Shin Splint

I am having lower leg pain, medial, and on the anterior side of my shin. Could this be a shin splint? I have started doing more kickboxing, drill type dvds where as before I only did step. I also wore higher heel flip flops for multiple nights last week when I don't do that normally either. Has anyone ever had a shin splint and any advice on how to treat it? I am doing the 6 1/2month rotation of STS and this is my rest week after Meso 1. Any advice would be appreciated! Why does it always seem when you really begin to notice change you get injured!!???

I had the same pain when I started kickboxing for the first time. I'm fine with it now, but I take care to have good shoes on, and I had a floor put in to help with the pounding since it was concrete.

I used to get shin splints from walking and running. This would happen to me when I needed to get a new pair of running shoes. It was very painful and aggravating. Once I would get the new shoes the problem would go away. Make sure that you are wearing the right shoe for your foot type. I know my situation was not exactly the same, but I hope this helps. Ice and ibuprofen.
I get horrible shinsplints when starting to run. Last fall I was convinced I had stress fractures.
Runner's World has some great stretches and exercises which have helped.
Good luck!
