Road trippers 3/26

Good afternoon fellow Road Trippers! :)

I am checking in with a well-deserved rest day. Ahhhhhh. I always feel like I should be doing something, though, when I take a rest day but Mondays - at least for the next month - are tough with work all day (8:30-5) followed by class from 5:30 to about 9:15-9:30.

I am really motivated - this road trip is definitely going to be my motivation the next few months. I have several different moves I want to master - such as pikes on the stability ball, full sets of straight leg pushups, and those side plank/angels.

I hear it is supposed to be 77 degrees in Delaware tomorrow. I am SO looking forward to that.

Have to get back to work! Have a GREAT day ya'll! :) (I promise I will try and check in and do "personals" soon! :)

Tracy T.

Lorrie - I need some of your motivation. I was getting up at 4:45 and working out from 5-6 a.m. before work consistently for 3 and a half months before having foot surgery last month. I need to get back to doing it again. What's your secret? What time do you go to bed in order to get up at 4:15?

Kudos to you my dear - that is one long workout! :)

Tracy T.

Hello fellow Road Trippers!

I missed yesterday's thread - usually not online a whole lot on weekends. This is a great way to meet and greet everyone on the Roadtrip!

A brief introduction: I am a 37 year old native Texan, and I'm still in Texas near where I was born and raised. Married, no kids, but I do claim DH's grandkids as my own. :) I work for a Fortune 100 company and LOVE my job - very rewarding. My hobbies are exercising, fishing, baking, and gardening. I have every one of Cathe's workouts as of just a few weeks ago! I am a veteran of the 2005 Roadtrip, and looking forward to meeting everyone this summer!

This morning, I did Slow & Heavy back and planks, and when I get home tonight, I'll do Leaner Legs and maybe some abs. I hit my abs pretty hard yesterday with TJ Cardio Party and Ab Jam, and the day before that with the drills from Cardio Kicks (did most of CK on Friday, just needed to finish up those drills). So, I'm thinking the abs might like a day off.

Ok, I just discovered if you open a message in a new window you can read the threads... :)

Carole, that sounds like a GREAT workout! I am LOL at your comment about your "kid" - I have an almost 3 year old and an almost 30 year old to contend with!

Tess, welcome! I also post at Ya-Yas (not a whole lot - my name is Mrstrace there as well - original, no?) I started with Cathe almost 2 years ago and I had to work up to them - just do parts at a time and you'll be amazed at how soon you'll get through a workout without even blinking an eye! :)

Liann - Welcome! Where in PA do you live? I'm in northern Delaware so wherever you are, can't be too far from me. Well, in relation to the entire U.S. :) I am also working at leaning out and burning fat (I have about 15 lbs. I would like to lose before the RT) - we will all help support you! :)

Melissa - Welcome! :) Drill Max is SUCH a great workout- I haven't done it in a while but I think I have to drag it out after hearing you say you did it yesterday! :) Eating is also a challenge for me - I had to go back to WW to get it under control. I love food!

Kathy - hello! :) That looks like a GREAT workout and great eating plan too - I aspire to eat as cleanly as you do! :)

Wendy, I actually just got P90X from a Ya-Ya about a month or so ago. I'm not doing a rotation right now (I feel like we just talked about this - maybe we did ... brain is not working today) but I have done several of the workouts on their own and watched several others. I would definitely do more leg work (Cathe's GS Legs, or maybe Butts and Guts or Legs and Glutes) because it is VERY upper body intensive. :) It doesn't have the fun factor that Cathe does though, I will tell you that much.

Josie- I don't have PUB but it sounds like a HARD workout! Enjoy! (Crazy 8's are the death of me, I will admit- so if it has anything like those - yowsas!) Eating clean is hard work - but we must indulge now and again! :) (I had birthday cake Saturday night- yum!)

Michelle- that sounds like a GREAT workout! :) Enjoy it! KPC is one of my all time faves.

Jennifer - that sounds like a great workout on your agenda. Whew, my arms hurt thinking about those 72 pushups- I aspire to one day be able to crank them all out on my toes!

