So, when do YOU de-Christmas?

I LOVE putting up my tree and I love the peace and happiness it brings me. Then comes the parties, the lunches, the brownies, cakes, cookies and egg nog. And I spend approximately three weeks running around with either a sugar high or a sugar hangover, and I'm bloated and irritable... I do love Christmas morning and watching the kids and such. Then there is one more high fat, high calorie meal, then I'm dying to go back to simple meals and reclaim my house. So the tree is coming down this weekend.

Karla - my DD14's birthday is tomorrow (Happy Birthday by the way!), and she shared your pain. I have to admit, I never thought of taking down the tree to seperate Christmas from DD14's birthday. I like that idea. You had a great mom!

I still have some decorations up, but my tree came down on Wednesday. It looked PITIFUL. The cats just would NOT leave it alone this year and I couldn't stand to look at it another minute. The rest of our decorations will come down this weekend.

On a funny note, in 2003, I was finishing my bachelor's degree thru a degree completion program. They just pushed you to the limits with homework and a thesis. I was exhausted. I swear to you I think it was March before the tree came down because I was just too busy to do anything with it and no one else bothered with it either. Quite funny.

Usually after the new year but I am so ready to take it down and get the house back in order. We still have one more Christmas party Sat. Our bun hasen't been able to roam around the house because of the extra cords.

I took the tree and decorations down yesterday. I asked the kids and they didn't care. We have a small house and the tree just takes up so much room in the living room. Also because it was a real tree and had been up awhile it was getting really dry and shedding tons. I start to worry about the fire hazard. Once the tree is down I figured the other stuff might as well go as well. Kim

I'm a Clutteraphobe, and it's KILLING me to have all this laying around. BUT....I have to admit to some feelings of guilt of wanting to take the tree down. lol I'm waiting till after New Year's Day, as I do every year. The tree's been up since Black Friday and it's leaving pine needles ALL OVER my house, but I can hang in for another 3 days, I think!

We never take the tree down before New's year. Then again, I rarely get it up more than a week or two before Christmas so even when New's Years comes I'm not tired of it. I think I could leave the tree up all year if I had the room. I could enjoy the lighted garland all year long too. Guess I just love colored lights, LOL. I keep out a Navity set until after Jan. 6 (the Epiphany). Use to try to keep the tree up until then (artificial - real would dried out too much), but DH doesn't want it up that long.

Isn't it funny - I LOVE the decorations too. In fact I don't even blink at them up until Christmas Day, but then - ugh - all the clutter! But for those liking the color and joy they bring to an otherwise dreary time of year (and gray is the absolute color of choice for Cleveland winters) wanna' little piece of good news? Starting last Saturday the daylight hours began to get longer!!! :) :) :) Yippee!!

>>There will be Valentine's what-not in the grocery stores next week, no doubt.

I just got back from the grocery store. The Valentine's candy is already out!

Oh, I've been counting the days! I so hate going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark!

Mine's all down! Yay! I started immediately after my DD went to her dad's last night:p I love having my family room back.

January 2.. we put the tree up about 2 weeks before Christmas.
Anything longer than that and it's just not special anymore (IMO).:)

Today - which is late for me. Usually I have it all down on the 26th or 27th. My DH calls me Scrooge but I want to start the New Year with a clean slate.

DH takes down the outside stuff tomorrow - should take all of 45 minutes.

I now have my snowflake candles out for January.
