Road Trippers 3/28

Good morning fellow Roadtrippers!

This morning was tough - had to be in the office for a presentation on an 8am meeting, which meant leaving the house at 6:30!!! I hate rush hour traffic and I hate being rushed in the morning, so that was not a good way for me to start the day. Thankfully, I got the coffee set to brew last night, so I didn't have to fuddle around with that, but I didn't get up in time to make breakfast, so I had to leave without.x(

Ah well, seems one meal every day this week has been bad, so after the meeting I got a breakfast sandwich from the deli downstairs. And I got a grapefruit juice. I almost never drink juice. But it was calling my name from the cooler, so I brought it back to my office.:-( x( The rest of the day will be much better, I'm sure. Especially now that the stress of that meeting is over.

I did get to do Leaner Legs }( last night - yowchie after running yesterday morning! Today will be PS CST and maybe a walk or quick run. We'll have to see what time I get home to know for sure.

6Swans4me - Leaner Legs is only similar to Legs & Glutes in that it's a lower body workout. There is no floorwork and lots of squats, lunges, deadlifts, and calf raises. You use a fixed weight barbell (35#) and dumbbells (8 and 10#). It is fast paced and intense, hardly any breaks. It clocks in right at 50 minutes, broken down to 3 min w/u, 33 min legs, 9 min abs, and 4 min c/d. Great when you need a quick leg workout!

Tracy J - Running can be very intimidating. I know it was for me. My title on the YaYa site was "Finally getting over the dread factor with running" for the longest time.:7 I eased my way into it at my own pace, and I know others have had great success with a Couch to 5K training program. You can find one at this URL: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml.

Have a great day everyone!

Tracy (and others who are aspiring runners) - I agree that the Couch to 5k training program is awesome to get started running. I did this a few years ago and it worked very well. I had to stop though because my body seems to reject the impact, especially outdoors. If I had a treadmill at home I would probably try it again. There are actually some free MP3's that you can download for all the various weeks of the program. Here is the link: http://www.ullreys.com/robert/Podcasts/page6/page6.html

Good afternoon everyone! I stole a couple of minutes to check in and have to say that you all sound amazing! I am inspired by you all and am looking forward to meeting you.

?-I've thought about purchasing Gym Style series and wondered how it was, and if it compared to any other workout of Cathe's. I have the Fitv version of pyramid upper body and lower body, muscle max and Cathe's latest series. Is GS like these at all?

I'm eating cleaner, but my workouts are lacking right now.

have a great day

Julia

Hi Everybody! I know, you wondered if I was passed out from IMAX 3, 200 walking lunges and 200 situps!:7 :7 Great workout but believe me I had to sub some things!!!

Carol- I done my bible study homework. I told myself if I wanted to work out every evening then I can do my study also! I can see alot of strength and endurance gains from this Boot Camp rotation. Let me know when you're going to start it.

Mona & Liann - leaner legs is tough. It definitely tells you you worked lower body!!!!

Jennifer, Kim & Kathy - your meal plans look great. If you guys like Kashi breakfast cereals, you should try the Kashi frozen luncheon meals - good stuff!

ShellyC - Hi there! You can say doozy alright! So I see you survived it also!

Carole - I do not like the burpees either. I have a shoulder impingement and it's too much stress on it. I do all the upper body I can - even try push-ups, but to no avail I regret it every time!

Gayle - looks like you had a pretty good workout this morning. You runners are so disciplined I love it!!!

Michelle - HI!!! My manager makes brownies every now and then and they are super good - glad it's every now and then. And it's a good thing I'm not a chocolate lover, I know, I'm weird! LOL

If I missed anybody - sorry! At work and it's sitting here looking at me.

Have a great day - Happy clean eating and Happy working out!

Gayle, Disney was my first marathon too and it was an AWESOME choice! I had SO much fun, even when I was in pain! LOL! And the LLS was such an incredible organization to be a part of. How about that pasta party??? :9 I cried for the last mile of the marathon, I was so ecstatic to be there and to be finishing. People probably thought I was nuts. I was just sobbing and running. :p You can see my Mile 26.1 sobbing picture in my photo album (see siggy). ;)

Hello all!
Today is my rest day and thank goodness. My booty is sore from PLB yesterday. I think I'm going to do a stretchmax segment to try and loosen up. I managed to keep the eating pretty clean yesterday with the exception of 2 twizzlers at work. Today, I've had oatmeal w/ ground flaxseeds, dried cranberries and a sprinkle of walnuts for breakfast. Lunch was a turkey burger on whole wheat with a side of raw broccoli and red + orange peppers. Yummy!!!
I am really impressed with all of you who run marathons and do triathalons and such. I HATE running. I will not run unless:
1. I am playing tennis
2. I am being chased by someone scary
I'd love to do a sprint triathalon, I was an all state swimmer in high school and I can stay upright on a bike, but it's that running thing that gets me. Oh well! I'm thinking of assembling a relay team to do a swim accross long island sound for charity the week before the roadtrip. I just need to find out which of my friends can swim (well). Since I love looking at all of your pictures that you post and putting faces w/ names, I'm putting up my myspace page so you all can see my limited pictures. Be sure to check out the one of my cats, they're way cuter than me! I'm going to try to take some new ones soon to show my progression while doing Cathe workouts.
Have an awesome day everyone!

Hello all!!!

Wow! This is a busy thread! This is also my first time posting, so Robin won't be the only "stealth" tripper! LOL!

I am really looking forward to meeting all of you and meeting Cathe. I am not really doing anything different or special to get ready for the RT, though. At this point, it's a bit too far away to think about, but I know that I will get nervous and jittery the closer August gets!!!