Gayle - Welcome! You are going to be one of my inspirations - working out at 4:45 in the morning, plus training for a half! I am also following WW points - it is a great program. I am saddened of hearing about your husband but it fills my heart with joy to see that you have found love again. How courageous and strong you must be. (((HUGS)))

Cheryl- 20 weeks till the roadtrip? That makes it sound shorter than 4.5 months away! :) Great workout you got in today! :) I, too, have a soft spot for jelly beans.. yum!

Colleen - what a fabulous gift to yourself for quitting smoking! I, too, can be shy at times - but it seems like the RT group is going to be a GREAT one and the fact that we're getting to know each other early is great as well! :)

Robin - Welcome! I am looking forward to getting to know you as well. It sounds like your afternoon workout schedule is really great - I would love to be able to work out at that time. :)

Cheryl- GREAT workout for today - I can't remember if I've ever done Scrambled Eggs or not - I must have at some point. Love BM2! One of my favorites. Enjoy your spring weather! (And, P.S. You are my IDOL. 10 kids! I barely have patience for my one sometimes! What a huge heart you must have! :)

Nancy - welcome! :) (And, I did get a message from Carol, thx! :) Eating well is definitely always going to be a challenge - especially with family GTGs and Easter. But - we should indulge now and again.... :) as long as we eat clean 90% of the time :)

Beth, I also have a sweet tooth - I have sf jello with FF cool whip at night or fudge pops - or those 100 cal packs.... I could go on and on.... I like Jari's Slim and Lean as well - I prefer that over Ripped to the Core. But my favorite of hers is probably the Ripped 1000 one :)

WHEW! That took a long time!!! Have a GREAT day ya'll!!!!

Good Afternoon RTers!

Checking in with Powerstrike 1 and Seg. 3 of Stretch Max. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't workout in the morning, lol! I usually workout in the afternoon (2-3ish or so) on week days due to my kids' schedules. Sometimes I procrastinate, though, and then it's in the evening.

Robin -- Cardio Fusion is my newest favorite workout :D

Cheryl -- Scrambled Eggs AND Butts & Guts?!? WOW! I'd probably die, lol. Much as I love cross-training, I agree, though, that Cathe remains at the core of all my rotations and overall workout regime. She's the best!!

Hi to everyone else, and I hope you all have a great day!

Carol

Hi Jennifer, Wendy, Kathy, Gayle, and Mona!

Tess...I hope your friend gives you some of Cathe's earlier step tapes as most of those are a bit less choreography challenging! I also posted on the Yaya's and VF but Cathe feels so much more like home to me...:)

Liann...Thanks for the compliment...I bet you do get in a good arm workout with PT. I had a doxie growing up...cool dogs!

Melissa...I look forward to getting to know you.

Shelly...those big old kids can be tough to take care of!

Josie...have fun with PUB.

Michelle...isn't KPC fun and the premixes are great.

Cheryl...right now I am doing a BBC rotation for 3 weeks and I think I might alternate that with 3 weeks of heavy lifting...not quite sure yet! I normally do a P90X style rotation using Cathe's S&H and GS.

Colleen...I started out with some Kathy Smith too. Congrats on your weight loss.

Robin...:)...nice to see you here. I am looking forward to meeting you and getting to know you I know will be fun!!

Cheryl (cmoroney)...you are so sweet...thank you for your kind words...:)...isn't scrambled eggs fun. I admire you for raising 10 kids. Wow...sorry about your 29 year old. I have a nephew (20) that was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident last July. He might be with his Mom a long time.

Nancy...we might have to share some of our bizarre salon stories...I have a few myself...:)

Beth...thank you! I would say yes, I do mainly use Cathe, but I do have P90X, a couple of Jari's and just recently BBC ( Barry's BootCamp) I think variety is a good thing...What I do when I post is just bring up Notepad and write my responses there while reading thru the thread, then copy and paste my responses at the end of the thread...:)

Tracy T...enjoy your well deserved rest day. I should get myself motivated to do straight leg push ups....I just don't like them and go to my knees!!

I don't work on mondays, which gives me more time to post...it is pouring down rain right now. I know we need it but I am missing the 80 degree days from last week!

Hi Roadtrippers!
I’m Kathy G (here and over at the YaYa’s and VF forum). I live in Southern NJ, about 45 minutes from Cathe’s gym. I attended the 2000 and 2005 Roadtrips.

