speaking of honey crisp apples

Well I finally found these apples at my local king store. After hearing all the talk about how great these were. I had one just a little while ago and they are really good:). The only complaint I have is how expensive they are. It was $3.99lb. I guess this is a good time now here in NJ to get them.

Barbara, aren't they AWESOME? I have not seen any here in Texas yet but keeping fingers crossed they will be here SOON! :)

They are sooooo yummy...and expensive. I splurge on them because they are only available this time of year.

Ummmm Barbara? Is that the Kings on Morris Ave? B/c I'm going there tomorrow night & I think you just shot my diet all to he!!..........;):D

OMG I am obsessed with these apples! I'm an apple nut anyway- I MUST eat one everyday. But when fall hits, I buy honey crisp apples in bags of 10 or more- the bigger the better! Sometimes I even eat two a day.

No Laura, I went to the one in Berkeley Heights Springfield Ave., but I am sure your Kings carry them.

I have seen them at HEB and Whole Foods (Houston area). They are the only apples I eat this time of year. YUM!

Laura--you wacko:p--how can an apple ruin your diet? Are you doing low-carb again?

<sigh> Yes Allie. Seems if I stay low carb I won't gain weight. I don't lose, but I don't gain. As soon as I go off that miserable diet I gain 2-3 lbs A DAY! How insane is that? (BTW, I sent you a PM, either you're ignoring me or you don't check your PMs ;))

Barbara, I'm sure you're right. That Short Hills Kings has everything on earth. It is the carnival of grocery stores! :p

I eat one everyday too! I'm in Michigan. At our Meijer this week they are $1.79/pound - cheaper than our usual Red Delicious. I've been buying them buy the bagful. They are so yummy! Laura, You have GOT to try one!

ITA about these apples!!!

I'm a Michigan girl too and we have a local orchard that grows and sell them... I eat at least 1 ( sometimes 2) a day when they are in season.

By the way, the growing season on these seems to be shorter than other apples, so get 'em while you can!!

Take care, Lynn

Whoooooooo! I'll be near a Whole Foods on Saturday in Plano (Dallas suburb.) I will for sure go over there and see if they are in stock. Thanks for the tip!!

I live in upstate NY and we have been seeing them for about a month now. At first they were $1.99 a lb. at my local small grocery--everything is more expensive there. It is a mom and pop store but very good quality. Today I bought them for $.99 a lb. at our local produce center. The other ones I like are McCouns. You only see them at the start of apple season and then they are gone.

I love them!! They were $2.99 at Kroger y'day and I thought that was atrocious!! They are sooo good though and HUGE!

Mid-Michigan girl also. I just picked some up at the Meijer but here is the terrible thing - I didn't check the price!! I can't keep these in my house so I just started grabbin and baggin.

However before that I stopped at the local orchard and got two gallons of cider and caramel apples AND donuts for the week-end . . . .*sigh*