I don't have any aspirations to run a marathon, but I would like to run the local "Double Bridge Run" that's held here every year. It ends up being about 10 miles.

Later!!!

Hello Everyone,

Today I did Gym Style: Back, Shoulders and Biceps. I also ate clean. A relative just knocked on the door and gave me a bag of chocolate though so I will be fighting that. I think I am going to stash it away tonight and then just bring it into work tommorow so I will not be tempted.

I was unsure about signing up for the roadtrip because I always fell akward around people I do not know however I am really glad I did. I feel so much more motivated to eat clean knowing I have an event to go to.

I do not have time for a lot of personals today.

ShellyC: That is awesome that you have been in the nursing so long and still love it. I am just taking basic courses now like my A&P. I will get into more RT related stuff starting in the Fall. I find the course work intresting so far.

Tess ATL: Thanks for the link to the program.

Everyone Else have a wonderful day.:)

Julia,

GS is very different from the Pyramids or Cathe's latest series. It is more like Muscle Max. Muscle Max is part of the Hardcore series, as are the Gym Styles. They are straight sets (2-3) of reps (8-12) using moderate to heavy weight. They are GREAT workouts!

Good morning ladies,

I just started getting back into running. I am not running marathons
yet, but maybe someday! Last week I ran only 3 mil.

Today I going to to PH!

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon RTers!

Today was GS BSB, LIC abs, yoga class, and run/walk 3 miles. I was quite tired after all of that and I don't usually do that much in one day, but it just happened. I am slowly getting back into running after an injury.

Cheryl--Have you readthe book, Ultramarathon Man? It is quite interesting. A marathon in each of the 50 states?? What a goal!

Gayle--Chocloate kisses sound like a great idea to get from mile 20 to 26! You are a fast runner!! Do you train on the treadmill? Disney sounds like a fun one.

TracyJ--take care of yourself. You will be able to exercise before you know it. I was a walker forever and I just started running a little at a time until I could run 3 miles and then joined some friends 3 days a week.

Emily--I'll bet I am slower than you are!!

Julie--GS are one of favorites!!

Gin

Gin - I've read Dean Karnazes book (Ultramarathon Man) - it's excellent! He's a very interesting guy. And pretty easy on the eyes too. ;) I would have loved to run one of the 50 marathons with him, but I'm too slow to keep up with him. :)

And yes, Gayle is a fast runner! I am so envious of anyone who can run anything close to 8 minute miles or faster. Heck, I'm envious of people who can run 10 minute miles!!! Speed is just not in my genes. I have great endurance though. I can really slow for a really really long time. ;)

Hi everyone! Just read through everyone's posts -- lots of running stuff!! I admire all you runners - never have gotten into it myself. Did Jari's Ripped 1000! again today and am eating well so far!
My biggest excitement of the day is that we switched from DISH to DIRECTV today so I finally have the FIT Tv channel!! Can't wait to check out some of the workouts!
Have to be quick as I've got to get the kids at school -- will have more time tomorrow to respond personally.
Have a great rest of the day!
Colleen

Mona,

Thanks for the input! :) I do like Muscle Max, but I like to concentrate on muscle groups and hit more areas and with one all over body workout- sometimes I leave it wanting more for the other areas. Not sure if that made sense.

I think that I will order them so I can start with them right away.

Julia

Good Afternoon Fellow Roadtrippers!

My eating didn't get any better today. My girls, friend, and I went to McDonalds for breakfast before heading off to the King Tut traveling exhibit at the Franklin Institute in Philly. Afterwards we went to a local Thai restaurant for lunch and to the Stone Creamery for ice cream. I think the Stone Creamery's ice cream is fake and has a lot of fillers because it does NOT melt like regular ice cream does, and it doesn't cause me to cramp up like regular ice cream. The menu for today was/is:

Breakfast: Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit, small orange juice, Dunkin Doughnuts coffee
Lunch: Papaya Salad, Sticky Rice & Chicken Springroll w/ plum sauce
Snack: Kid sized mint chocolate chip ice cream in a waffle dish
Snack: banana stuffed inside sticky rice steamed in coconut milk and wrapped in banana leaves
Dinner: leftovers from lunch
Late night snack if needed: banana

Tonight my husband and I are going to buy some weights and a heart rate monitor to use with P90X. I'll probably do Jari Love's Slim & Lean and the Advanced Fluidity workout. Dh wants to start P90X tomorrow or Friday.

Hi everyone!!!
Today I did JLRTTC for the first time. I liked it, but its not Cathe;-) My shins hurt from yesterday's workout, and its Amy Bento's fault!!! I'm going to attempt hilo again tommorow, and there is a little "dread factor" going on here! Short post today! I hope everyone is doing great! Take care, Nancy J.~~~

thank you Lorrie! the doctor must have seen the look in my eye when I asked when can I workout the first he said was no sit ups!!!!

Tracy J

Hi everyone!
This morning was MIS (my first time). It seemed harder than any of Cathe's total body workouts. Was it just me? I'm very glad tomorrow is a rest day. I am also really impressed by all the marathoners & triathletes and think I may be out of my league!!

Robin-I agree August seems far away, but I know I will wake up in a panic around mid-July!

ShellyC-I am so tempted by BBC but am holding off since there are tons of Cathe's I still haven't done.

Emily & Amy-Glad to meet you!

Lorrie-I think BC/ME looks like a great workout, but I don't think I'm ready for it yet.

Josie-Glad to see another tennis player. I was able to get out & play for the first time this season on Monday.

Hope everybody had a great day!

Kara