I’m hoping I can do all the pivoting and higher impact moves (if there are any) during Cathe’s classes. I’m still recovering from an ACL (knee ligament) reconstruction surgery I had in June. I’m going to give Drill Max a try this week for the first time. I have 5 months to work the new DVD choreography right? The only one I’m having trouble with right now is BodyMax 2. The fast turning movements make my knee tired! I know that if all else fails, I’ll modify during the roadtrip.

I’ll also be training for some races during the roadtrip prep time so that’s about the only significant changes I’ll make to my routine, other than cutting out all the snacks I’ve been having lately…lol. :9

Okay I never did a check in before. I am so excited to be hanging out with so many interesting woman who love to work out.

For today I will be doing interval max (warm-up and 38 minutes of intervals) and then 20 minutes of yoga.

B egg whites two slices lite bacon and one plum
S 1/3 cup of dry Kashi heart to heart hmmm.. also had a mini hershey dark with peanuts in it when I walked past my admins desk
L 3oz chicken and salad greens and one peach
S Light popcorn
D Apricot Pork chop(Dream Dinner meals), mixed vegetables probably going to have glass of wine and maybe a popscicle...

see told you I eat for real..

For those who have been commenting on my screen name. It is actually for my niece Gabriella. She has two nicknames GABBYELLA because she TALKS A LOT (got that from me) and CRABBYELLA because she is a drama queen (gets that from her mother).

See you Tuesday..

KIM

Hi Roadtrippers!!! This check-in is a great idea!

I'm overwhelmed by reading all the responses. It's nice to meet everybody!:)

I'm Tina..40 years old..5'0 live in Virginia. I have a husband and a german shepherd Harley, who today I should have named "barky"!!!LOL

I'm just finishing the August 05 Boot Camp rotation so I got a head start on my endurance gains for sure. I can hardly do push-ups at all due to a shoulder issue, but I still tryx( :7

It sounds like everybody is feeling the exact same way about being nervous so none of us have anything to worry about - right?:D

I'm looking forward to and cannot wait to see everybody in person! This is going to be so much fun!!!!

Hi, Beth!

Hey, I did the same workout, JLSL, for the first time today, plus some cardio. What do you think of it?? I upped the weights a little, but not as high as when I do Cathe.I liked it; will do it again, but I definitely prefer Cathe:) I like to mix it up a bit, too. It makes me appreciate Cathe even more!!!Take care, Nancy J.~~~

Hi everyone!
I sure hear you all on the eating. This morning I did C&W, then played tennis, then came home and ate everything in the house!!!
Nice to be able to get out in the nice weather though. Only 2 weeks ago I was skiing. That's Kentucky weather for you.

ShellyC-Thank you for your kind words. It made me feel better and I promise I will not hide from you:) Am also glad to know there will be an RN there, in case I hypervenilate during a workout, lol.

Beth-Crescent Springs is about 5 minutes from me. Montgomery Inn is yummy!

Cheryl-10 children & blackbelt in kickbox karate! I'm impressed!

Jean-I felt REALLY lucky to be #103. I wondered who was #105.

Kim (Crabbyella)-I would be happy for you to come up and talk to me! I need that since I'm a little shy.

Lara-How do you pronounce your name? Is it like "Laura" or rhymes with "Kara"?

Everyone sounds so interesting and fun!! Can't wait to meet you all. Hope everyone had a great day:D

Kara

Good afternoon fellow Road Trippers!

I agree, food is the hardest part for me as well. I'm going to try to clean it up a little before the Road Trip. Last weekend I had a run in with food! I am happy to report I didn't gain any weight! Off to a new week and a new start!!

Today I did Kick,Punch and Crunch!

I'm truly looking forward to meeting everyone in person!

Have a great afternoon!

Hey everyone!

I am so overwhelmed by you all! I can't wait to meet you because I have a hard time keeping track of everyone on the thread!

Lorrie, I am an early exerciser also. I wake at 4:15 too(well, most of the time)! If it doesn't get done in the AM, it's just never going to happen. Maybe some day when, the kids are out of the house(DS=17, DD=15,DD=13) then things will change! I like the morning as no one bothers me. Although you have to count the 3cats,1dog,1 parakeet all clamoring for attention. Oh, the fish in the aquarium(75 gal) splash pretty loud too! ;-)

Today was Lomax. I'm currently following a rotation by FitnessFreak. Depending on what Cathe posts for April, I may continuewith another one by FF.

I'll have to re-read everyone's post later. Have a good night.

Phyllis

Hi everybody,

This is my first time checking-in, but I would love to get to know you all before we get to NJ!

My name is Jennifer - you can call me JC since there's already another Jennifer if you want. I get called JC a lot for a nickname anyway because there are always so many Jennifers around!

I recently turned 30, and I live in NC. I have been working out to videos since I was 14, found the Firm at 17, and found Cathe at 23. I quickly bought up all her DVDs back in 2000 and have preordered ever since. I don't do her workouts exclusively because I love to have a good variety, but she is definitely my favorite and my go-to person when I want a TOUGH workout!

I am going to start cleaning up the eating and planning out a workout rotation to get me through to August next week --- on Wednesday I am flying to NYC for the first time for a convention.

I went to two Anna Benson/FitPrime vacations a while back and had an incredible time. I can't wait to meet Cathe and all of you!
:)

Jennifer/JC :7

Hello everyone!!
Today I did GS Chest and Triceps and Hardcore Extreme (the first one). My arms are still shaking...I just wish I could do all those pushups on my toes!! I haven't eaten too poorly today (if you don't count the 3 girl scout cookies I ate before I worked out).

Wendy...don't worry, I promise I will check-in regularly. Thanks for your words of encouragement.

Shelly C....I know this road trip is going to be awesome!! I can hardly wait. I looked at the pictures of all your "kids"..too cute!! Your cats are beautiful. I forgot to mention that I also have one cat. He is not very nice (he likes to bite a lot!!), but I still love him.

Carol...You are right, I am already glad that I have started posting more. It is going to be fun getting to know everyone.

Michelle....a shout out to you over in Fayetteville, NC. I have never been to North Carolina, but I hope to one day travel east. I hear it is so petty.

Tracy J..congratulations on the recent birth of your baby

Lorrie....Oh I don't think I could get up that early to work out!! That takes serious dedication. Congratulations for signing up to walk 60 miles, I bet it will be an amazing experience.

Liann...take care of that shoulder injury! Sorry, I had to say that being a therapist.

Jacqueline...I also bump into a lot of RTs. I have a second job working at a hospital on weekends (but I don't work too many weekends!).

Josie...PUB is also one of my favorite upper body workouts, and I always dread the end with biceps!

Jennifer...we did the same workout tonight. Do your arms feel like noodles like mine do?

Cheryl Shakespeare...my sister lives in Lenexa (although she is moving to Chicago in a month). I absoultely love KC!! I wish she wasn't moving so far away from me. I guess that means a lot of trips to Chicago!

Cheryl..Scrambled Eggs is my all time favorite premix. What a workout!

Tina...how old is your GS? Sophie (my GS) is 2 1/2 years old. She is such a wonderful dog. I would really like to adopt another GS!

Colleen..A BIG congratulations on quitting smoking!! What an accomplishment.

Kara...I pronounce my name like "Laura". My name is mispronounced often, so I will answer to almost anything!!

Okay, I have to go start chopping vegetables for a salad...my boyfriend is getting hungry! Talk to you all soon.

I'm another person that is a first time RTer and 1st time doing a check in. I am excited that someone started this and will enjoy reading and "getting" to know you all. I will look forward to meeting you too in August.

I'm 40, and live in CT. I've been working out with Cathe for almost 3 years. My husband and children all support my work-outs and encouage me.

I usually do well eating all day, until the evening when all the demands are on me and sometimes I don't take the extra time to prepare my healthier meal from my family's meal which throws me off. Me and my 11 year old last week came in the house in the same state of hunger..."hungry, cranky, get out of my way, I need nourishment". That was an eye opener for both of us... prepare quick healthy grap snacks to conquer the ravishing hunger before it goes out of control. I'm doing better now with that, but always improvements can be made.

It's late now.. and the idea that some of you will be up 4-5ish to work out, makes me tired. I will have to try it again sometime.. just maybe not tomorrow morning. :)

Carole, I am sorry I mispelled your name!! I meant to change it before my final post. I will get it right next time!!
