If you have any other choices let me know. Personally I'd recommend the diner--and there are a few great ones in the area--for the true NJ experience.

As long as I can get a vegetarian meal of some sort (besides a platter of french fries), it doesn't matter to me - they all sound great! :D

I agree with my fellow vegetarian, Emily. I also like the idea of a NJ diner to absorb some of the local color. I was in NJ for my first time over New Year's Eve and loved hearing the waitresses refer to youse! :D

Don't forget we'll be eating breakfast on Sunday at a Diner.

Also, we'll be eating at an Italian place on Saturday for lunch (and, of course, pizza for dinner).

Hey everyone,

I am up for anything except Chinese, it makes me sick. Although I voted for the diner...it sounds fun..

I voted for the NJ diner. I've never been to NJ so I want to experience it!

Are we going to Champps for drinks after? Isn't it a bar type place?
:)

Okay, ladies, now that we know the "welcome party" is scheduled for 7:30 and there will be snacks and drinks, are we still planning a Friday night dinner? I assume it would be BEFORE the Welcome Party?

Anyone? Anyone?

I would agree that dinner should before the welcome party-- I'd rather have a good meal to keep me from pigging out on the noshies LOL.

We are doing Italian and the diner thing on Sat/Sunday... so it might be good to try something else for variety? I'm also used to the diner thing having gone to Seton Hall for 4 years and living in Brooklyn-- and waitressing in two of them while unemployed... so I might be biased LOL.

Out of curiosity-- how strict is everyone going to be with their nutritional intake (*ahem*) all weekend? I figure its a fun weekend so while I'm not planning on acting like a complete and total pig-- I'm not going to live on baked vegetables all weekend either LOL... especially if there is a good dessert lying around somewhere....

ETA: I just voted mexican-- I think its the best idea-- ooooooooh fried ice cream...... DOH!

I plan to eat like I normally do. I don't want to pig out, but I'm not going to deny myself either. Heck, we're working out four times in 24 hours. If that doesn't entitle us to a little treat, then I don't know what does!

ukcharlatans - I asked this before but never saw the answer. Is your user name from the band?

OH my God!! I'm so sorry I missed the question the first time-- I think you are the second person EVER to figure that out-- yes it is from the band.

The Charlatans in many ways changed my life. I found them in 2000 when I first really started battling my eating disorder (compulsive over eater-- 250 lbs) and Tim's lyrics just shot through me-- the over riding message to do SOMETHING with yourself, your love, your life... anyway there is a long story there, which I'd love to share next weekend... don't want kill everyone in a huge email. However, I now listen to mostly British rock-- Charlatans, Embrace, Oasis, Supergrass, Blur, Travis, Starsailor etc... I listen to alot of other music too, but that is the bulk of it. Music is a major staying force in my life-- my parents were hippies-- my brother's name is david cause our last name is crosby-- go figure. LOL

As for the food-- I completely agree with you.. 4 workouts in 24 hours-- 6 workouts in 3 days (if you go Friday morning)... I think we may need the extra calories to keep from passing out (oh and then there is the relay races!

That's wonderful! I'd love to hear your story! I'm a huge British music fan as well. Stone Roses, Charlatans, Blur, Happy Mondays. I'm not so fond of Oasis, but it's mostly because the Gallaghers annoy the heck out of me!:p

I agree with my fellow vegetarians too, as long as it's not just a plate of soggy fries. I am vegan. I know I can get a good salad with baked potato at TGI Fridays. I know it'll be boring but I would like to be sure there's something I can eat that I KNOW will be vegan. I'll need to eat well to keep up with all the workouts.

I was going to vote for Mexican, but how good is Mexican food in New Jersey? It sucks in California.

Marla

I voted Mexican since we're having Italian twice on Saturday and we're going to a diner Sunday morning. Plus, we can get Margaritas at a Mexican restaurant, and most diners that I know of don't serve alcohol (if you're so inclined).
