Recovery Weeks -- Do You Believe In Them

Lora, may I suggest reposting in a new thread and using something like Cathe, Recovery Weeks? This thread may indeed have gotten lost in the shuffle in spite of your patience. I hope you get your response! :)

Hi Lorajc! Your body repairs itself at rest and that is when we gain the benefits of our workouts, so yes, I definitely believe in recovery time. Especially after the body has been pushing VERY hard on a particular program. Recovery time does not have to be a week. It can be longer or shorter depending on how you feel and how hard you are pushing in your program. For me personally, I like to take one day off a week and 4 to 6 days off every 4 or 5 weeks.

Also, recovery does not have to mean complete rest of all fitness or recreational activity (but it can be that if you wish). It means lighter workouts and can even be different activities to give your muscles time away from what they are used to doing.

Take Care :)

PS...I just realized I hopped on a computer in another office, hence this post coming up under SNM Videos. Let me get back to my office.....:7

Double yay!! I guess my massive collection of "non-Cathe" DVD's/Videos won't go to waste after all. I could use them for recovery weeks. Thanks so much for answering this Cathe. I searched thru all of the Ask Cathe Forum archives and could not find a similar question.
