STS Body Rockers - Week of Nov 7th

Hello All!!

My workouts yesterday (Mon) were HIIT 25 & AB premix #3 intervals 6-10. Premix 2 & 3 are much harder than premix #1. The 30 minutes go by so fast I'm always surprised & glad I'm finished. I have yet to do the whole thing.

Thanks Barb!! Glad your back from the dark ages!! & congrats on the weight loss!! Maybe your body needed the rest!!

Kris, I haven't tried TBT yet, thanks for warning me about the DOMS!! I finally made it to Meso 2, I might actually finish STS this time. I don't think I would have if I hadn't joined this check in.

Katie, I haven't done all of TB yet, I think I'll join in & do it this weekend!!

Bridget, how's our spinning queen?

Kiki I appreciate your "ramble", it explains alot & I will now be more patient. I always think I should see results right afterward, that's why I would always stop STS & go on to something else when I saw no change at the end of the week. Same size as in high school? That's inspirational!!!

Great workouts Wendy!! I have a lot of trouble doing dive bomber pushups, I really never thought of doing them on my knees until I saw Sean do it, DUH!!!

Hello Terina & Erin!!

Wiggie:: Dive bombers are TOUGH and she stuck them right after reverse push ups which only made them TOUGHER! I didn't think to do them on my knees either! UGH! I was struggling. Ended up switching about half way thru to doing half db's where you only go "under" once instead of twice per push up.

Good Morning.

No work out for me this morning. My good intentions went down the tubes but it's ok...my legs are FRIED from BR y'day so maybe it's for the best?

Good Morning!

I ended up doing 4DS-KB yesterday, since I was so scared to lift, trying to avoid the migraine monster  . The endorphins did me some good, and I was able to make it through the day w/minimal pain. I'm wondering if I should take that same route today, as the pain still lingers, just taunting me and waiting to be pushed over the edge w/just the right overhead press  . I would just lower the weights and go for it, but, I really wanna lift hard (ya'll know how I get ;) ) and just don't see the point of doing the wo if I can't give it my all, ya know? Go hard or go home, right. (that's what DS always says, lol - did I sound hardcore? ) *sigh* maybe I'll just do some LIS-YR and call it a day? :( I really should've planned that rest week better...

Katie: That scone sounds perfect, especially the chocolate part (can ya tell it's TTOM, all I can think about is sugar & chocolate  ) Can I get an advance on it, or do I have to actually do LIS-LIC to get it? As for your game plan from now til April (ending STS), it sounds good to me. I do like to do some fat shedding before starting STS, too. However, it's against my religion to lose weight in the winter........... "Thou shalt not eat in a caloric deficit during cold weather"................  OK, OK, so it's not technically against my religion, but I do have really strong feelings about it.....I don't believe in it :p. Fall/winter = maintenance or bust, baby!

Wendy: Ummm. You do recall that I was considering doing that BR wo, right? Then you wanna come back reporting how your legs are so fried, that you couldn't wo the next day?! Guess it's back to the self talk session that I began yesterday........

Terina: Welcome back! I loved AB too, especially how fast it goes by. Can't wait to hear how the Nov rotation treats ya. Which one did you decide on? W/ or w/o STS?

Wiggie: Yep, same size as high school, took me a while to believe it, myself. I'd gained about 30-40 lbs (stopped keeping track, just wore VERY stretchy clothing, ), which looked HORRIFIC on my barely 5ft frame. Then I got serious about lifting because of all the benefits I learned of (see my "ramble" to Katie for more info on that :p ). Refusing to go the traditional "cardio bunny" route has really made a difference for me. But it took really "UN-attaching" myself from what the scale said.

Good morning!

This morning I did Total Body Tri-Sets: Lower Body Split for the first time. It was awesome. Different than Cathe's other lower body workouts in that half of the exercises used medium/heavy weights and half used light/no weights. I found the last tri-set to be the hardest. Those one leg squats/cross over thingies are laughable. I have decent balance on my right leg but my left, not so much. I was falling all over the place.  Practice, practice!

