Shovel Max Advanced Version Out Now

We are getting ice here in Jersey so we've traded in our shovels for ice skates, ice picks and salt for today...

will try to post some pics of the white stuff. My car is buried. Thank GOD, I've been working out cause it will be one heck of one trying to dig out.

I'm getting ready to do round 1. Weather.com says we have 12 inches and it's still coming down. Looking out the window, it looks like more than that, but it's all blowing and drifting.

They actually let us out of work early last night and closed today. That, never, ever, ever happens. Normally it's "get here when you get here, but make sure you're on time" School's closed and daycare has a late start, but DS will be home with me, no sense in taking him to daycare if I'm home. DH has to go plow. Hopefully, he can get to where he needs to be. I don't really want him out, but that's his job.

My abs and lats are still sore from all Mondays push ups, so the shoveling ought to be fun!

Thankfully, today, I have no pressure to get into work. Many busineses and all schools are closed today here.

Us too. No school. I called in to work to say No, Thank you! Even DH is home but probably regretting it since everyone else is home too and his work network is painfully slow.

I think we'll wait to begin today's round of ShovelMax. In preparation for the next storm expected on Saturday.....*weeps*.

We've got snow, ice, rain... and the mixture is NASTY! Biggest problem is that there is already about 4 feet of snow on the ground so now that it's raining the water just has nowhere to go! So, now we've got flooding, roof collapse issues, accedents.

Anyone have a rowboat I can use to get home from work? Actually, i think it needs to be half row boat, half snow mobile.

Be safe, Jenn. Sounds horrible. A neighbor took care of my driveway tonight so I can get to the road but will get stuck on it.

I'm in Texas and we NEVER get this cold for this long! I am spending my 2nd night at work (in a hospital) because I can't get home due to the ice (I live about 6 miles off the main road in a hilly, bridge-filled area and the roads are like sheets of glass! Looking at the weather reports, I won't be getting home until Saturday afternoon.
I'll trade some snow-shoveling for nights in my own bed, with my own kids (who think this is a great adventure!) I need a work out desperately, anyway. (Wish I had my Travel Fit with me....)
I want to go home!!!

that is truly horrible. I heard about the ice in TX and not much road services can do about it. I use a calicum chloride that gets rid of ice and snow but its quite expensive.
hope you get home soon.

Did round 3 this morning. We ended up with I'd say 12-14 inches and huge drifts. I did 1st shovel yesterday morning at about 6 am which was probably 10-12 inches. Then it started snowing again.

I went back out just before lunch and did another 2 inches, it had stopped snowing by then.

The plows went by last night, so I did round 3 this morning, re-digging out the end of the driveway and re-shoveling the sidewalks where the plows had tossed snow all over.

I think I'm done now ;) I hope I'm done now :p

This morning, I did a two-hour circuit of spade-and-shovel max, chopping through 2-4 inches of ice on the street in front of my driveway and in my driveway (the snow plow didn't plow my side of the dead-end street once again) then shoveling up the chunks and pieces and hoisting them over a snow drift.

Also got in some 'wood chop' type core work picking up bit chunks of ice (from the ridge of ice the plow left from plowing the other side of the street...but not mine) and tossing them over the same snow drift.

the other day, my neigher snow-blowered my driveway out. tonight, the city plans to finish clearing the streets so I will be once again blocked in. not enough room to put all of the snow.
