Red faced

I'm in pretty good shape and do step aerobics 5 times per week. Every time I do any sort of cardio work, my face gets beet red (except for the area between my nose and mouth which winds up very pale white). This has always happened, even when I was really out of shape. Does anyone else have this problem? Can I expect it to stop happening or should I be worried?

Thank you Cathe for your excellent DVDs.

I have no idea if this is just a coincedence, but... I used to take step at school and got super red faced, I never brought water with me. I have heard that the more in shape you get, the more you sweat, hence the more water you lose. Now I do step at home and I constantly drink water during my workouts. I sweat a lot - but no more cherry face! Hope this helps!!!

We had a discussion like this over at VF. It seems as though there are quite a lot of us "Red Faced Women". I drink a quart size bottle water during Cathe's step. I sweat quite a lot and always, ALWAYS, have a beet red face. I keep track of my blood pressure and it is normal so I don't get concerned about my beautiful GLOW anymore. I did, however, double check this with my Dr. just for good measure.

Hi Becky! If you have had your physical and have a clean bill of health than this redness is most likely due to your genetic pigmentation. Some people's skin capillaries are just closer to the skins surface. Take care:)!

I used to not get red-faced but since I had some hormone treatments for endometriosis in 1998, my face gets beet red (and I mean scary beet red) when I do cardio. It still scares me when it does it, but I attribute it to exertion, age, and the hormone residual effects. Regardless, it's usually gone within an hour. (I get the same whiteness around the nose and mouth, too. Looks freaky in the mirror!) I have low blood pressure so I'm pretty sure I'm o.k. - just letting go of some of the heat through my cheeks.

Thank you so much everyone! My blood pressure is fine and I don't have any health problems that I am aware of. I drink water throughout my workouts but I'll try drinking a lot more and see if that takes care of it. I just hope to get over this so people will stop asking me if I'm ok! :D Thanks again!