Wendy: EEK EEK EEK! So excited to try a few BR workouts!!! Fried legs huh? Now i'm getting nervous! Good idea to rest and give your legs a chance to recover. Gotta get ready for some Turbo Barre fun this weekend! :p ;)

Wiggie: Wow, great workouts lately! If you can survive HiiT + 1/2 of Afterburn you can definitely do all of Afterburn. You should definitely give TB a shot this weekend. It rocks!! Let us know what you think.

Kiki: Nothing like a little KB to get the endorphins flowing. ;) I definitely think you should NOT lift at the moment. It sounds like the headache is under control but a day of heavy lifting might send it out of control and then you'll be completely out of commission for awhile. Now Kiki you should know there are no advances here! Go hard or go home right? Let's see some LIC!!!! :D :p "However, it's against my religion to lose weight in the winter" - hahaha! Love this. I think once I hit my goal weight I will "adopt" this religious viewpoint. :p Well, not really my goal "weight," maybe I should say my goal "body composition" or goal "pants size" instead. I rarely weigh myself because, well, my stupid scale sucks. I have this "idea" in my head though hat I want to wear a size 4 again. No particular reason, I just wanna. Once I get there (and i'm close - i'm in a size 6 and all my size 8 pants literally fall off without a belt - hope that never happens in front of the judge :D) i'll move into maintenance mode no matter what the scale says (if it says anything...it doesn't work half the time).

Also, in case anyone is interested, i've put together a hardcore rotation to KEEP OFF the holiday weight. It is currently listed in the workout manager under "rotations" - i've labeled it "Prevent the Holiday Gain." I tried to insert a link to the rotation, but no luck.

The rotation focuses on intense cardio/circuits with 1 full body workout a week. My goal is to focus on fat burning/weight loss but maintain my current strength level in preparation for my next round of STS (i.e. no split workouts). I plan on subbing BR workouts for a few of the HiiT and/or short cardio and/or plyo leg workouts, but I haven't got that far into my planning. :)

The generic breakdown looks something like this:

Circuit or cardio + weights
Cardio (Longer and/or higher intensity)
Cardio (Shorter and/or lower intensity)
Total Body
Cardio
Cardio/leg/circuit

Just thought I would share in case anyone was looking for a similar type rotation! :)

ricklyk1/B] Sounds like a great plan...what anything that keeps us going :D
kik uggh those headaches sound misrable. I get something similar and really send me for a loop. I am glad your trucking on though! Sucks thats how u got hurt, but u did by the dvd's...let give it a try soon
Wendy hows all the new equiment going? is the reverse pull up worth that purchase?
katie can i have some of that coffee and scone too lol as a matter a fact let have a coffee break meet together! ps i love the turnovers..i just need to perfect the crust a bit.
Terina/B]welcome back!!
Ok so I was watching dr Oz yesterday..love him. But he had on Tony Horton and I Loved what he said. He was saying you have to exercise for the right reasons. To many people do just cause they need to fit in to a dress or something. ANd i feel this way myself. While i love to loose my last 10lbs, I truley do it because i love it. I love being fit and active and see way to much how the other half ends up ( from work) . The interview actually made me consider buying p x 90. I always shy away from all those things with infomericals cause its all bogus! But maybe just maybe a i would try:cool:
I planing on a little yoga tomorrow hopefully! I really need some good old stretching. Ok have a great one ladies

WW meeting this morning- 1.2lb weight loss, total 9lb wt loss since August which is 5% of my original wt lost- though I think their math is fuzzy- I weighed 153 when I started, I'm now 144...oh well.

Today's meeting was about television, and finding ways to be productive while watching television, maybe doing light exercise in the commercial breaks. As someone who doesn't watch much television, and when I do I am always doing something, folding laundry, doing housework, I found the meeting annoying. Some of these people watch 5-8 hours of TV a day- what a freakin' waste of unproductive time! I wondered what their homes look like? Do they have time to cook? Can they keep jobs? I wondered what I would do if I had that kind of free time daily-I was so aggravated- I had nothing to contribute to the topic today- forgive me if I offended any TV watchers here.

