Sheer pantyhose or bare legs?

I am trying to figure out who started the "war" among women over whether or not to wear pantyhose.

What happened to wearing what we like and feel good wearing and feel like makes us look our best?

AMEN! Why should it matter if I want to or don't want to wear hose? Sometimes I LIKE to wear hose as my blue tinted legs look crappy and every spray tan, fake tan or tinted junk looks streaky and crappy on my legs.

I don't think there is a war about it. I think as women, we all have our fashion preferences and it's fun to talk about it. Nothing wrong with sharing opinions! :)

I would choose the hose simply because I can't handle heels without them! I don't know why but my feet hurt even more and faster when they are bare in heels as opposed to when I have hose on.

When you shop for pumps, a good sales person fitting you will ask if you are going to wear the shoes with or without hose. Size down for hose, size up without hose(unless it's patent leather-stretches with wear). It really makes a difference!

The fashion Gods.:D:p:eek:

I worked retail back when hose were considered a must with dress clothing. If you didn't wear hose, you were not properly dressed.
sigh....I'm old.

I buy cheap heels. Rarley willing to spend more the $20 on a pair so I NEVER have a sales person. Always shopping in the "help yourself"/clearance areas. :p Thank you for the advice though! I will keep it in mind for my next purchase! :)

I am with you. I love hearing other peoples opinions on anything whether its pantyhose or politics :)

I wore a casual skirt without pantyhose or stockings for the first time last year and I felt - odd. I'm also in my late 40's and don't think I have nice legs :( It's all about what is comfortable for you, and everyone will have an opinion on this one :) Since I don't wear peep-toes/open toes/sandals to work because our female VP doesn't approve of them either, I'm in pumps and hose all the time when dressed up. Even in the middle of a FL summer, ugh.

I think your situation warrants pantyhose out of necessity. It sounds as if your work place demands more of a hose and pumps look.

What I can't fathom is wearing them in hot, humid weather in a bascially casual setting. I was in San Antonio in September. I don't think I've endured a hotter climate anywhere, than SA was that particular weekend. The heat index was well above 115 degrees, and of course we were outside on the Riverwalk all day. My friend who was with me insisted she couldn't wear a skirt without hose and spanx. I thought she was going to pass out a few times she got so hot. I was wearing a short sundress with sandals. All I had on underneath was my underwear. Pantyhose were definitely not on my agenda!

That said, I don't wear pantyhose to formal events either... weddings, nice dinners out.... I just don't wear them. If it's too cold to be bare legged, I'll wear pants or dressy boots with my dress. It's rarely too cold for me to go with bare legs though, as I live in the south.

I'm up North and I love wearing skirts, I even wear them when I xc ski :D. I wear leggings with my skirts and colored tights with patterns which are popular during the winter scenario in Minneapolis along with boots, all kinds of boots! I'm embarrassed to even admit how many *types* of boots I own, all the way to my coveted Lake mountainbike boots....haha! I completely agree that weather has a lot to do with it too.

I'm a shoe hound myself. I can't tell you how many boots I bought this winter!:eek:

Tights have replaced pantyhose, so for cold weather tights are considered the "in" thing.:D

I love boots with tights, too! :p I agree, very on-trend right now. Especially when you're living in a colder climate.

Love my boots also and truly believe one can never have too many boots!! I even have a pair of mules that look like cowboy boots :p

Tights are my mainstay all winter with skirts, dresses, etc. I agree that they have replaced pantyhose.

I can do better! I own an ACTUAL pair of COWBOY BOOTS! :D

Me too! I found them in my closet the other day. They were my mom's from the country craze in the 70's. I saw them up there on the top shelf and thought, "How have I not been wearing these????"

Oh, and I recently wore hose on Christmas. I had a red dress and nude patent pumps, and I wanted to be warm. So, I wore patterned nude hose. I decent compromise, I thought ;)

Oh I own and wear several pairs of cowboy boots! I have a horse, so they are a must have.

The mules are for when I want the look, but want to slip the "boots" on/off more quickly. Plus they were adorable!

Come to think of it, I used to own 2 pairs of mules that looked like cowboy boots as well! :D
