Runners Check-in Sun May 28

And just wanted to say that I added some more new pics to my picture trail, link below if you're interested!!

Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome! :) What a great group this is! I think, though, it may take me a while to get the hang of who's who and who's doing what.

I am curious as to how the cheetah name came about (sorry if that's a frequent question among newbies).

My screen name doesn't have anything to do with actual guns...(it didn't even occur to me that someone might read it that way)...it's just that I want to develop guns! *lol* Well, some feminine guns at any rate! I have been so impressed by all the before/after pics people have posted here. I hope I can get as buff as some of the folks here!

I did get in MM...boy, that one spanks my behind...and that's with breaks! I also promptly ordered my next four DVDs: Imax2, Slow & Heavy, Core Max, and Kick, Punch, Crunch.

The 7:24 and 8:00 minute miles are AWESOME! Way to go, ladies! Congrats to all who raced today. It definitely is a hot one out there. I'm a teacher and school doesn't let out for us until the 20th, so on my run today, I was just thinking about how I'll need to either get up at the butt-crack of dawn or run later. The 4 pm after-school runs would be murder in this weather!

Well, I have to get ready for a wedding. Unusual, I thought, for it to be on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. But anyway, lookin' forward to future "chats!"

Jess- great pictures. I really need to get around and do mine again adding in my girls and dh. Love the transformation. You look great and the hard work shows.

Cathy- Your going to love Imax 2 and slow and heavy and all the other ones. My favorite of all time is slow and heavy and Imax 2. Hope you have fun at the wedding.

Thanks so much, Karen! I love your pics too, you look great! I have people ask me for before shots so I figured I'd dig some out. Embarrassing to see myself like that, but I'm just thankful that I don't look like the same person anymore! And thanks to Cathe I'm developing strength & definition like I've never had before!! I really want to get Slow & heavy too, I have too many DVD's on my wish list now! ;-)

Hugs,

Don't worry, I'm still learning everyone's name & info too! The cheetah name is for us *cheetah fast* runners, I guess! Sorry, I can't remember who started it, but I think it's stuck now! ;-)

I'm looking to develop my *guns* more too. Thanks to Cathe I'm really seeing more & more definition!

Enjoy your new DVD's!! I'm jealous!

It's getting hotter in the afternoons here too, I'm definitely going to have to get back to early 5:30AM runs!

It is strange for a wedding today- hope you had a good time! I have a wedding to go to next Sat for a good friend from HS & am looking forward to it!

Hugs,

Jess, you have to get slow and heavy. Move that to the top of the list. That is one series I personaly can't do without. I won't be using it until after I finish training for the half in Oct but as soon as that is over I'm going to go back and use that in a rotation again. I think for now I am going for the pymarids, gym style and total body.

I know all about before pics. It's good to keep them around to remind us where we have been and how far we have come.

Thanks for the recommendation! It sounds like a good one from what everyone here has said! I'm going to be marathon training for late Sept also, so should I hold out on it til after that? I'm not looking to build a ton of muscle, just defining what I have. Suggestions??? I'm open for them!! Thanks!

I would hold out on slow and heavy until then. It will make a great Christmas present. I find that the gymstyle workouts are great for defining. I also like the pymarids for the same purpose. For total body workouts I love ME and MM. They will define as well. A great leg definer is Legs and glutes or you can use the the ball portion of either gymstyle legs or PLB. the above workouts are priceless that I have come to find mixing them with running.

Hey Skinny and Tan Jess....beautiful pics! You sure have some cute little girls! I'm having a family gathering also, sounds like you're having a great weekend. Have fun with your run tomorrow!

Karen- It can be incredibly difficult to run on a sunny day during the summer. The heat really drains you. I think you did very well to get in 10 miles. I try not to be out running later then 0900 this time of year.

Elaine- you rock!!! A 10K under 50:00!!! That's my dream someday. I've come close but never achieved it. As I age I'm afraid it will only remain a dream (sigh)

Carole- 19 miles is "a bit wimpy"? I think we all WISH we were that wimpy!!!

Christine- How nice to see you post! You do sound busy but you sure got in a good workout!

Have a great rest of the weekend everyone...Happy Memorial Day :7

Funny Cathy...when I saw your screen name...I figured it was arms...:)...you ordered some great workouts. Slow & Heavy can get you some guns!!!

Karen and Jess...you 2 have really transformed your bodies!! Hard work has paid off as you both look great!!!

Jess...you little girls are just adorable...:)...I do so love seeing new pics...and about Slow & Heavy...it is also good for strengthening the muscles. Strong leg muscles do help runners and you will find upper body strength will definitely help in a marathon...:)..I do also agree with Karen about the Pyramids.

Karen..heat is tough for running. I know where I live the 100's are coming so I do run earlier...also in the heat you might be inclined to carry some water for 8 miles and over...:)

Thanks Shelly...I didn't really feel wimpy but as we ran a bit faster...it kicked my butt!!

Hi everyone - I know it, I'm way late checking in for the day. But, we were gone from home last night, went to the Twins baseball game and stayed overnight in the Twin Cities, so got home and off to two graduation parties. We just got home now and I wanted to check in quick before we make a fire outside and relax.

Today was a rest day. I would love to do 4 miles tomorrow, but my new shoes aren't quite right yet and three was pushing it on Friday, but maybe I'll do the best I can and see what happens, I might be pleasantly surprised. Otherwise, I have a strength workout tomorrow.

I hope everyone's races went well, I know there were a few of you that had them today. It was 97 degrees here, so there was no way I was going to give running a try outside today.

I'll get caught up with everyone soon and be back in "the loop" :)

Take care - Happy Memorial Day!