My big goal up until the New Year is to get under 140- and to show some self control over the Holidays!

Katie- Have you seen Cathe's November rotation- the non STS & LIC one? I'm adapting that with my spinning to stay on target.

Wendy- I think Cathe had dive bomber pushups in AB- and I stunk at them- perhaps they were reverse dive bombers? I'm not the best pushupper to begin with, when you add the discs and fancy stuff to it I fall to my knees for sure.

Kiki- I'm so sorry about the migraines. I'm with Katie, find a dark quiet room, take your rescue medications and think positive thoughts.

Wiggie- I did spin this morning- she included Jethro Tull in the mix which was wierd, but effective.

Erin- my spin group is very inspiring too- most of us go to work afterward, and often go in on our days off

Terena- AB is a great workout- glad you had a good vacation, got to do some leaf peeping?

Barb- enjoy your power- some parts of CT still are out of power from the storm- we were lucky where I live.

Hi Kris

Step, pump & jump or a high step workout for tomorrow? Hmm, let me ponder those options! I may be ripe for a Terminator workout this weekend too Katie!

Bridget

Bridget:: I am not a big tv watcher but I do admit to letting the computer suck me in too often ...not for 5-8 hours a night though! Congrats on the weight loss! That's fantastic! Keep up the good work! Yes, I vaguely recall some form of Dive Bombers in that work out as well. I can do them but the way they were set up after reverse push ups in BR just killed me! I thought for sure I'd have upper body DOMS but ended up with lower. Go figure!

Erin:: I have P90X and did the program in full back in 2007 and got awesome results! IKWYM about the informercials but it really is a quality program. I am loving all of my new equipment! The dip station is sooo worth the money! Love love LOVE it! :D

Katie:: Haven't tried Trisets yet. except for the yogas I think it's the only thing I haven't touched on in the new series yet. Not sure when I will do it. Can't wait to hear what you think of BR! Why did you have to remind me of our TB committment this weekend while my legs are sore!? I think you just made them feel worse!!!!:p;)

Kiki:: Um haven't you done BR before?? What are you so afraid of then??:p Sorry about the migraines. What a bummer. :(

Hi there everyone,

Holy moly, talk about doms, doms, doms from TBT UB and LB! After TBT LB - the next day I think - I went to pick up something off the floor and... didn't know if I was going to raise back up... lol - love love the (especially LB) doms! So... yesterday, I couldn't bear to do anything and today was Yoga relax... think I'll be back up for something more challenging tomorrow.

Katie - thanks for the rotation! Looks awesome, will give that a try I think. I hear you about those one legged squat cross over thingies - uh... yeah.... i didn't even get close...

Bridget - congrats on the wt loss! That's awesome!

Kiki - hope the headache is gone!

Wendy - love the P90 review - I've wondered about that one - sticking with Cathe now - but great to hear about the others out there:)

Erin - thanks for sharing about the Tony H. interview - very interesting - love what he said too. :)

Wiggie - I'm so glad this board is as motivating for you as it is for me - if I don't feel like exercising, I think... 'man, I'm going to have to post that'... and it gives me that little extra push - You are doing awesome! :)

Hi Terina!

Hi Barbara!

Hope you all have a great night:)

Kris

another busy day

Hello Ladies,
another quick and late nite check in.
Sorry I hope you dont think im being rude but I'll be back to chit chat with everyone:eek:

I worked out early this morning(5am) and kept thinking I need to check in.

I did cardio supersets, wow!!! another great workout!!! Cathe never disapoints!

Good Morning!

Today was Total Body Tri Sets: Express U/B premix (20 min) + 12 mins of jump rope intervals (18 rounds of 10 rest/30 work). :)

My lower body still hurts. The left side in particular.

Kris:: Glad you found the review helpful...for future use. ;) Got a taste of TBT today and liked it. Sounds like it gave you some pretty awesome DOMS. Makes me even more excited to try a longer work out with it!

