much as long there's no weights involved.

I'm trying to follow Cathe's cardio suggestions but like you, I don't have some of the workouts. What I'm doing is following what I can on Thurs and Sat and every Tues I'm doing an STS plyo workout. That way I can get a 2nd leg workout PLUS a cardio. :) I'm also doing the 6 month rotation.

thanks everyone. You're right, the premixes are just the cardio portion of the tape. I think I'll just do like you said as well and figure out what she intended and substitute with a like workout that i do own. I'm in week 9 of P90X and am doing everything I can to be prepared for STS when I'm done so I can go right into it.

I'm dying to start STS but I committed myself to P90X and I am determined to finish it.
