Signing off, sorry, I had fun here.

Cathlete
I have long preached that more males should get involved with Cathe's videos, and I still feel that way. What I am having a problem wrapping my hands around is the fact that Cathe and her company seem to treat males as an afterthought when it comes to her workouts, rather than trying to bring more in.

There was an issue here a while ago where another male poster felt strongly about males being left out of the mission statement of the company, and I remember responding to him and saying he should remain on the boards, anyone can make a mistake.

Well, in my opinion, Cathe made mistake #2 when on the STS FAQ she barely even recognizes a male may want to do these workouts. I understand 100% that Cathe's target audience is/are females, but to again, in my opinion, alienate the males who do use her products and would like to know more about a program is just plain wrong.

If you like, read the STS FAQ and if you can honestly say that the male population is being well-respected, I salute you, I can't do that, and I don't need to be where I'm not wanted.

Jerry,
I really enjoy your posts and love having you here, however I just re-read the STS FAQs and I don't see what you're speaking of. I don't see where Cathe mentions either women OR men. She was merely explaining the upcoming series. Please let me know if I have missed something.

Jerry, I've looked at the FAQ twice and can't see what has you feeling leftout. Almost all the references are to "people" and "exercisers." The only thing I found that mentioned women was the question about bulking up, which is a FAQ of many women. Did I misread something? Did you misread something?

I know you have worked out with Cathe at the Four Seasons several times. Did she ever give you the feeling she had less than the most respect for you?

I've enjoyed your posts and would hate to see you leave.

I don't understand...why do you think it is targeted for females? If anything, I think STS is desigend for all types of persons, no matter the gender, more so then ANY other workout in the past because of the 1Rep method. Yes, Cathe is including males in this series too. Just curious why you are thinking this way???

I'm lost. I thought one of the big points she has been making with this new series is that there will be men involved? They even did a nationwide search to find men to be on the DVD's. Did I miss something?

Sorry that you feel the way you do Jerry. I may not agree with you, but I respect your opinion. Just one thought...have you ever emailed/PM'd Cathe directly? Cathe seems quite fair to me from her forum responses over the years...I can't imagine that she intends to make you feel this way. I am sure she would welcome your comments/opinions and try to help. Just a thought. :)

Jerry, are you referring to this FAQ?

#5 Will STS bulk me up?

STS is not a system that will bulk individuals. Perhaps the oldest myth in weightlifting is that lifting heavy weights will cause females to bulk. Women just don’t naturally have enough testosterone in their bodies to develop huge massive muscles. I can tell you from my our personal experience and from observing nearly a 1000 people each day using our health club in NJ for the last 20 years that heavy lifting only improves a women’s physique. Building muscle takes a huge amount of effort with no room to do much else than focus on lifting hard and heavy and eating constantly to support muscle growth. It is just not that easy to build bulk even for a male....or for those who are predisposed to this genetically.
STS will enhance muscle definition, increase lean muscle density, reduce overall body fat, increase your metabolism, and improve your overall energy, health, and vitality. If you’re a female and want to look your best –YOU NEED TO LIFT HEAVY WEIGHTS!

If you are, please keep in mind that FAQ stands for Frequently Asked Questions. Since this is primarily a female board, it seems she was responding to a concern that most women have. Maybe you could ask on STS what results you can expect as a man? I don't see that question posted at all!

Jerry,
I really hope you'll reconsider! I'm one of the MANY folks who always enjoy your posts and the others from the "men's dept." I truly believe that the STS FAQs were intended to address frequent concerns of Cathe's customer's base which you yourself admit is women. I also believe with STS, SNM is actually trying to reach out to more men since many men don't like working out with home videos.

I also wanted to say I'm sorry about your recent diagonis of spinal stenosis and wish you the best of luck finding exercise routines that you can work with. I hope you'll be back among us soon.

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

Well, I feel left out in P90X. It is really geared towards men, in my humble opinion.

But I still love P90X. It is what the workout does for you and should not be gender specific.

Cathe has been an innovative and non partial instructor from the get-go. In fact, her first Step Video featured a man in the cast. And that was in 1989.

And when did Cathe or Chris or anybody at Cathe dot Com say you were not wanted?

Cathe is great with men. She had my husband doing Body Pump on a roadtrip long ago.....and that really amazed me!

Oh come on Jerry. You have to be joking, right? You are the one who has driven great distances just to work with Cathe in person. Why would you be offended? In my opinion, because STS is sort of a "guy-like" workout, she is probably trying to justify why women would and should buy it. My husband works out with me 6 days a week and we do a lot of Cathe workouts. He can't wait for STS. Please think about this. We'll miss ya,

Clarissa

Jerry,

I have truly enjoyed all of your posts as well. Believe it or not, you have been very instrumental in motivating me. I loved hearing your stories about going to workout with Cathe live. I'm sorry that you feel offended. This makes me sad.

Goodbye,
Jennifer