Terina:: Upon a little preview of CSS I was disappointed in it but after doing a premix of it, I have to say too that it's an awesome work out!!! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

Morning BodyRockers!

This morning I survived 4DS: BC Cardio (substituting abs for the stretch) + 25minutes of Yoga Max. I was hoping to give Yoga Max a more thorough try, but I just plum ran out of time. I know this sounds crazy, but yoga makes me feel weak. Maybe it is just where I haven't done yoga in so long by body is no longer conditioned for the slow, "hold for a lifetime" moves.

Wendy: Great workout this morning! I'm really liking TBT (both upper and lower). The balance challenges in TBT UB are tough but fun! They had a whole new dimension to strength training. Fun stuff! I hope your LB DOMS start disappearing soon. Just in time for NEW DOMS right?? :p ;)

Terina: Great job with CSS. I didn't particularly care for that one BUT with that said i'm going to give it another shot this weekend. Sometimes first impressions aren't always what they seem, right? ;) No worries about not being able to check in much. We know you are busy and just enjoy hearing from you when you can!

Kris: Yay for DOMS! Is it weird that i'm excited about DOMS? :p I'm not going to lie...at one point I almost hit the floor during the one leg squat/cross over thing. It probably didn't help that I was laughing out loud at myself the entire time - made it kinda hard to find my balance. I'd love it if you did the December rotation too! It is intended to be a total butt kicker. I must admit this is only the 2nd rotation i've actually put together myself, so I apologize if the rotation completely sucks. :D

Bridget: YES YES YES! You should definitely do a Terminator workout this weekend. I don't know why I love those workouts so much. Maybe it's because when I get finished I can say "damn, I did good." :D :p I have to admit I enjoy my tv time, but I usually watch 5-7 hours max a WEEK, not a day. Well, except on Sundays. My tv is on all day Sunday to NFL football, but i'm not usually sitting on the couch watching..I just listen to the games while I clean, cook, do laundry, etc.

wendy I think i am going to ask for it for xmas...lol i such a fitness geek;) If i had the room in this small apt i would totally have the dip station! Enjoy girl=)
krislet make a deal for p90 after new years...what ya say:cool:
ricklyk1/B] I find she holds that pose in yoga max for awhile. I always feel weak during yoga. I think its a whole other type of strength and flexablity! I sure did enjoy it though..did u?
Morning ladies:D Just finished yoga max..lLOVE IT! Now I feel just how tight i am and feel i got a good yoga class in! I dont like yoga cd's find the classes themselves always are better. But cathe amazed me again! I just know though that i had never done yoga before i might have not got as much out of it. She may need to do a beginers yoga too=) I work tomorrow:( I am about to go back my cooler in a min. Saturday is gonna be date night and i am looking forward to that too. k have a great one everyone

Hello friends
Step Pump Jump this afternoon after work- did a half day. Haven't done it in a long time, and I was impressed by how easy the step portion was, how I was able to perform the high impact stuff, but still suffer during the static lunges. A whopping 12 activity points earned, getting into top shape for the upcoming holidays.

Called the Y and signed up for spinning tomorrow morning...

Erin- I believe Tony Horton is from my neck of the woods here- from Westerly RI- which is the next town up from us. Can't say I've seen his fit self around town.

Katie- I'm torn between IMAX extreme & the gauntlet for Saturday- which do you like?

Kris- As much as I like DOMS, I often fear the lower body variety- that make walking difficult. I probably need more lower body work.

Wendy- mmm- the trisets are tough, I enjoy them too. Sounds like a great workout

Terena- I like working out at 5am too- gets it out of the way for the rest of the day

Hi Kiki & Barb

Bridget

Thrusday nite check in

Tomorrow is friday and I got the day off!!!!:D

Today I did LIS-Low Impact challenge-express workout #1.
It was one of those morning were I JUST DIDNT FEEL IT,but I went on youtube and watched some videos and got motivated. I had to get workout done while grandson took his nap so it had to be a short one. Im SO glad I got it done this morning.

