Returning contacts question

Has anyone ever returned contact lenses?

I recently got a 1 year supply of Bausch & Lomb Multifocal lenses. I've been wearing them for 3 months now and they are slowly driving me crazy. When I first got them I was able to read up close again. Now I can't. I have to grab my readers. Also, it always feels like there is something in my eyes and they burn like crazy. These are the most uncomfortable contacts I've ever worn.

I did try a pair for about 2 weeks and liked them. I'm not sure what has happened between now and then. I usually can't wait to go home and rip them out of my eyes and put my glasses on. :mad:

Anyone know if B&L does returns. I need to get to their website but I am so busy here at work today.

I wear hard one, gas permitable. So I only have one pair, it lasts more than 2 years. However, my daughter wear JJ one. We ordered one year supplies for her. But after 2 weeks, she did not feel good. Because the brand of contacts made her eyes dry and she was very uncomfortable. We ordered it via Costco. I took her to see her eye doctor. He recommended JJ newest brand which gives more moisture. We went back to Costco. They allowed us to return all un opened boxes. They won't accept open boxes with un used one, which I think it is fair. I got the credit and applied it to buy the new brand one.

Ok, so I've used two pair from a box of six, do you mean they won't take the unopened 4 pairs back? I understand about not returning "used" contacts, but ones that aren't even opened because the box was opened?

I'm so upset about this, these contacts cost me an arm and a leg. I hope B&L will work with me on this problem.

Yes, Debbie. They will take back boxes that you did not open. I think each box contains 6 pairs of contacts? I have to check. For the other two, you opened, but the rest of pairs you did not use in that two opened boxes, they won't accept. At least that was how Costco operated. But Costco was good to us. They throw about 4 pairs of free contacts to us so my daughter have something to wear while waiting for the new orders to come. Hope your retailer will do the same.

Debbie - where did you order from? I have used 1-800-CONTACTS in the past and they took everything back, including unopened packages (out of the box). I believe I got some type of a credit for those to use on a future purchase.

One more thought on the subject. What cleaning solution are you using? You might check with your Dr about using Clear Care or some solution that has fewer preservatives. Sometimes the cleaning/dis infecting solution can react with the lenses and cause discomfort. Just a thought, I work in an Optometrist office and we see alot of this.

Debbie, I'm sorry you had this problem, but if it makes you feel any better, the same thing has happened to me! I tried the same type of contacts, and wore them for 2 weeks. After the first week I though I could handle it, but then they started bugging me, and I had to use readers for detail work anyway. Yes, the were lower magnification, but big whoop, I still had to use readers. Kind of defeated the purpose of contacts.

I am out about $300 for the cost of the exam and the follow-up to learn how to use them. Well, I tried anyway.... :rolleyes:
