Rhythmic Step's pace...

Hi All,

Is the pace of Rhythmic Step a little bit slower than Cathe's other step tapes, because the music sounds slower ?

Hi Anna! Yes, it's a bit slower than many of her videos but still perfectly brisk. I think her pace peaked with BodyMax and then started easing off a bit from there. I'm not as familiar with MIC so I don't know how to compare that one to RS but it's definitely slower than, say, StepFit. Hope you enjoy RS, it's loads of fun once you learn it!!

Yeah, even though this tape gives a good workout and is fun, it is a bit slower paced. It can be a nice change from those hardcore interval tapes though!

Have you ever stepped with Cathe? Take it from someone who felt like you til I bought my first Cathe step tape. From then on, I was hooked. I started out with the Wedding video & MegaStepBlast as I am two left footed when it comes to step, but both of these tapes were great intros. BTW, Sherry's suggestions on CardioKicks and Kickbox are great tapes too. (No step!)

I never liked step either, as I'm kinda clutzy and trying to get the choreography I felt I didn't get a good work out. But I love step with Cathe. Her moves are simpler but very intense, and I always sweat! You might try it and see what you think. I love her circuit tapes, oh, heck I just plain love all of her stuff. After a week without my DVD and doing other videos I got my DVD set up again today and did 2 hours of Cathe. I told my DH "There's just nobody and nothing like Cathe!" I mean that! Good luck! Her MIC (maximum intensity cardio) has the first part with hi/lo floor aerobics and the 2nd part is step. It can be split up or done as one workout. It's one of my favorites, but very intense. I'd rather do weights any day, but I need the cardio with my metabolism and shape. I get bored running all the time, or doing the stair stepper or eliptical trainer - thus I have learned to love step! And I feel it's made me more graceful! Who'd have thought it?

Thankyou for such a nice lengthy reply. Im a little hesitant to do step because it looks so intense. I only need a little help in the tummy area and am afraid if I go so bold into cardio, that I'll sacrifice "fat" where I need it...........arms and legs. Im an ecto in case you couldnt tell. So I wanted a simple but thorough cardio to do a few times a week for the baby bulge!

Maybe I received a different Rhythmic Step? I'm curious as to the replies, because although I have all of Cathe's tapes (step and weights), I've found RS to be really fast-paced, frenetic and hard to keep up with. That being said, I love the non-monotony of the tape and I'm confident that I'll grow into it soon (I've only done it twice now). But I have to say that my feet were hurting after doing it because of the quick stepping. I did StepFit the other day and didn't have any problem, same with the CTX cardios, PowerMax, etc. I just find Rhythmic Step to be really hard to keep up with, even though now I've finally mastered the choreography, I just can't seem to keep up with the pace - and this just hasn't ever been a problem before. Hoping that I'll get my feet into a faster mode soon so I can pull RS out again, because it is really full of interesting moves.

I highly doubt you received a different RS!!:) Actually, I did this one for the first time yesterday and felt pretty lost, but not hopeless. It will be really cool when I get all the moves down. RS is fast, especially when she triple steps around the step...that is a all out run for me in order to get to where I am supposed to be!! However, do you have BodyMax?? BodyMax is "frenetic". The beat is much faster and the stepping is very quick. I think what makes RS difficult is the intricate moves. But, I guess I cannot say yet since I did it on a 4" step yesterday.... I am sick with a cold right now:(... Hope you get all the moves soon and can really groove with it!!