Ricklyk1-AB is a tuffy, I always wonder how long did the girls train for that workout!!!

Wendy-I can't believe how fast that trip went by.

Wiggie & Kris-Hi!!!
Erin-Thank you :D

Kiki-Im decided to do the LIS only rotation,im on the 3rd day  now I just need to get that darn eating under control:mad::(
Bridgit-leaf peeping? what time do you wake up?

Yay for Friday! No work today because of Veteran's Day so I decided to spend the day with my 15 month old nephew. While he napped, I gave Cardio Supersets another shot. For the most part I still stand by my original assessment. The workout is LOTS of fun and time flew by, but I wish it was just a wee bit more intense (because of its short length). Yes, I know i'm crazy. There are a few moves that really get me though (push-ups with arm lift, leg out to the side/burpee combo, etc.). Ya know, maybe it's a good thing this one isn't a total killer. It's good to change up the intensity and duration of workouts right? So maybe i'm bitching for no reason (no surprise there, just ask DH). :D :p

I did end up adding on the bonus step segment and it definitely helped add that extra intensity I was looking for. Because I was at my sister's house though, I didn't have my normal step, so I improvised by using my 5 year old nephew's step stool (the one he uses to reach the bathroom sink to wash his hands). I only fell off once. :D Mission accomplished. :p

Terina: Did you enjoy your day off? Great job pushing through LIC when you weren't 100% feeling the workout. Now THAT's true dedication. :)

Bridget: WTG with SJP! Isn't it a great feeling when a workout (or portion thereof) was so hard before and now it's like, "wow, I can do this"! :) What would you rather focus on Saturday - cardio or cardio/weights? Imax Extreme is 95% cardio with only the short compound weight segments from C&W (which I usually leave out). The Gauntlet has more of a circuit with feel because it rotates between cardio, lower body, compound, upper body, and cardio (or something like that, I can't remember exactly). I really like Gauntlet, so I would vote for that one. :)

Erin: I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels weak during yoga. ;) I really liked Yoga Max. I think I might actually like it better than Yoga Relax, but i've only done a portion of each. I need to take a day and do each one in full. Enjoy date night!!

Katie

Hello All!! Just got back from a 2 day trauma symposium. I always enjoy them, we learn alot & eat a lot. Most of the food was pretty healthy. I went with several of my co-workers.

My workout Tues was M2D14 legs, Wed was Fire 30 & Thur was LIC & Fire 30. No workout this evening, working a volleyball & a basketball game tonight.

BBL or tomorrow

Have a great evening!!!

Hello Friends!

Checking in from work- hoping it stays quiet for the last hour.
Went spinning this morning- had a good sweat- my daughter doesn't have school for Veterans Day.

Katie- Yes, perhaps it will be the Gauntlet tomorrow! Will let you know how I survive, and I agree. There is nothing better than defeating a workout that once had me when I wasn't as fit.

Wiggie- you must be a nurse, discussing trauma and food in the same sentence.

Terena- I live in New England, tourists come here in the Fall to look at the Fall foliage, or "leaf peeping" It really is spectacular, and I totally take it for granted. My alarm goes off at 4:40am. On spinning days, I sleep in my spin clothes to save time- class starts at 5:15, and it takes 5 minutes to drive there.

Hope everyone else is enjoying their Veterans Day

Bridget

Cathe kicked my butt,yet again.

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!!!:D If you or your spouse has or is serving I would like to say "THANK YOU FOR SERVING OUR COUNTRY!!!!!!":D

OK,Today I did TBTSLB & YOGA RELAX.
I really liked lower body,it was tuff!!!! those one legged squats are Killa!!!!

I have to say I like the music in this workout. I'm from the 80's the big hair band era, was cool with the guitar music it brought back memories!!!!

ricklyk1- Today was great!!! slept in,got my workout in and now its all about chilling out :D
Great job on working out at your sisters,no excuses!!!:D

wiggie-Enjoy your friday nite!!!!
