Sometimes you just gotta laugh.....

I'm going to share this with you because only those of us "on the same page" could appreciate the irony!
one (1) month ago, slightly before Thanksgiving, I purchased my Christmas outfit 1 size smaller, to give me the extra incentive to really push myself, and stay on track during the holiday season. Well, the past 2 weeks I've been a little worried that with the scale not being too kind to me that I wouldn't make it into the outfit, but I kept holding on to the comments from you guys that the scale didn't matter, I might be losing inches, etc.
So last night, I bit the bullet, figured I'd better try it on now because if it didn't fit on Saturday, it wouldn't fit in 3 days on Tuesday, and wouldn't you know it.....
It was too *@#% big! :)
All I could do was laugh :)
You guys were right as usual, forget the numbers, they obviously don't tell the whole story!
Happy Holidays, Donna

Donna,

Finally, a great reason for not having anything to wear...everything is too big!!!

Congratulations on your accomplishment.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-24-01 AT 05:31AM (Est)[p]You go girl!!! What a great feeling, and you did it during the worth eating time of the year!!! There's nothing like fitting into little clothes... it makes it all worth while. When I head for the closet I know everything will fit, and it's just great. Bravo! http://plaudersmilies.de/bounce/1blue1.gif

you know what that means...

...time to treat yourself to a new outfit for christmas!!! You deserve it!!! Good for you Donna! Who needs a scale anyway???

Merry Christmas!!!!!!

This is an awesome tale! ha ha! I unfortunately went the other way! I have an incredible dress to wear New Year's Eve that was actually purchased a year ago. I was able to wear the size 6 skirt 2 months ago, however, last week I could not! I immediately started on a fat loss rotation & will try it on again in a day or two. I've been working VERY hard & eating better, so I'm hoping with my fingers crossed.

Donna, I am so happy for you!

Deborah

. . . and then other times you just gotta cheer!

Congrats, Donna! I love your posts! What a wonderful story, especially during the food- and stress-soaked holidays!

Keep on keepin' on . . .

Donna, lots of kudos to you!! Now, tell me, are you saying that you went down approx. 2 sizes in 1 month?? Please, PUL-LEEEEZE tell me how!! What rotation/exercise did you do and any special diet????? Thanks in advance!!! Robin.

Donna: YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good for you! I've been away from my computer for awhile and just saw this post! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
We'll get there!!!!!

Best of everything to you!

Hi Robin, thanks for your kind words, and here's the rotation I've done since Thanksgiving:
mon: (45-60min)cardio/PS BBA
tue: (45-60min)kickbox cardio/PS CST
wed: PS L&A
thu: (45-60min)cardio/PS BBA
fri: (45-60min)cardio/PS CST
sat: Cardio Kicks
sun: 30min. stretch (Denise Austin Stretch & Flex)

* for the 45-60min cardio I've been doing only hi/lo videos due to a healing left foot*

As for diet, I've been trying a suggestion from someone on this forum for the past 6 weeks and it seems to be working well for me.
I take 1600 calories/day multiplied by 7= 11,200 calories/week and I spend the calories daily over the 7 day period as needed, so on some days I may only eat 1400 calories, where on another, such as tuesdays when I do the kickboxing and weights and my appetite may be higher, I may eat 1800 calories that day. But each day I stay within 20-25% for my overall fat gram intake. By the end of the week, I'm usually right on target within 30 calories or so, usually falling at around 11,150-11,185 for the week. The theory was that by not strictly maintaining exactly 1500 or 1600 calories a day, my metabolism would be tricked into working all the time because it didn't know how much I was eating that day so it burned consistently. Also, I eat 4-5x/day rather than 3 meals, and I eat as many high fiber foods as I can each day, striving for no less than 30grams/day.
So, what in this concoction works I don't know? Maybe it's the whole overall routine? Maybe it's the workouts alone? I don't know, but I know I have an outfit that I just skipped right past, but hey, I can handle that disappointment :) An outfit being too big is the kind of disappointment I like, heck, I don't even mind the wasted money :)
Hope this helps, Donna

Thanks so much, Donna! I've copied your post and put it in my "successful rotations" folder. (Yes, I have one. *embarrassed*). If I'm not pregnant by Feb, this is the next rotation I'll be on. I looks VERY TOUGH!! Love it. If I am pregnant, this is the perfect "get back in shape FAST" rotation. If you don't mind, I'd like to share this with some friends over on the Firm forum! You're results are too incredible to keep to myself!!!!!!!

Thanks again. Robin.

Please share it with whomever, I'm always looking for something different, something that works for someone else, hoping it may work for me. And I too have a "successful rotations" folder of rotations I copy from this site from the "veterans" on the forum. I've got one or two I'm saving for the day I hit my "last 25lbs" plateau. It's quite a ways off, but I'm squirreling away "plateau buster" rotations for future use! :)
Donna

Donna, I love it when that happens! You are so awesome!

The trick to the plateau buster is in the revamping of how you do your exercises. If you are emphasizing strength work, emphasize cardio. Using heavy weights and fewer reps? Switch to lighter weights and more reps. Alternate days of cardio and strength for a week, then switch to circuit trainig for a week. There are sooooooo many ways to mix it up. Always keep those muscles guessing. And be sure to stretch for the benefits of flexibility and the calming effect on the mind!

Be sure to let us know what works for you.

Happy New Year!

Bobbi
