Step Blast Challenge - HIIT?

Cathlete
Hi all,

Would you consider the Challenge part of Step Blast HIIT? I'm finding that Imax 3 is a bit too much for my knees right now, but the SB Challenge is doable. I was thinking of doing the Challenge twice through for a HIIT day. What do you think? Any other suggestions? Other than buying Imax 2 or 1 - I am on a buying hiatus for awhile!

I defintely count it as HIIT. As Cathe says, it's a "blast challenge". It definitely gets my heart rate right up there.

I agree the blasts are high intensity and get your heart rate but I don't think that doing Step Blast just once would give the equivalent intensity workout to an IMAX. The number of blasts is much fewer and the length is shorter. However repeating the blasts would be more like it and if you are unable to do IMAXs at the moment then it would be a good option/

Hmmmm...... it probably is HIIT. And it's a fun one!! Much better on the knees than those IMAX 3 jumps!

If you have FitTv and a dvr you can record different Cathe workouts and fast forward through the commercials. This will help until your buying hiatus over.

Unfortunately, no FitTV in the UK!:-(

OK, I did the 'Step Blast Double Challenge' this morning. Wow - so much fun! I programmed the Workout Blender w/ WU, Challenge, Challenge, CD/Stretch. The whole workout was about 40 minutes. I really enjoyed it, was able to really push myself on the blasts, and had much less dread than doing an Imax3 premix, even though those are shorter. Try it, you'll like it! :)

Hi Stephanie,
Just wanted to say as I am also a "UK-er" (live near Bristol). Nice to see another "local" gal here!
(I also wish we had "The Cathe Channel")!!;-)

Hi Kaz & Ruth! Nice to 'meet' you. :)

Stephanie, I DID try it! What a great idea. I wanted a little longer work out so I did "Step Blast Triple Challenge". to help with the boredom factor, I challenged myself to do the routine w/ no mistakes, but wasn't up to it!!

I wanted to do an interval workout today, but was not quite up to an Imax. I remembered reading this suggestion so decided to give it a whirl. It was exactly what I had in mind, and more intense than I thought it would be. Thanks for suggesting it!:)
